Totally agree with you, I found them 6 months ago. I've listened to hard rock and metal since it was invented in the 70s. Finally we got Band-Maid, the best hard rock band since Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy. I started playing guitar because of those two bands, I still play bass in a few bands today. MISA has become my latest inspiration when it comes to playing the bass, she does things on the bass I've never heard before.

On a recent survey on the Band-Maid reddit page 90 people listed their top 5 Band-Maid songs. 83 of their songs appeared in at least one top 5 list. Their catalog is deep and their ages are only 27-30. The #1 mentioned song was Daydreaming. It's more of a ballad, but it's perfectly written and executed. I love me some Alex Lifeson and David Gilmour, but the solo by that tiny, polite Japanese woman is legit in my top 5 favorite of all time.

DICE has great lyrics of Miku Kobato. It is a song that supports women's independence. The girl is blindfolded in the dark and holding a doll. She is trapped in her own world without seeing the outside world. But in her life the dice are rolled and unexpected things happen. You can enjoy it too. At the end of the song, the screen is wrapped in light, and the girl stands up, removes her blindfold, and walks into the light. One moment of pain Ten moment of delight I'll look for the reason Let's get started As soon as you think about moving forward and backward Winning or losing Dice was thrown Dispel the imperfect situation Just for me

I hear Band-Maid EVERY FRKING DAY! It gives me so much joy and energy... My wife thinks i am a little bit crazy about them (YES I AM!), but she also likes them, not her type of music, but she appreciates the talent and loves the outfits. I think they are without ANY DOUBT the most talented band right now. The songwriting, musicianship, how charismatic they are, the chemistry, their live perfomances and WORKRATE is INSANE! It sets them so far ahead from any other band, they put other bands to shame and shows how lazy some bands REALLY are... That´s just my opinion and if you think about it how much success some other bands had with maybe 2-3 riffs in their whole career it´s getting a little bit sad, these ladies deserve so much more! Context of this song: Miku mentioned on some interview that it's Band-Maid's response to Hikikomori - Japanese anti-social phenomenon, when people completely withdraw themselves from any social interactions and living life of isolation and confinement like hermits. Millions of people waste their live like that, especially in "pandemic" time.

Glad you like that one. Love that you agree with us Maidiacs that Band Maid is the best band out there. For me, best live show to come around since I attended Queen concerts during the 1970s. You asked what to watch next. In my comment to your last reaction, I offered official live versions of "Play", "Onset", and "Freedom". But truth is, it doesn't matter so much with which song you start. All roads lead down the same rabbit hole. I've seen people enter every which way.

Funny reaction! I just knew this band since this pandemic started last year. I was actually bored at home and started looking at the KZbin any new rock bands that I haven't heard it before and Band-Maid showed up. TBH, when I heard the name and their outfits I thought it was another pop-ish band. And then, when I heard and watched their first song, Real Existence.. I was shocked! And, there is a so much different and contrast between their looks and songs! These ladies can rock hard! I mean REALLY rock hard. Since then, I become their HUUUUGE fans. And, there is no 1 bad song. Every songs they have are a blast! Check out more songs on their channel. If not, subscribe their Band-Maid Prime. I can guarantee you it is worth the money! BTW, music doesn't need translation. It's a universal language.

One of my current favorite songs/music videos is "Warning". It's a hard driving rock song and in the video you have racing cars, crashes, explosions and maids strapped to the top of speeding cars a la Mad Max while playing. It doesn't get more rock than that!

FYI Their core fan base (at least in the USA) seems to be people who love classic rock. I notice you guys do quite a bit of classic rock on your channel, so you might want to mention Band-Maid in some of those videos for classic rock fans that would like to discover a young, active band. I just found you guys recently, but I found Band-Maid from a reaction channel similar to yours where they were doing classic rock and also Band-Maid. Band-Maid kept popping up on my screen and I avoided them because I just assumed they were pop or something, but I eventually bit on one of them. I think within 2 days I had watched everything on KZbin by them. I wish one of those reactors had recommended them and pointed out they are definitely rock and roll.

That’s my story as well. I’m 55 years old… classic rock and metal runs in my veins, and Band Maid is in the very top tier of bands, IMO. Their technical skills are matched by their compositional skills. Zeppelin might be the only other band i can think of that has as large a catalog, and yet maintains such consistently high quality. Freedom (live) is a great choice, as is Onset (live). Also you’d love The Dragon Cries music video. That one is sung in all english. All are on their official channel, and they don’t mind reactions to them.

Going back to Nippon Budokan then Tokyo dome would be the pinnacle of seeing Band Maid live. That's it, Po! BTW, about the lyrics. They are very well thought out and very deep. Guys, I know EXACTLY how you feel. Four months ago "Dice" was my gateway drug. Legit chills from the very opening drum and bass lines, then the rifle shot from the lead guitar launched me into the stratosphere....sweating. I seriously couldn't believe it was real....until I paid closer attention to the drummer. The way Akane moves behind her kit, particularly the triplet leading into the breakdown (overhead shot of her) was the clincher. Now, I need a 12 step program (NOT HAPPENING!) Best band I have ever heard/seen/experienced. Rock on, gentlemen!

Stop with the false rumors. Jimmy Page attended Rock in Tokyo in 2016. After watching Band-Maid perform he sent his people backstage and asked to meet with the band's drummer Hirose Akane. She thought she was being punked at first. She met with him and they were photographed together. No one was privy to their private conversation. No one. Akane later said about the meeting "Mr. Jimmy Page-San offered me many words of encouragement and I promised him l would do my very to live up to his kind words." That's the full extent of it. There were several bands there and he only requested to meet with A-chan. No one else. That is what happened. And yes Band-Maid is hands down the best hard rock band working anywhere on the planet and the most prolific songwriters ( the team of Kobato-Tono) this millennium.

Lyric from this song for me, "May I take your order?" I order more Band Maid! One of the things I love about Band Maid is that each and every one of these ladies are featured and prominent in every song! I like to think of Saiki's voice is another instrument adding to the overall excellence of each song! When we Maidiac's say no bad songs, we truly mean it! Play and Freedom from Feb 2021 and No God, live, from 2021, are great next songs! Onset and Without Holding Back are instrumentals that are not to be missed! Japanese is a very cool language! There are no better bands on the planet, good bands, yes, but none better! I saw people recommending The Warning and, yes, they are fantastic too, just not a musically complex and dense as these amazing ladies! I'll throw out Liliac(Lilly-Ack), an American five member band that like The Warning, is all siblings, and is another fantastic band! Music is alive and well in 2021!

I'll raise the bet and say they are the best rock band ever. You don't need to understand music because when it's well spoken feelings are all the words you need. They have music for everybody: If they wanna go hard they'll go harder than anyone and all the way around too with their ballads, mixing a lot of genres since jazz and blues to punk and pop, most times in the same song and always with a unique touch of creativity, licks, riffs, rolls, cymbals, slaps, belts... all-in on a perfect harmony. More than a hundred quality songs speak for them, no need to rant. I'll suggest some classics before even going with their new album which is, as always, fantastic: Freedom live, Rinne mv, The Dragon Cries mv (this one is a classic rock song produced by Tony Visconti with the girls, sung completely in English), Daydreaming mv, Don't You Tell ME mv, Onset live (instrumental), Choose Me mv.. And I can keep going on forever, but I think that's a good gourmet menu to get started with this legend in the making band 🤘🕊️

Here's my take on DICE's lyrics: I know the "dice" have already been thrown (as in her lyrics), but I choose to look at it as stop being indecisive, sitting in a dark room playing with dolls (TV, toys, games, etc.). "Seize the moment", roll the dice, open your eyes, and walk into the light! Miku's lyrics, especially after translation, can be a bit cryptic - open for interpretation, as are all poems and lyrics. But their music is always right on point which melds the two into wonderful songs of possibilities!

One of my top 5 favorite songs of theirs. MISA, the Barefoot Assassin, kills that bass. The only songs I have ever watched with subtitles are The Dragon Cries, because it's all in English, and About Us, because it was written for the fans because of the pandemic. Miku is a genius lyricist, mixing Japanese and English. If you read the lyrics you will get what the song is about from the English lyrics she mixes into her writing. Band-Maid are the top of rock today, Japan or the world, doesn't matter, they are the very best hard rock band in the last 30 years.

Uh, no. Not knowing Miku's words would be ridiculous. I have to know and it is not very hard to find out what she is saying. Just about every single song Kobato-Tono have written is Miku speaking directly to the Maidiacs and fans. She has something to say and it is important for people to hear and understand exactly what. You just might be surprised. I will assume you were just using hyperbole to underscore just how good the music by itself is and that is true. But the message, if anything, is even more important.

They can go hard at times, but their sound is definitely a variety of rock sounds.. There are so few pure rock bands.. There are several great metal bands, because there are about 40 different sub genre's of the metal sound for a band to master their own slice of the metal world. I also think metal expanded into all those sub genre's to fill the void created due to a serious lack of rock music.

It isn't quite true that they never change their outfits, but it /is/ pretty infrequent and you can pretty much tell when any video was in relation to another based on what generation of outfit they are wearing. But they are all variations of maid outfits. Miku and Kanami are typical maids, Akane has more sporty maid outfit (shorts), Misa is an assassin maid and Saiki is wearing a hostess maid dress. Or at least that's how I see it, YMMV. They all choose how their outfits will evolve and look, so it is what they want (as it should be!). Keep the Band Maid reactions rolling! Sooooo much more for you to see.

I'm not sure how to score the Dice 'reactors vs. doll' tallies here. You both say the doll is creepy, but then you both say that you like it. 'Dolls are creepy' and 'I like the doll' happen to be our two previously established categories and you can't be in both camps at the same time. Half in each wouldn't be anything but a wash but upon further review I'm starting to get the feeling that you like the doll BECAUSE it's creepy. I'll put you both down as 'liking the doll.' That category was desperately in need of more numbers. You two join just one other reactor who liked the doll vs. a whole bunch of reactors who were creeped out by it. I'd like to second one of the suggestions from the previous reaction to go watch Freedom (live). If you do go with Rinne (Rin-nay) be sure to watch the music video, as the live has an entire verse cut out to fit the TV program for which they performed it.
