Cupcake Sprinkelz That’s weird because my childhood nickname is Aimee (spelled the same) and that’s exactly what my family used to do when I was growing up. We would always make a large batch of egg rolls and share them with the neighbors along the street.

Those square spring roll wrappers looks more convenient than the regular circular ones we traditionally make lumpia with here in the Philippines. Cutting them into triangle made wrapping a lot easier and it looks more stable and neat. The problem I have with wrapping with the circular wrap is that sometimes, if not done right, the wrapper can open up when frying or handling.

My late husband's brother is married to a Filipino woman named Nora. Nora showed us, years ago, how to make Lumpia. The prep is rather tedious, with having to finely dice everything (we used onions, carrots and potato, along with the ground meat and purchased Lumpia skins from our local Asian market) but the end result was definitely worth it. We would make a big plate of Lumpia rolls and just munch on them throughout the evening while watching scary movies :)

OMG I was looking for your Hardtack video because it’s not in your hard times playlist and I just HAD to watch this one! My mother LOVES Lumpia! She was stationed over in the Philippines and got a taste for them, but never learned how to make them. After I got my culinary degree the first thing my mom asked me after I got off the stage from picking up my diploma was ‘You know how to make Lumpia now, right?’ LOL I had to tell her that my Regional studies course of Asian cuisine didn’t include Lumpia. She was so disappointed. I’m glad it’s not that difficult to make. I’m going to surprise her with it for Thanksgiving. LOL thanks Emmy!

Most Filipino food is improved with a bit of heat and spice. Cuts through the salty, sour, sweet they focus on...at least for my tastes.

I wonder what the inside of your refrigerator and freezer looks like with all the stuff you cook. Amazing as usual Emmy! Thanks for the amazing video! Also in Hawaii we eat lumpia with a vinegar sauce. I’ll see if I can get the recipe and I’ll email it to you.

Every fried food never ever forget to serve with ketchup (in any kind or brand) that is a typical and traditional way of a filipino family dishes..it may be in regular or occasional basis it must be serve. Nice, you had a perfect way of cooking with our proudly lumpiang shanghai. May you try other Filipino cuisine it's more fun and yummy👍👍

So glad you were able to make and try these, Emmy! They're a Filipino party STAPLE. They're super dangerous - sometimes we'll cut them down to half this size so they're tiny little bite sized poppers, and I could honestly just sit by the food table and eat 20 of them and not even notice lol. Way too good. Also, about Jufran - we tend to use it on lots of fried foods (chicken, fried eggs in the morning, etc). My favorite thing to eat it with is my mom's fried porkchops and garlic rice :) that's childhood right there!

............ Jollibee should strike a partnership with Jufran. Offer banana sauce as a tangy alternative to the gravy they always give you (by default) when you order fried chicken from them.

the Navy's Seabees in Port Hueneme during the end of the Vietnam war moved a family from ( I want to say Cambodia) in to the condo next door to ours and my parents befriended them. the military got them beds and clothes and just sticks of furniture. They always had a huge bag of rice in the kitchen. they showed us how to make egg rolls but they were vegie and we added pork and made them huge like a pillow. the neighbours liked them spicy hot XD I loved them so much
