@@Hadrian1616 Honestly, it was pretty rough. Atl to NYC on Wed, show on Thu. NYC to Dallas on Friday, show on Saturday. Dallas to LA on Sunday, shows on Mon & Tue. Fly back to Atl on Wed. I was exhausted and had caught a cold by the end of it. But, the hilarious thing is that Band-Maid's flight back to Tokyo was leaving from the gate directly across from my flight to Atl. I ran into Miku and Misa walking down the concourse, and I just stopped and stared with my mouth open like an idiot. Miku saw me and started laughing, and said, "Hello! Thanks-Po!" (She never drops character.) A little while later, I ran into Akane, Saiki, and Kanami, and at least had the presence of mind to actually say hello in a funny way. I had VIP tickets to the four shows I went to, so I did the meet-n-greet thing and was at the front of the stage, so they actually recognized me, which was funny and kind of gratifying. Also ran into their guitar tech and wished him a safe trip since I had talked to him several times after the shows; we bought him a beer after the Dallas show. He's a cool dude; gave a friend of mine one of Kanami's picks after the Dallas show, and gave me one of Miku's after the NYC show.

@@Hadrian1616 English, Spanish and Italian pigeons and doves say coo. Japanese pigeons and doves say Po. Kobato Miku has a 810 year old pigeon that takes up a little space in her head but that small pigeon has NEVER given her bad advice. And the two shows at the Echoplex in LA were far from cold. It was 75 and a light breeze. I saw our ladies being photographed at Echo Lake that afternoon before the show at the Echoplex. I will say this: they have to be seen live. MV and CD won't give you even half of what seeing them perform and interact with the audience. It really is intimate and strangely compelling. Miku does not talk at you or even to you. She talks with you. And at the Echoplex better than 90% of it was English.

And that's sad. They need management with connections. The smallest venues they should be playing now should be at least 5000 seats. I heard their entire US tour last year, small as it was, sold out in less than 2 hours. It's nice that they don't think they're too good for small venues but on the other hand I wonder if they really understand just how good they really are and how big they could be. World Domination is there for the taking. Watch how fast they sell out Budokan next year.

I live in Japan. I saw them years ago - playing at a small festival, they were incredible, tight, accomplished - just on a small stage, no one knew who they were or had heard of them. They are fairly unknown among their age group. If you want to check out one of the world's finest drummers, who is Japanese: Senri Kawaguchi - in her early twenties.

Enjoyed the choreographed head bopping. One thing I have picked up on is that Kanami is playing lead riffs on a lot of their songs. Also Band-Maid is much bigger in the US and Europe than Japan. Japan is the 2nd biggest market for Kpop along with Jpop. When they discovered the 3 millions views for Thrill on KZbin in 2014 (I think) they realized they had an audience and it was in the US and Europe. From that the Japanese fan base/market has grown. FYI they are signed with Live Nation and that, I hope, will get them into larger venues. But would you want them as your opening act if your a popular US band?

AFAIK, the only song they do that has more than a few words/phrases in English is "Don't Let Me Down". And they don't perform that one live when performing in the West - presumably because the lyrics (which they didn't write) are fairly... risque. But you guys should DEFINITELY react to the MV for it. Visually, it's one of their best.

Downright filthy in fact but I'm guessing that they're cool with it. I know that they performed it in Paris and Helsinki last year.

@@rickwagner- Apparently, I was misinformed. I had read (relatively recently) that they had only performed it live in Japan. Obviously, this was incorrect. I would suggest the guys look for a live version then to react to, but I still think that's a music video specifically worth watching.
@rickwagner-5 жыл бұрын
@Damon Brown The music video is a lot of fun. It's an early one, but still a great song. Actually kind of funny how many people don't realize all the lyrics are in English until that's pointed out. : ) At this point we could safely say that they haven't performed it at a headlining show in the USA.

Hey, the guy in the middle (forgot your name), don't be such a nationalist! People in Japan don't require Metallica or any other U.S. band to sing in Japanese to appreciate the music. IMHO, the Japanese doesn't detract but adds to the appeal of their songs. In their recent song "Reincarnation" they use some English words that don't quite come out the way they should, if you know what I mean. Lyrics that are sung in the native tongue of the artist are more natural and, thus, more powerful. Band-Maid in Japan ... destined for the Planet!

The band has an issue with language. Most Japanese don't understand English so recording in English is a huge negative for their huge for their home market. About 30% of overall fan base. Sub titles dont help as translations aren't always the best. Huge conundrum with language but if the Maids learn more English,it would help with audiences. Miku is still a great entertainer highlighted by her mid show Magic time performances.
