+Amettion Miku Kobato, the band member with the "twin-tails" hairstyle who is playing rhythm guitar writes most of their lyrics. This is the beginning of 'Dice': "You should be knowing that situation you got Backtracking or something like that isn't possible anymore Your status, worthiness and even the time You cried out in a loud voice I won't wait for you That's a ruthless, unsentimental, and sorrowful reality" So maybe not a super happy pop song. : ) I'm thrilled I'll finally get to see them live in November when they play Los Angeles on their (very short) USA tour.

Technically they're hard rock, but they mix in elements of punk and thrash metal (their latest single, though, is pretty much jazz pop - they wanted to do something that harked back to their original sound). I have no idea what the doll and the blindfolded woman are about either, but it seems vaguely kinky.

Like them..Yes it's rock..Better voices than Baby Metal.. Band Maid = Rocken Girls in Maids uniforms..From a California view.. I'd buy their songs if they were available in the states .. Doesn't really matter what they are saying. It's the music that catches you.. And I took a bite..and the after taste is good..

Welcome to the world of J-Rock. Band-maid is a good place to start, they have plenty more videos on YT worth listening to. Another band you might like are Mutant Monster. Plenty of other good bands in Japan, range from various forms of metal, alt and post rock through to pop-rock and all manner of unusual music.
