This video is exactly what I was looking for!! I've a crazy planner person ever since I was 14 yr old so I have a lot of "minor" or "too much on detail" concerns when picking a planner. I've heard so much about jibun, and this year it's finally the time to try it! I couldn't help but pause half way during the video to subscribe, thumbs-up and leave this comment when I noticed how down-to-the-detail you are when introducing the notebooks!! Thank you very much for this comparison. Like you I used in 2019 the Jibun techo biz mini, and I was curious about the Jibun techo Lite. I don’t really like all the staff and color on the regular version, that’s why I chose the biz mini. But I was to restricted by the layout and I like the fact the lite version is more clean and subtle. I’m not completely sure if I will go for it next year but your video is very useful for me. For my planners for 2020, I’m torn between a few planners - the Jibun Techo - another hobonichi weeks - a tn planner (most likely the horizontal weeks) - an a6 hobonichi with the weekly supplement - the lite Jibun Techo There’s too many options and it’s stressing me out 😅 I even have a muji vertical planner but I’m not using it and I feel super bad for wasting it!

I love the hobonichi a6 dimensions and whole aesthetic but the lack of weekly spreads is so limiting for those of us who need more than just a journal or a daily to do list The weekly supplement is so silly to me because it wouldn't add a lot of bulk to just put it all in one book. If it were all in one it would be my dream planner

if it has enough space height-wise, the only problem would be the friction from this velvety cover against the leather of your sojourner. i made a following up video showing how to make a very quick slip cover to reduce friction :)

Thank you for posting this! This is my first time seeing your channel. :D I jumped in feet first and purchased the Lite today from JetPens here in the US; they just went on sale this morning. I loved the light blue color and the slim profile. Decided to skip the starter kit and take the plunge this way. Seeing your video, I'm happy I did it. Based on JetPen's updated guide for the Jibun Techo, the Lite is the new streamlined planner; for people who don't need all the bells and whistles. The 2020 Jibun Techo lineup will have: First Kit Standard (starter kit) Standard Cover (just the diary) Pale Cover (just the diary; opaque pastel cover) Biz Cover (biz diary) Lite Diary (new for 2020) JetPens will have new accessories for 2020 sometime in October. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the comparison! I dislike how much I like planners, because now I want a Lite! Haha. For 2020, I have the Jibun Techo B6 Slim classic in the pale blue cover for tracking habits, plans and daily activities. I will be using an A6 Hobonichi Original for journaling and doodles. I have an A6 Midori MD notebook for language studies and a Midori MD pocket ring binder insert set for tentative plans before they go in the Jibun (but am considering a Hobonichi Weeks instead.)

Thanks so much for this! On the pictures the new weekly design looked so ugly and I loved the dots... but seeing this and how fine the numbers and lines are, it looks beautiful! And I love, love, love the removal off the lists and the integration of the monthly pages! Since you can't take of the cover - does it still fit into the Handsitched Leather cover?

i rly like the clean look of it too! yes it fits but theres lots of friction against the leather so i dont think its ideal. i did a tiny video clip on my insta stories showing it :)

I am SOLD!!! What sold me in the Mini Slim B6 is the monthly pages with the trackers. How perfect is that! I have the Jibun Techo Slim A5 and as you had shown the tracking pages are separate from the months. I tried to use them but flipping back and forth becomes a pain. The Mini Slim B6 solves that problem. I came to your video because I wanted to see the size comparision of the B6 versus the slimmer A5. It's not that much. I was concern about writing in it. But it looks like that will not be a problem. Thanks for taking the time to share!!! P.S. Unfortunately the B6 version sold on Amazon and Etsy is not the same layout as feature in your video. Is there another place I can find this version of the B6?

oh im not very sure how much smaller the b6 is vs the a5 bc both sizes i am showing are the b6 slim. it is by a bit shorter tho. if u dont have too much planning to do, i think the b6 slim should be sufficient :) the version i am showing is the b6 lite mini. u have to specifically look for this version. i'm very sorry i dont know any US websites that would sell it :/

Thank you so much for doing this video. You did a great job with the comparison. I was so excited to watch it. I agree, I think this is my dream planner. Tick boxes at the top of the weekly and a combined tracker on the monthly page?!! I can't of anything else I'd want! I have the Jibun Biz until April, so I still have to dream about getting it. ;) BTW, does the mini have a lay flat binding like the original one does?

I'd be most interested to know if it feels lighter to you and also, how many grid pages in the back to write on. Helpful to know for me since I will probably go with Hobonichi Weeks or Mega Weeks again but this planner has a few handy tracking items.

I don't decorate, but I color code and use symbols - the more minimal the layout is the less clutter I have on my pages! I don't really use the vertical layout much these days - it was my standard for almost a decade, but I haven't used it in a while - but I'm still very tempted by this... I love the clean look and compact format! And that there's not a bunch of info pages and quotes and stuff (the quotes are the main reason I've never bought a Hobonichi - I can't stand wasted space 😅). I would have loved it if they kept the monthly tracker/GANTT pages, but there's still seven "double" rows/month (14 lines total, and if I'm *really* desperate I could always write over the top row with the dates since the font is so light and minimal!). I'd rather just use the notes pages when I need more than have too many pages of something. Basically I love this and I am trying SO HARD to stick to my resolution to not buy a full planner for 2020 and stick with my printed schedule + BUJO combo... But it's so hard 😭

do u mean the original plastic covers that come with your planners? no it won't fit into those, it will be a tiny bit too tall

I have been using techo or jibun for 2 to 3 years. I was so disappointed I could not use watercolors at all because I hate the puckering it caused!!!! If I draw in them now I just use colored pencils or a marker. I never could highlight either. But I like my mini jibun. The paper is different and holds ink better!!

according to myindieco.. Biz diaries are of Kokuyo's own MIO paper, same as last year. It is different than the new THIN in standard diary and Lite. MIO is a bit thicker and coated, very nice for frixion pens. Same paper has been used with the Life booklet that comes with the 3-in-1 First Kits of the Jibun Techo Diaries. hope that helps :)
