The recent Banana Splits film where they were reimagined as evil violent robots was an interesting experiment but I'll take the original 1960's Banana Splits any day. They were alot nicer. Bingo with his glasses & grin looks like a cartoon caricature of Al Franken during his SNL days.

This isnt even that unintentionally creepy. Its a seriously catchy song even for an adult!

I think Bingo is a Micky Dolenz caricature, the glasses just being an accessory. Drooper is a bit like Michael Nesmith, too.

The intro has that San Francisco sound like the Mystery Ship song. I was 6 in Northern California in ‘73 when I first saw the Banana Splits and Danger Island, etc. This song popped into my head the other day after I spoke with a guy named Adam and he was strange so I walked by to my car humming the song. Thanks for sharing !

these clips bring back so many memories. I worked at the recording studio where all the music and sound effects were done. I set up mics all over the studio for the sound effects segments. Members of the Wrecking Crew laid down the music, and cool looking guys with longish hair came in for the vocals. Great times.

Please tell more - fascinating! I'm from England - they don't make 'em like this anymore. I'm an author although not involved with the banana splits. mowbrayguy01@gmail.com

Rather odd lyrics for a tune in a kids' show.

This was before it got all demographic'd to pieces. Even the tunes from kids show bands were made with a radio-friendly groove for everyone.
