The voice in the chorus is Roland's regular voice. The verses are sung in falsetto. Some other falsetto singers are Philip Bailey (Earth Wind & Fire), Frankie Valli, Prince, El DeBarge, Eddie Kendricks (The Temptations), Michael Jackson, Blue Magic, The Stylistics, Smokey Robinson, Black Ivory, The Delfonics, Ron Banks (The Dramatics), Wayne Cooper (Cameo), Bobby DeBarge (Switch), Maxwell, Jeffrey Daniel (Shalamar), Al Green. Falsetto is also common in 1950s doo wop songs and so is a low bass voice.

FYC is the bomb! You really should do more of their songs. Johnny Come Home or even Suspicious Minds. All really good, and Roland's voice will be sure to draw you in.

Lmao! I’m just remembering ‘In Living Color’ had a small scene parodying these guys. “Fine One Mammals”

You have to try 'Johnny Come Home' - that is IMHO the best FYC song by far.

@Stabis Hop I never thought about it like that, but I just looked at the views for both this song and Johnny Come Home and the views for this song are huge compared👍

@Stabis Hop Yes it does seem to be like that unfortunately. There are loads of gems that people have forgotten that could be revived by a good reaction channel but they just don't have the views on KZbin.

Their cover of suspicious minds is amazing. I had such a crush on Roland back in the day.

They had their brief success in 1987 (I still have the full CD) and it was just like Lex's reaction, they were a fun vibe. Great top 40 radio hit song, great party song in the car, great Friday night house party song. Women particularly liked them, I remember that I bought the CD because my girl friend wanted it. Fun one!

I think the word Lex was looking for is falsetto. Axl Rose and the dude from FYC both employ lots of falsetto in their singing. Not surprising she didn't understand since women generally don't have the falsetto range of men and already have higher voices, so therefore they rarely use it.

Oh my. This takes me back to one of my visits to Jamaica. I was playing pool in a local Rasta bar up on the third level of the bar. Turns out I was playing against their manager. I beat him. But we had so many good talks about the band. Loved that night!!

80's were great adding the video as part of a song. Some went with the meaning of the words. Others, like this gem, were just out there foe more enjoyment of the song.
