To see a crowd that gives Band Maid the response they deserve? Check out their show in Mexico 🇲🇽 Mexican Maidiacs know how to bring it! I was so impressed by them essentially taking over the chorus from Saiki in “Don’t you tell ME!”

I love Band Maid and wish they were invited to more rock festivals in the U.S. and maybe in Europe. They should be invited to play a later hours when there is a larger audience. At Lollapalooza, the Maids were the first J-rock band invited to perform at the festival in 13 years. So naturally the were thrilled and it showed in their performance of a one hour set. Band Maid is one of the best live performing bands out there. Every time.

There can be such a mishmash or haze of competing sounds and sound levels at live performances . Band Maid cuts through all the crap and delivers a live performance for the ages ! I've watched this an average of twice a week since it's release and it just never gets old ! They are collectively entrancing ! ♥️😘

Not a bad mix for live TV. Also know that this was 1:30 in the afternoon and they'd just played a 90 minute MIDNIGHT set for the Lollapalooza after-party at a theater the night before, slept and did it again.

As far as crowd reaction goes, this Hulu broadcast is a bit misleading. There's a fancam of the whole show and they were won over by the first song, the instrumental ' From Now On' and they looked and sounded into every song after that. It was an astonishing performance, how they kept their energy up was a mystery considering that this started a little over 12 hours after their previous concert ended around 1 a.m that morning.

I think the most astonishing thing bout this is they did this hr long set in the sun n heat at 1:45pm... 12hrs or so after playing a full show the night before. I get adrenalin, but damn. This is a good one to show your guests, especially the musicians

On the one hand, Band-Maid was the first Japanese band at Lollapalooza since X-Japan, on the other hand, way too early on a smaller stage. On the third hand, the crowd probably doubled during their set. Surely at least some hadn't heard of them, or wondered if they are worth the hype. They played Rockville in Daytona back in May. There was a thunderstorm that pushed the schedule back so they started after dark, and to a much larger audience. Just watching the fan videos, it seemed more natural. But Lollapalooza is one of the big boys, so hopefully it raises their profile. When I first heard "Unleash" I liked *"Hate?"* but the track that stood out was *"from now on."* After seeing this live, *"Hate?"* just seethes. Paired with *"Dice"* it makes a great mid-show power rock section. Notice at 7:47 how Miku sneaks back in in the background, adding beef to the return to the jam and the "real" guitar solo (the one that's on the album). It makes your head bang. It's so satisfying!

This was their 2nd performance at Lollapalooza. They had done a full set the night before. Lollapalooza was a huge boost for them in the US and Japan. looks like the Maid Costumes WORK - Lollapalooza Reviews. CHICAGO SUN-TIMES The Japanese rock act is the quintessential example of not judging a book (or a band) by its cover. Inspired by everyone from Carlos Santana to Deep Purple and Smashing Pumpkins, but looking like demure movie characters, Band-Maid is a total exploration of contrast, and about as shock rock as you can be nowadays - not for the blood and gore of, say, GWAR, but for the immediate hypnosis they impart. - Selena Fragassi ROLLING STONE Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Fluctuating between hard rock, aughts nu-metal, and pop rock, each member of the quintet is a virtuoso in her own right with more than a decade of practice in Band-Maid alone. They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear. -N.C.

Now Im sorry I didn't go to that show. Not as crowded as I had feared. And that yellow bass is just as lethal outside as in. I think they slept in their uniforms. I saw them the night before and security had the access to the front door roped off just after Band-Maid finished. Then Band-Maid came down the side and walked right out the front door still in uniform. They waved and smiled.

@TehPhysics
@TehPhysics 10 ай бұрын
@@jonasw3945 Nope. I'll never let this slide. One of the most unprofessional directing jobs I've ever seen. You don't have to be familiar with the band, or even the song to know what a bass sounds like. MISA was soloing on bass for almost a minute before she appears on camera. Guitar solo? How about a close-up shot of Akane's drums for no reason. This was terribly directed. I'm not fond of the Japanese hyper-cutting style of shots lasting no more than 3 seconds, but I'll take that over this unfocused, seemingly random style.Why am looking at Saiki sitting on the drum platform during a bass/guitar battle? I _love_ me some Saiki, but come on! I'm just going to be irrationally angry about this forever.

@@TehPhysics What are you talking about ? have you never seen live camera work before ? You do have to know how the song goes to better direct it, how do you expect the director to show Misa if no cameraman was filming her ? How would the camera man know when he would need to focus on her if he doesn't know she has a random back and forth solo part with the guitarist at one point in the song ? use your brain a little instead of being angry at nothing Also what do you mean by "Japanese hyper-cutting style of shots lasting no more than 3 seconds" ? When have you ever seen that in any live broadcast even in Japan ? it seems you never actually seen any live broadcast of band perfromance ever lol. All the live performances you see for japanese bands are post-produced, meaning the director had all the footage of the entire concert in his hands and all the time to switch and decide which one to show for the Blu-ray release, in a live setting the director doesn't have any of that and has to work with what he has and a good rule of thump is generally to focus most of the time on the frontman (front woman in this case so Saiki and that's why there was focus on her during part of the solo) and change depending on which camera feed is most relevant depending on which part of the song (and knowledge of the song/band helps to better know what to expect) but here not only the band is not known, the song isn't either but also they decided to have a different arrangement and solo part, the director most likely only understood what the band was doing after the first Misa solo and you can see they got it right after Kanami's part (most likely informed the cameramen what to do too). It actually shows good professionalism from him to quickly understand the situation and deal with it

People like to complain about the camera work but to be fair, it was a live broadcast. The call and response of "Hate" is not on the studio version so the director couldn't know it was coming. There's only so many cameramen. Their rigs are about 60 lbs, not quickly moved around. If you watch the entire set you can catch glimpses of them. One guy has a steady cam. He looks like the one on Kanami. The others are on full sized tripods. Takes a while to set up. Th director probably was yelling at the cameraman on the left to get on MISA, but it's not immediate.

I've seen a sound check at a festival. The stage manager latched right on to MISA and she shamlessly flirted with him to get the bass turned way up. Yeah the fest crew has so many bands playing just one set that they can't know them all. I saw the after show the night before and the light guy was all over the place.
