chanvra hemp mats are way better than terrafibre in my opinion. Their newest generation of grow mats are double sided. One side has a finer weave that is great for precision planting. The other side is like raw fiber, fluffy clouds seeds love to grow in. This fiber forms tiny pockets that retain water and let any excess drain through the media. The perfect combination of water retention and drainage at the same time.

Hey, yeah, sorry I have my customer service team answering this! This is CJ. You can reuse Coco Mats as they are generally coated in some type of rubber. There are a ton of crevices in the mediums though, so it’s something you need to be careful of trapped bacteria/pathogens... but as long as you sanitize it well and the medium holds up, go for it! The biggest issue we found with coco mats is that they are really hard to keep seeds nice and moist on. Since they are coated in a rubber they are hydrophobic and do not retain water to help with germination. Hope that helps!! CJ

Why not just stick with a good organic soil??
@OnTheGrow4 жыл бұрын
Great question! You can absolutely use a good organic soil. Some people don’t like the mess that soil makes in their house and for commercial growers, sometimes grow mats are more desirable for the same reason. Organic soil does a great job, but depending on the soil, it could perform poorly or really well. We’ve tested a lot of organic soils versus some hydroponic methods and the hydroponic methods can beat soil for cost and provide more produce at harvest... it really comes down to whatever you want! We just like to try everything on the market and share our experiences so people can make better decisions 🤗🌱🌱
