Where as I'm a recoil junky(which might also be her case). The heavier the recoil, the more I like it. I own a Springfield 1903, and the infamous M1 Garand. Both chambered in 30-06. Gawd I love this girl. ;)

Well if you know about Japan well enough, you wouldn't have almost fainted. Japan has some of the most strict gun laws in the world. And because of that they have the least amount of shootings per year as well. They don't have shooting ranges like you find in other parts of the world. It's is incredibly hard to own a gun or shoot one. You have to go through lots of intensive training and background checks. Then when you do have a gun you get monthly house checks to make sure you are following all the rules and laws. And they don't tell you when you are coming. They just come whenever they please. So most Japanese don't even think it's worth the effort to get a gun. A country that America should look up to, Americans say more strict gun laws will make it worse. But just look at Japan, it would be no different.

Japan was never a gun culture. The US started as a gun culture. If it weren't for guns in the US, there would be no US. And unless someone repeals the 2nd amendment, guns aren't going anywhere. Note that I'm not saying that something shouldn't be done about gun violence in the US, but that suggesting emulation of Japan is not the solution. Stricter gun laws--as implemented thus far in the US--have not helped to reduce gun crime, which makes perfect sense--people who abide the law are not committing gun crime like criminals are. Stricter gun laws only makes it harder for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves. To be serious about reducing gun crime, one would really have to go all out--banning guns. @@doomista2007 yeah I saw a story the other day about a guy living in the mountains there. He is a US national, ex-military and one of the only foreigners who can legally have firearms. He had to send them floor plans of his house showing exactly where the vault was. Then he pulled out stacks of notebooks full of forms, etc. he had to fill out and get stamped. It was organized so when they came for inspection, they could ask for something specific and he could go right to it and show them.

Firearms are actually all-but completely illegal for private ownership in Japan. Hunting rifles and shotguns are currently legal for people with permits, but new permits are not being issued. When people who currently own them with a permit pass away, the firearm has to be turned into the authorities.
