Fossils can actually be regularly replaced with diamonds, though the fossils themselves are rare its very unlikely to find one without a few diamonds in it :D

With perfect luck there can be a diamond vein millions of diamonds big, if there were tons of fossils that happen to be 100% out of diamonds, and also huge diamond veins all interconnected
