I am going to use my Bambu Labs P1S to print a creality filament spool light! Great idea!

@@EmbraceMaking I've got A1 with AMS lite, it's not their top tier but it's performing like it is! Beside that one, I've got few Creality Machines, K1 Max, CR-10 SE and Ender 3 S1 Pro. It's easy win for the A1 if you print with PLA/PET-G (haven't tried other filaments on A1), and that's what I print 99% of the time...

Heard very good things about the A1 - would love to stack it up against some of the other new mid range priced klipper machines on the market. I've yet to own any Bambu Labs printer but am also considering P1P

What is the "Swirly looking" seemingly threaded internal part of the front plate for? Aesthetics? Fantastic build BTW. I was waiting for someone to use the extremely aesthetically pleasing bambu spools directly in a project, and you did that incredibly well.

Thank you! The spiral looking thing in the middle serves two purposes. 1 an extra support for the spool and threads into the back mount. 2. Fills in the hole in the middle so it just looks nicer.

did you use translucent filament or is that just white filament?
@EmbraceMaking10 ай бұрын
Just regular white filament. Anything the light passes through is only 1-2 layer / wall thick so it will diffuse nicely.

what controller did you use for your leds i need a good but cheep one i have a lot of leds left over

In this video it was the one that was integrated with the LED strip. What kind of LED strips do you have? Not all controllers are compatible with just any strips

What filament did you use to print it? White PETG?
@EmbraceMaking8 ай бұрын
Just regular white PLA :)

How can I print the diffuser if my printer says that I have to activate supports?

Mmmh I'm skeptical. I mean, you don't have a Bambu, so you used the spools but don't need them anymore. People who has a Bambu instead does need spare spools. Those are btw the only known spool brand which splits in halves allowing you to reload them in a switch and click. Having printed one more spare, I can assure you that for material/time, the original Bambu spools sold at 14 bucks are a deal, compared to 4 euro of your PETG and more than 4 hs of print time. Let's also assume that who doesn't own a Bambulab can't relate nor with the spool value, neither with its look. So you just shown how to (net of aesthetics and creativity and so, which I admire) How to make a questionable look lamp, with the main body part worth 14 bucks already, with which most of the people can't relate, and people which do relate can 1- Build it on their own and 2- Think the same about "that's a wasted reusable spool!" So in conclusion one of these people be they printers or not, Bambu owners or not, decide to pay like 30 bucks at least for a tabletop lamp even if, one category or another, they all have at least one motivation to question the making or just not relating with it. Ok... Nice build. I don't want to be rude but there's no smooth way to tell you this "product" has no potential target, no value proposition and it's outta market at every price. (I have made a hair clip ring in carbon fiber and resin. The mold is 3d printed. Truss me, when I say it's cool but useless I know what I mean. I just say this disclaimer before showing it, and don't try to make it look like I have an MVP with that hair ring. Because it's not, it's a prop, nothing more.)

Thanks for the detailed response but this is a novelty project and not a product. All of the files are free and yes there is no practical market for it. People with the bambu printers or who use the filament (like myself) often end up with extra spools and it's just a fun way to use those spools. My local supplier only sells the filament on the spool and not the refills so I have a few of these spools laying around. There are lots of very passionate Bambu customers out there who would make something like this for themselves for fanfare and just for fun. It's free :)

such a strange response to a guy making something fun, he didnt once say its for commercial use... besides if you are that bothered about commercial use you can print your own spools.
