What makes 80s videos so great is there was no blue print for "making" a video, they were all unique, low budget, minimal production value & zero special effects....and yet they're iconic

100%, and that applies to a lot of 1980s films too. And what do we have nowadays? Bulletproof CGI and amazing stunts but zero originality and very few ‘wow’ films anymore. Seemed like almost every fortnight there was an iconic film come out in the 80s.

I lived it and I regret not stopping and smelling the roses not realizing how good life was in the 80s, we were all to busy partying and having fun, the 80s was a completely totally different world it was true freedom, we assumed the future would even be better, not knowing the future would be a dystopian hell hole.

"I Heard a Rumor", "Venus", "Robert De Niro is Waiting", and "Only Your Love" are next videos for yall to check out. They were a fun poppy new wave, Eurodance group back in the '80s and early '90s. Pretty women, too. They were like the '80s, early '90s version of Spice Girls. Lex will love them! lol They influenced Spice Girls in some ways as well.

You've opened the English Ska band family association with Bananarama. If I remember correctly, the ladies were first the back up singers for The Specials (Ska Gods). Then they became their own group. After the Specials broke up, some of them became the Fun Boy Three and sometimes partnered with Ban. English Beat, The Selector, Bad Manners, Madness, Special Beat Service, General Public.

Okay, to according to Sara Dallin (the tall blonde one, she is almost always in the middle), the song deals with the “darker side” of the traditional summer songs which often have happy themes. It is about the sadness of being all by oneself in the midst of the scorching heat of the summer, thus the title “cruel summer”. About the guffyness act - the Britpop songs from that time was like that - fun fun fun - no matter the lyrics lol - and they were on coke when they made that video - which also were normal in the UK at that time :-) Upon the song’s released in 1983, it was initially not internationally famous until it appeared in the hit 1984 martial arts drama movie 'The Karate Kid' and it moved fast :-) In addition to Cruel Summer being one of the most famous summer songs ever released, the song was included in the list of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 1980’s by VH1. Cruel Summer peaked at number 8 in the UK Singles Chart and number 9 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 10. Since its release in 1983, the song has appeared in many famous films, most notably The Karate Kid. Other notable films to have featured this song include the following: 1985 comedy film 'Fraternity Vacation' 1997’s comedy film 'Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion' 2015’s comedy film 'The Final Girls' directed 1984 The song appeared in the American TV series 'Knight Rider' - 'K.I.T.T vs K.A.R.R' Since the song came out in 1983, many artists and bands has covered that song, most notably the Swedish group 'Ace of Base' in 1998. 'Ace of Base' later covered the song again that same year with the French band 'Alliage'.

Love this track. It's almost like an acapella parallel of cool different beats and melodies. The Wikipedia on this track is pretty eye-opening: "After an exhausting morning shooting in the city in brutal August heat, the band returned to the tavern for lunch. They made the acquaintance of some local dockworkers, who, upon learning of their situation, shared vials of cocaine with them. "That was our lunch," said Fahey, who had never tried the drug before. And actually when they came to the USA they were part of the New British invasion. But it's your right to call it what you want.
