The 2022 US tour had taught these talented ladies well about pacing and stamina. I was fortunate enough to catch 2 of their NY local area shows toward the end of the tour. This is a common tactic of Band Maid. They will take 2/3 songs for each tour season and add extra bits to increase the wow factor. What is unusual is they will only do that specific extra bits that tour. They do not repeat it next tour. That is how sure they are of their musicianship. I have seen most of the fancam versions of Dice/HATE and the performance levels are all top notch. Except the version from their tour finale at Yokohama. That version was OFF the charts.
@TherealSeriousMoonlight10 ай бұрын
Correct, they debuted this Dice/Hate? double with the extended duel feature at this concert (the kickoff for the 10th anniversary second half) and continued playing it through Yokohama. (But you know that.) "They do not repeat it next tour." True until this okyuji, where they revived the 2018 tour duel during "Don't You Tell Me". The extended feature in the middle of "Domination" Official Live from Line Cube Shibuya is a one-off AFAIK, no one's ever corrected me anyway.

Even for video shoots, they all seem to either be cold enough to see their breath, or hot as blazes like the Influencer video where it was almost 99F. So - years before this I swore I'd never go to Lollapalooza again, as the crowds were so insane for the headliners that it just wasn't worth it to endure them. Then Lolla announced their lineup. I can't NOT go see Band-Maid when they're playing in my backyard (more or less). Then - they announced that they'd be playing the previous night too in a midnight show at Park West. So - two shows within about 12 hours of each other. Being an old fart, I promptly looked for a hotel downtown and after recovering from a small heart attack at the prices of hotels during Lolla, I did my thing. (I've spent a lot of money to see this band and don't regret a cent of it!) So here's the thing on the crowd. Remember this - there was NO other act the entire day that did hard rock or metal. I did see a small indie group that was nice to listen to, but otherwise it was all hip hop or (gasp) DJ's. Band-Maid, luckily for me but not the ladies, played early - at 1 or 2pm or something like that. Many attendees don't even show up that early. The crowd I thought at the time of the start was disappointingly small for this reason. It was not at all like their regular shows, like the one I saw at the HOB San Diego, where the crowd is all in, insanely loud and it's just a big love fest. But here, the number of fans did increase, especially after they had another cool bass/guitar duel in their awesome track "Don't You Tell ME!". The show the night before was also far from sold out, but it was late, and it does make it more difficult for surburbanites like myself to attend. Both shows were needless to say, fantastic! I hope they do this same thing next year, because I'd do it again in a heartbeat!!

There are many great groups in Japan, including "Baby Metal". “Band Maid” Kanami has composed over 130 songs, all of which are wonderful. She is also said to be a genius. Miku, who plays the side guitar, writes all the lyrics. “Akane” on drums and “Misa” on bass are amazing technicians as you can see. In particular, ``Akane'' has amazing stamina as well as technique, and is called the ``gorilla.'' Singer “Saiki” is also a great singer. It is rare to find a group with such world-class members. All the new songs are amazing. Please enjoy it.🤩

When I first watched a BAND-MAID video it was THRILL (2014/15) and I was taken back by their talent, their song of choice which was in contrast to their outfits and, I confess, their kawaii appearance in general. That said, after the second song I heard from these five gals (REAL EXISTENCE) it was the music that carried me into fandom. Lastly, and just as important to me, their kinship with each other and their genuine charisma put them on top of every other talented act today. I saw them a few days after this performance. Everyone had seen this video and we were ready for the transition between the two songs and the huge duel. Life changing.

Thanks for your entertaining and informative reactions. You are one of the best Band Maid reactors in my opinion. Keep up:)

That's Miku's signature guitar, the Zemaitis Flappy Pigeon. It has a rose engraving in mother of pearl and dozens of big and little pigeons engraved in the metal front.

People complaining about the mix or saying it isn't good are missing the mark. This is a pretty decent recording of a live outdoor show with no post production. There is nothing I can't hear in this.

It's because they are used to the pro shot live vids.

The original Hulu feed was good. This version has been downloaded and reuploaded enough times that it's become overly compressed. The treble, especially Kanami has become muddled. People complain about the video, but I doubt they would do better. They had only so many cameras and so much to film. The bass and guitar call and response was done earlier in the set, and and this was the first time done for "Hate." The director could not have expected it.

Prescription: Take one Band-Maid video as often as possible. Possible side effects include: Melted face and/or brain. Worth(?): Absolutely!

There hasn't been a Flappy Pigeon for sale in the wild since Dec 2022. Last one that sold went for over $6000. They may move privately, but I think most of us take the "From my cold, dead hands" approach when it comes to our FP.

Their shows are pretty different. I think they played over 100 different songs across their 2023 tour. They tend to have a set of openers and a set of closers but they mix up what gets played in the middle considerably. One of the things that was consistent for every show after this one was that they played Dice+Hate? with the extended guitar/bass duel. I saw them in Anaheim which was rather hot and the notable differences were that Kanami chugs water before coming in slightly late but EXTREMELY aggressively on Hate?, also instead of sitting Saiki watered Akane. They really seem to try making every set special in some way. The night before I saw them in Anaheim they played Shambles for the first time live in Sacramento (roughly a week after releasing it online). At my show they played Rinne for the first time live outside of Japan. Once they got back to Japan they dropped IIRC 3 unreleased songs across that leg of their tour.

This is a kick-ass performance… so raw and fun! And you know there are quite a few people in that crowd who have never heard them before, so that’s awesome to think about. And, as cool as it is to see them display their talents this way, my favorite moments are Saiki’s smiles as her bandmate’s are going off!
@bandmaidfanATL10 ай бұрын
I've seen Saiki a little more than glisten before late in a couple of shows, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone else actually sweat. But Kanami did throw her headpiece in frustration at Aftershock one time cause it kept sliding down her face. BandMaid - never let them see you sweat 🤣

I think the reason we love Hate so much is because the Maids have so much fun playing it. They get to go wild. Especially Saiki, since she wrote the lyrics. And Dice is just quintessential, hard rock Band-Maid at its finest. Thx, Ms Picc! 🤘😂

What I love are the HUNDREDS of people who being won over from knowing noting at all in the middle of the afternoon. I am reminded of 1979 in Germany at a festival around 3pm tons of GI;s and Germans and the announcer just said Jets SCORPIONS! The Germans in the crowd surged and the GI's waiting for Cheap Trick and The Who just looked a a lab puppy hearing siren.

They for sure is one of the most entertaining bands to see live. Mostly because they always give 100%. Misa and Akane is one of my favourite rythm sections. Kind of reminds me of Geddy Lee and Neil Peart. Always in the pocket. About Valentines day? Nah.. haven't been in a relationship. Obviously not good for my psyche.. Because of different reasons. You for sure must have had a great one! You're such a bundle of joy, so don't see any reason for why a man shouldn't give you any attention!

This was a great reaction! It’s always nice to see people smile or laugh while enjoying something. And there are a lot of these emotions in your video! I love this! BAND-MAID is always amazing! I really enjoy seeing your reactions to this band. Since you haven't talked much about Miku, you should watch their live video "Sayonakidori" Acoustic Ver. on their official KZbin channel. This is one of the "Miku songs"! And of course, you should watch BAND-MAID documentaries by Ohrenje! Thank you for the video! More BAND-MAID on the channel! And I suggest you to watch another Japanese all female band called Lovebites. You will be impressed. They are much heavier than BAND-MAID! I suggest you to start with their live video "Holy war" from their official KZbin channel!

Miku has a real nice line of guitars from Zamaitis. You have to look for it, but there's a video that shows all of them. It might even be in the documentary about Miku. She has some outstanding designs. She has a really nice Flying V. I just LOVE watching your reactions, it's about the same experience as a live show with Band Maid, lol.

Besides the sheer joy of watching their live concerts, I think you would really love owning some of their concert blurays. The reason is that you have spoken in the past on how the song might sound differently with lyrics or without. Well, on their concert blurays, they usually include 2-3 "White Room" videos that take a song and film it as a pure instrumental. No singer (with no disrespect meant to the wonderful and talented Saiki). But it isn't just filmed as a straight video. It is filmed as a whole (like you'd expect), and also 4 additional versions each featuring JUST one member. Want to watch the song played with total focus on Misa? You can. On Akane? You can - etc. And they remain mostly static, letting you actually SEE what they are playing. But further, one of the more incredible aspects is that often times, the song sounds *completely* different without the vocals - like a totally different song. Obviously maybe don't watch until you've reacted to everything you wish on the channel. But I think you'd really enjoy owning and watching them eventually.

Though many people were disappointed in the video work done by the Hulu channel people I figured to look at the bright side of getting views from the backstage cameras and of Akane from an angle not usually seen. Glad you watched this. They performed this duo also at the Yokohama final concert of the tour, and also at all the stops in between.

The only thing we completely missed was one of Kanami's solos and MISA's first part of the duel. We pretty much got everything else we would have wanted to see, I think. And we did get some neat shots of Akane, who tends to get a bit ignored in the back. So I can't really be mad about it.

I’m glad you are enjoying your journey. I knew you were going to click with these ladies. As others have mentioned Miku’s guitar is her Zemaitis signature model with a number of elements she helped design from the large flying (flapping) pigeon down to her hand written Zemaitis logo under the strings between the pickups. As far as I know it’s also the only Zemaitis model with the metal front cut away to reveal the rose inlay she wanted on the body. It’s one of the prettiest guitars I’ve ever seen.

They recently had refined their "Fighting gear." They commissioned @kimikatrock, a boutique vintage dress designer, to develop gear unique to each personality. I think the Look is Maid Cafe Biker Chic, Po! You can clearly see it in their latest offering, "Unleash Live MV," Po! 🦍🍌

Akane is beating that kit like it's rented... which of course it is since they're touring! My heart hopes the video director is learning and growing in their role. They certainly earned a spot in Band-Maid lore, for good or bad. Good thing the fan-base are kind people. Thanks for the reaction!

Saiki is standing on the stage smiling and enjoying her companions as they jam out, and I can imagine her thinking "I should hire this band for my next party! They are amazing!" The camera work is often wrong -- looking at the wrong musician -- and the voice mikes are weak ... but with such a duel between Misa and Kanami who cares that much! Saiki talks about dripping with sweat during the first four songs of their Christmas acoustic concert.

Great reaction and when they hit the stage the temperature was between 95-100F. The girls later said this was the hottest show they've ever played. Also, the lyrics to HATE? were written by the main singer, Saiki, about her friend's husband caught cheating on her, which caused a huge scandal in Japan.

I saw them do this at the concert in Minneapolis right after the Lollapolooza show. It was the 4th time I’ve seen them live. I made friends with another dude who had not seen them live yet. When they got to Hate his jaw hit the floor. He said that there was nothing that could have prepared him for seeing them live despite seeing their KZbin videos.
