What constitutes a great band? Great songwriting, excellent musicianship, awesome singer,unbelievable live sound and incredible crowd interaction! Humble and cuteness doesn't hurt either! I absolutely agree. You have to go back to the classic rock bands of the 70’s to find groups that possess all the qualities, at a high level, that Band Maid does, and are also consistently great overall. It’s a short list of bands, IMO.

Favorite song. Yeah that's my favorite song, until I hear the next one, then that's my favorite, and then the next one is my favorite, rinse and repeat. I have an MP3 disk in my truck with my favorite 48 BAND-MAID SONGS! 48! FAVORITE! Songs. And I'm sure I'll be adding to it. Never in this old man's life have I had that many favorites of any band. I've run out of words to describe how good they are. I just listen, and smile....

I really have a soft spot for their single YOLO. Particularly the song YOLO. To me it's a masterpiece. But the other two songs are just as good and absolutely worth a listen. The single contains the songs: YOLO, Unfair Game, Matchless GUM and an instrumental version of YOLO.

Band Maiko songs are done with additional traditional instruments and the vocals are in a Kyoto dialect instead of standard Japanese which is hard to pick up on if you aren’t married to a Japanese lady. Rock on brother, you’re on the right track. There are few tickets left for the Atlanta show in May. See you there?

I tend to like the BAND-MAIKO versions better, which is astounding considering they're just Kanami taking the original recordings and playing with them in her DAW.

"Secret My/Maiko Lips" is up there for me as well. Love it (Akane's a badass). A bit of context for "Memorable". It was written as a "love letter" to the fans during and after their most recent U.S. tour in the fall of 2022. The were blown-away by the love, power, and energy (their words) they received from us Maidiacs. How cool is THAT?! Tugs REAL hard on these old heart strings, for sure. Thanks Jimmy! 🕊

Miku Kaboto, band founder, lyricist, Is well know for her lyrics, especially her use of twists in language. Japanese seems to lend itself to how she creates. Read that she would, at times, need to explain the lyrics to Saiki.

To talk about the lyricist. I read that she uses English words or sentences in them because she thinks that sometimes English words better describe what she wants to say in the song. At first I thought it was just a gimmick to make it sound cool. But I was wrong there. It's been a long time since I found a group like BM that is completely down to earth. Everything is genuine and for a reason. And best of it all; they seem to have fun togheter.

Congratulations Jimmy, on being the first one that I can recall, after viewing Band-Maid reactions for the last seven years, for getting the two versions switched around. Don't worry, it was bound to happen sooner or later to someone new to the band. No shame there. When Band-Maid pulled off their elaborate April Fool's joke, many were taken in by the charade at first, myself included. It's good to be able to laugh at oneself at times. This song is easily in my top two next to Puzzle. And it's one of the first songs I play for someone I introduce to Band-Maid. It encompasses all that are the Maids. The arrangement, composition, dynamics, tempos, transitions, vocals, genre jumping; everything. Every member brings it to the table. It is quintessential Band-Maid and I love it. The Just Bring It album itself is my favorite of all time because it so raw. They were now finding their sound, and they definitely went heavy real quick. Some amazing classics came off of that album. Follow that up with World Domination and you have two of the greatest rock albums ever written. ぽ

Are they primarily BAND-MAID songs redone? Since there are only two videos, 'Secret Maiko Lips' and 'Gion-Cho'. That's 50/50. Of the seven songs on the BAND-MAIKO album. Obviously 'Secret My Lips' and 'Yolo' are BAND-MAID songs, 'as well as Screaming' And it it appears that 'Akasimahen' is the BAND-MAIKO version of 'Akward. That makes four of seven so I guess technically that's primarily. "Tora Tora I think is strictly BAND-MAIKO. Anyone know about the other two?

Only Gion-Cho is an original Band Maiko song- Secret My Lips (Secret Maiko Lips), Screaming (すくりーみんぐ), Anemone (Ansan), Awkward (Akasimahen), Yolo (Yolosiosu) and One and Only (Tora Tora) are all Band Maid

As you did, I heard SECRET MAIKO LIPS first, and loved it. (The production design of the video is exquisite, too.) But SECRET MY LIPS rocks even harder. And it sounds like no Hard Rock song I've heard before. I won't give you any advise on which video to watch next. No matter which one you pick, I expect you will wrap up each reaction with the comment, "That's my favorite BAND-MAID song."

@@jimmysrandom They really transform certain songs in their acoustic sets to the point people don't realize it's the same song. I think their best acoustic is Forward. It's not on their official page but a quick YT search will bring it up.
