Electric motors are inherently far more efficient then fossil fuel powered engines. They use most of the received energy while in fossil fuel powered engines, a lot of energy gets wasted in the form of heat. Also, fossil fuel powered cars are like individual tiny power plants on their own. A large centralised power plant even if running on coal, is finally resulting in more efficient production of energy in comparison to hundreds of tiny power plants i.e fossil fuel powered engines in vehicles. Most important thing is that Electric vehicles are Zero Emissions. The generation of electricity used to charge their batteries cannot be considered when comparing to fossil fuel powered cars. When emissions from fossil fuel powered cars are calculated, do we consider the energy required to drill, refine and transport the fossil fuel or only the emissions coming from the car? The answer is only the emissions from the tailpipe.

Meri car ek new gadi ke brabar hi under pollution control hai, for bhi ban, ye aam insaan ke upper bahut bda ghaat hai jinhone apni zindagi me ek hi gadi kharidi aur wo bhi puri 15 sal tax paid karke unka to Bina kaam ke loss. Ngt apnaa pla jhaad rhi hai, my suggestion to ngt and government is do check vehicles on road for pollution which are older than 10 years, if they pollute above the limit, impound them. But don't ban like this. 🙏

The NGT's decision to have more than 10 year old Diesel cars banned is a personal whammy to the rights of the citizen. What I recommend is that the NGT / Govt sets emission norms to say Euro 5 by say 30 june 2018 and leave it to the owner to match these norms. Then, they shud have mobile checking squads to check emission compliant to Euro 5, if a car fails the test even if it is less than 10 years old, there shud be a huge fine say Rs 10,,000/- in 1st case & thereafter ₹15,000 each time it fails. After 5 fails, car shud be impounded. This will bring less than 10 year old polluting cars also into the ambit of Pollution norms. I have seen mainly TATA cars like Indica & Indigo spewing smoke that will never pass Euro 5 norms AND these cars are less than 10 years old. All UBER & Ola Taxi drivers have complained to me about high maintenance costs & down times with TATA cars, they are ashamed of the smoking also. If it is left to the owners to match EURO norms they will keep engines healthy/ refurbished/ well tuned to keep their cars on road to avoid Prosecution / Scrapping, or they themselves will scrap their cars. In California - USA, they have the strictest laws on vehicle pollution. In India we have no infrastructure to implement EURO 5 or more and the Govt is hell bent to give a whammy to the individuals for its own failures. Odd & Even restrictions were another example of this.

Thanks for information shared through the video. I wanted to know if the ban includes all those Diesel vehicles which have already been registered for 15 years before the initial ban in 2015. (For example a diesel engine driven car registered in 2014 uptil 2029 by the RTO gets spared through the ban and that the ban only covers diesel cars registered after 2015.?

Pollution is not at all concern. It is just an excuse because if government is really worried about pollution then it has to think for making a strategy of reducing the use of vehicles, by creating good public transportation. But instead of this, government even destroying public infrastructure and doing privatisation, making public services very costly so people are helpless to choose to travel on daily basis by their own private vehicles. Instead of educating people I think government need to be educated to make good strategies.

Biggest problem about that filling petrol or diesel for each takes only 2-3 Minutes...but charging an e car takes 2-3 hour minimum..as result each car required long time...jahan India m petrol pump pr hi itni Lambi line lagti h to socho ecar m 2-3 ghante har ek car ko chaiye ...itne station kholne padenge aur bhut sara space dena padega for charging...this project gonna take lot of time

I have few questions about electric cars... 1.first of all the electric car takes to much time to charge full and if suppose an electric car has a range of 300km and if I have to go 600km what I will do??? Will I stand in the middle of the highway and charged the car for prolonged time?? And at this time I think only Tesla provide turbo charger which would take min. 30 min to car the car...but entry level car will not get that feature.... 2.in India there are very few charging station....so without fixing that issue how they are trying to implement electric car ??

Girish Ohri Mahindra e2o has a top speed of 80km per hour. Besides, what you are not noticing is that electric cars can be charged at home unlike petrol/diesel cars which can be filled up only at fuel pumps. So all will charge their electric cars at home just like their mobile phones. Your house will be your charging station! Only long distance travellers will need public charging stations.
