I am an old school rock and roll kind of guy, grew up listening to Van Halen, AC/DC and the like. If someone had told me even 5 years ago that I would fall in love with a Japanese band, much less a Japanese band in maid outfits..............I would have looked at them like they were insane. That said.........BAND-MAID is hands down my favorite contemporary rock band. No other currently active band comes close to how much I like these ladies.

The Maids wrote this song as a tribute to the great Freddy Mercury. They were inspired after watching the movie about his life. A lot of the scenes in the video are taken from the movie.

I have no idea how I'm surprised how great this song is every time I hear it. Somehow I seem to forget. Probably because they have 100+ incredible songs.

And IMO one of the very few bands that can hold a candle to Band-Maid in terms of consistently great songs.

The Band-Maid awesomeness "Bubble" is expanding across the land... and that's a good thing because, other than their incredible music, to me they represent decency and joy -- things the world can always use more of. Thx, TRM!

This song was their tribute to the Freddie Mercury / Queen movie Bohemian Rhapsody. If you've seen the movie you's see all the little nods to the film. Orenji has done really good documentaries on all the girls backstories. Even if you don't do reactions to them you should check them out.

With such a prolific output by the Maids, this song often gets lost in the mix. Thanks for reacting to it!

I love that little tip to Freddie Mercury in this.. bless them hehe. The story is somewhat steeped in mirroring an essence of the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic through their own lens.

I agree that it's a damned shame that we don't get real music like this on the radio, in fact personally I quit listening to the radio many year's ago, so I went music less for a long time, it was by coincidence that in 2016 I saw a video of Baby Metal, and I thought to myself, thats kinda cute, and the next suggested song was from Band Maid, my life changed that day after hearing Band Maid for the first time. I have been an avid junkie for everything music related from Japan ever since, especially the ladies, there's so many incredible rock/metal band's, that I've never turned the radio back on, and even saw Band Maid in person this year after not seeing a live show in over 25 year's, I'm hoping to see more Japanese ladies band's in the future, and hopefully my health will allow me to go to Japan in late 24 to see Doll$Boxx/Gacharic Spin show's, good luck on your musical journey, as mine has been awesome once again.

Welcome back to Band-Maid. Another great reaction. Music is a great medicine when you are not feeling well. And Band-Maid is the good stuff!!! 😊 Music Gold Rush episodes 73 and 74 is a great interview to start with. If you want a awesome documentary, check out Ohrenje's 7 part documentary series. Pure gold!!! It's amazing how the time flies by when you're watching the documentaries and it's over before you know it. PO!!!🕊 World Domination!!!🤘😆🤘

Not only my fave Band Maid song, but one of my all time fave songs! dbl ♥ So many great elements! The funky bass, the drumming the anthemic harmonies, the solo blending into Saiki's vocals, the breakdown & that killer riff that ties it all together! Agreed - Murican rock (& mainstream music in general) needs to wake up & listen!
Another expertly crafted Pop track from BAND-MAID. It just gets better each time I listen to it. Just a few of the many things that stand out: 1. KANAMI plots out every single lead note to perfection 2. Another case where KOBATO’s harmonies are below SAIKI’s lead 3. This is one of the earliest examples of SAIKI “Rapping” 4. SAIKI’s vocals in the bridge always catch me by surprise. BTW, AKANE pours Champagne on her drums (“Bubble.” Get it?). No English interviews. Look for videos with translations.
You need to hear their Lollapalooza performance, there is a video with 2 songs sido improved of Dice and Hate, you should check those out. Also their instrumentals - From No On and Onset. I wanted to mention that I binge watched your MTH reactions 🔥💪🏼

The corrupt U.S. music industry doesn’t have their grubby money-loving subterranean claws into them…. Thank God. This is a tribute to Queen/Freddy Mercury. Kind of a take on Bohemian Rhapsody movie. Kanami always keeps it short, sweet and in the same groove as of the song, just one more thing that makes her great.

"Bubble" was used as a theme song for a TV show _Perfect Crime._ If you want to know them better, I highly suggest a set of documentaries on Ohrenje's channel. It starts with Saiki, and follows with documentaries for Kanami, Akane, and MISA, and a three-part documentary for Miku. We have a couple of local independent FM stations here - one seems to focus on alt rock and the other on grunge but they both play a lot of smaller less well known bands (along with the radio favorites). I think I might start requesting Band-Maid and see if they'll at least give them a chance.

hello. It was a fun reaction again this time, thank you. I envy you, why is that? That's right, because you can now listen to over 100 BAND-MAID songs for the first time. Their instrumental songs and ballads are both great.

May I suggest Ohrenje's channel documentries...Starting with Saiki (singer)...then Kanami (lead guitar, main composer), Akane (drums, perscussion), MISA (Bass), Miku (Rhythm Guitar, vocals. main lyricist.).....Miku founded the band..and its the longest doc...These should give you a much better idea of the members and their history.
@Bodneyblue Жыл бұрын
Oh!...forgot to mention...Any backing tracks heard are produced by Kanami...Either digitally...or if keyboard...are played by her. As she is a fine pianist. You do see her play the opening notes on piano at the start of the "Start Over" MV.

I saw a couple documentary videos on you tube about this band, they are worth checking out. I started with the Akane one because I was impressed with the drummer and then started on the multiple part one with the guitarist, very interesting videos.

Dude you have soooo many great songs to look forward to. This is top tier music on every level. I suggest Choose me, Blooming or...Sense, maybe Unleash? Too many songs to choose from really but their official channel has all the MV's just pick anything, we'll watch. Wait! do Different! Because the title of the song makes it obvious.

And off stage (and sometimes even on it during performances) to me anyway. They remind me of a 21st century all female Japanese version of the Marx brothers. Extremely personable charismatic and funny. Keep up the good work hope to see. Many more reactions to them on your channel. Keep up the good work !

Kanami decided you needed that guitar solo to hear - because 2 seconds later she knew that Saiki was gonna say "Hey! Listen!" - and she didn't want you to have any excuses! Hey, good job TRM, with one tiny exception. You didn't sing along with the whoa's - but hey, listen - it's your first time so we'll let you slide.

Great reaction. The problem is not only in the US. The UK is similar but there are some great hard rock bands here- Nova Twins and the lesser known Witch Fever. The genus transitions- Akane's drumming- Polyrhythms?
@GaryHolloway-810 Жыл бұрын
I'd never heard of either of them. Tbh since discovering B-M in 2017 i haven't been looking at much anywhere else. Hey they were both pretty good. So i listened to Witch Fever "Reincarnate" (for obvious reasons) & Nova Twins "Antagonist". Similar speaky sing shout vocals & crunchy riffs but Jeez the tuning on Nova twins was so rumbly i thought they had Low E tuning with the string tension as loose as spaghetti. If i had to choose based on those 2 songs alone i'd give it narrowly to Nova Twins cos i thought the singer had the better range over all :)

Same here, since 2019 no other groups except Band Maid. I yet to expand a bit my listening repertoire. Even adding Nemophila is not yet in line. Maybe in a year or two, unless Maids unleash a couple more albums. Then I’ll be stuck for at least five years.
@GaryHolloway-810 Жыл бұрын
@@haggaisimon7748 Haha. Yeah it's hard to look away from the Maids. It took so long for them to come along & play new, exciting Rock music rather than the same ol' same ol' stuff we'd heard for decades that i can't even envisage it happening again.
@grahamreed8774 Жыл бұрын
Hi Gary. Glad you took the time to try these bands. I've seen them both recently and they both have a great stage presence. While Band-Maid don't tour the UK I'm still going to lots of other live music as I've always done- "Man Cannot live by bread alone". I respect your comments re Band-Maid- how's Miku's tennis coming along?
