"Ah, so you wanna react to more of their songs." "Duuuhhh!" This was, of course, the only appropriate answer to that question. :-D And 'Dice' is an excellent song. Looking forward to the reaction. Cheers!

@bobespirit21122 жыл бұрын
I second that recommendation! It’s outstanding - but it does have some very hard rock sections, but nothing harsh or overly brash to the ears. Our beloved Maids always manage to keep their sound fun & pleasant somehow 😀 “Domination” - official live video Another great live performance is the song “Freedom” - official live video - talk about a joyous group of young musicians - you’ll see it on this one - with a special surprise bonus!! However, as others have said they do have many mellower and pop-oriented tunes. A few of those are - “Start Over” - official MV - “About Us” - official live video - “Wonderland” - official live video - “Endless Story” - official MV - “Page” - official live video - “Catharsis” - official live video - “Bubble” - official MV But if you want a happy, upbeat hard rock song, they are the masters at that: - “Dice” - official MV - “Warning” - official MV - “Domination” - official MV - “Glory” - official MV And many more…they are special. Enjoy the journey! 😎✌🏼

If your preference is for less rocky songs then you will be pleased to hear they have a ton of those too - Daydreaming, Page, Smile, Wonderland, About Us, Start Over and Endless Story to name a few. If you would prefer not to have electric guitars then they do acoustic versions of their songs too such as Puzzle and Anemone ( make sure you have a box of tissues handy to dry your eyes). Last December 21st they did an online concert of 14 acoustic songs which was absolutely outstanding not only did it accentuate the brilliant vocal abilities of Saiki but also showed what outstanding song arrangers they are ,Kanami principally (although Miku's arrangement of Sayonakidori was a particular highlight), revamping several heavy songs into acousic masterpieces.

Welcome aboard, Faro & Sofi. You are embarking on (along with many others - 145 million YT views plus over 30 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (118 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World” and new single drops), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5XWaJppgpJnorM Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Sense, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis! And many songs are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. kzbin.info Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHLHiKF_h896l80 Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th “Domination” kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5PcgnaAo5ulj8k ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6K0n35_gbdoq5I Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 (The last two are on bandmaidprime.tokyo and DVD/BD/CD) And some of the better quality 2019 tour Fan vids are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues: Taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZCUpZttmNmag9E And by JOSER8845 in LA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6S6i6mifKx3idU. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 28 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 30 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 30 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 31 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 29 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS] BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. An Info Dump for you about Band-Maid. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku contacted her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her. Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. Now we have the "Core" members. I'm not too sure about the part but if I am wrong other Maidiacs will correct me in the comments. The 4 members worked out some songs and a setlist and from my understanding, they had actually performed 2 or 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. I may be wrong on that so don't take that as canon. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. (I'm not sure about this part as I can't find the comment I read over on Reddit) She had been a member of a group with 8 other people and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool Clothes", and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until I believe it was 2 days before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which only charted to #26 in Japan. Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album hadn't even charted, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their KZbin channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. The following info is from a comment left by KZbin user @DanW60 Thrill was from their album New Beginning which was released in November, 2015. They didn't write any of the songs or lyrics on the album and it was only 33 minutes. As mentioned, Miku didn't even know how to play guitar at the time. The album went nowhere in Japan and their small label called Gump was about to drop them. Gump's plan was to keep Miku and Saiki as a singing and dancing duo and let the rest go. Then a miracle happened. The music video for Thrill became a huge hit on KZbin, especially in the west. Band-Maid was saved and they changed labels to Crown Stones (a sub-label to a really big Japanese media company called Nippon Crown). Their 2016 album, Brand New maid, peaked at #19 on the Japanese charts but only one song was written by Kanami and it was only 31 minutes in length. Finally, in January 2017, they released the album Just Bring It which was a full album at 50 minutes. More importantly, 9 of the 13 songs were written by Kanami. In my opinion, it was the first true Band-Maid album. The album got as high as #16 in Japan and also charted in the UK. The next 3 albums - World Domination, Conqueror and Unseen World - all charted top 10 in Japan and charted overseas. All the songs were written by Kanami. She is the one that has pushed Misa and Akane to be as good as they are now, and also very successfully taught Miku to play guitar.

Just a small correction - Miku is not the drummer, that is Akane. Miku is the rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist. I've heard it described that Akane is the band leader, but she, Miku and lead-guitarist Kanami all serve in leadership roles. Miku is the band's founder and their main spokesperson to the public and is also the main lyrics writer. And Kanami is the main composer of their music. Band-Maid is just one of many all-female rock and metal bands in Japan, and there are several more in other countries. Some that may be of interest to you may be Lovebites and Nemophila of Japan, Voice of Baceprot from Indonesia, and the Warning from Mexico. Lovebites - power metal, thrash metal, traditional heavy metal, but with extremely melodic clean vocals (the vocalist comes from an R&B background). All virtuoso-level musicians. They sing entirely in English. One member Miyako is a world-class performer on two instruments, guitar and piano, as you can see in this video: Swan Song with Chopin intro: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXPLpaSdnr14d5Y Nemophila - hard rock, metalcore, power metal, thrash metal, with a mix of extremely melodic clean vocals and some screams. Like Lovebites, also all virtuoso-level musicians. They sing in a mix of Japanese and English, like Band-Maid. These two songs, the Arabic-flavored Hypnosis and their newest song Adabana showcase almost all of their strengths: Hypnosis - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWjMd2R4j5hpmbc Adabana - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6m8moKtqNpprbc Voice of Baceprot - hard rock, funk metal, heavy metal. They are a power trio of young Muslim ladies from Indonesia, heavily influenced by Rage Against the Machine. They sing mainly in English. Insanely talented bassist! The story behind this song is that they allegedly asked their Imam if it would be a sin to play rock music, and he told them that they would need to ask God that question. So this song is, in part, that prayer. God Allow Me (Please) to Play Music - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYG5oJKHrrhjftk The Warning - hard rock, some metal. They are a trio of sisters from Mexico (the bassist Alejandra is only 17, and they started when she was 9!). They sing mainly in English, but also have a couple songs in Spanish. Their strongest points are the song-writing and all three ladies are vocalists, so there are a lot of really beautiful two-part and three-part harmonies. Here are a few of their songs, an acoustic ballad, a song in Spanish, and a heavier song in English, all of which showcase their vocal harmonies. Revenant - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIXdm32EnKafis0 Martirio - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYOkZKGDr6tmZ68 Evolve - kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZC1c2Oqh65paJY

Welcome to the world of Band-Maid. For your taste, try Daydreaming official MV for a power ballad. Dice is great but it is a rock song (not hard rock though) which I'm sure you'll like anyway. You will be amazed how much you like them.

You two are funny. Girl bands are the best for more reasons than you know. They are waaaaay less pretentious they guys. And gel together better than guys. Plus their cuter. DICE is an excellent choice. And BLOOMING and WARNING and........... BAND-MAID are an Awesome band. Peace.

Pet peeve Just cos they're Japanese artists doesn't mean it's Anime! If this was a western band doing this, anime wouldn't even figure in the conversation

Agree, it's really only anime music if it is written specifically for anime with the lyrics containing themes about the specific anime it is going to feature in. It can be jpop, rock, hard rock, metal , thrash metal or any variation therein. Sometimes songs not written specifically for anime are used but that doesn't magically make them anime music. Using Genre to describe anime music seems to be a complete misnomer to me unless you accept that the lyric content makes them a genre.
