Band-Maid are a second tier girls band in Japan. Only the drummer and bassist are trained pros The lead singer is all right but really is a pop singer. The lead guitarist is passably average. The other girl is a fake guitarist who can't really play and for the longest time could not play at all. And she can't sing. Bland-Maid are merely OK but their Western male fans are cringey weeaboos.

@@user-ev7wu6zh4x 女性じゃなくて男性ドラマーです。言葉足らずで申し訳ございません。70 80年代のハードロックバンドのライヴはクリック無しが当たり前でしたからグルーヴ重視でリズムが走ろうタメようがカッコ良ければそれが良い！的な感じだったと思います。彼女達はライヴで同期音源を使うのでクリックは必須です。それなのにタメやツッコミを効果的に入れてくるAKANEのプレイは私のような年寄りの琴線に触れるのではないかと思っております。

随分前からそれが決まり文句かのように言われているし今でも「日本で本当に良い音楽が評価される時代は終わった」等と通ぶった言葉に浸っている人達もいるけど、勝手に殺さないでくれ終わらせないでくれって感じだよね。BAND-MAIDに関しても色々な事を言う人がいるだろうけど、自分は素直に楽しめるタイプで本当に良かったと思うよ。自分は数年前から音楽全般に関心を失ってしまって音楽を聴いてもつまらないと思っていたのにネットでこのバンドの存在を知って聴いてみたら速攻でドはまりしたという事実だけでも最高のバンドだし、フィクションの世界から飛び出してきたとしか思えないこのバンドの存在は音楽を楽しむという事を思い出させてくれた素敵な存在。

@@Kazuya1008 確かに自分も邦楽洋楽ロック聴き続けてきた中年だけど、ここ十数年無条件で曲にノッてしまうことがなかった。マツコデラックスの番組でガールズバンドの特集をやった後に、何の気無しに見た出演バンド全てをYou Tubeで見てBAND-MAIDだけに触手が動きました。初めてストレイキャッツやブランキージェットシティを聴いた時以上の衝撃と、自分の中のロックが死んでいなかったんだと感じました。中年だろうが後期高齢者だろうがいいものはいい。KANAMIの作る曲は自分の年齢を忘れさせてくれます。彼女達がいつまでBAND-MAIDとして活動してくれるか分かりませんが、名称やスタイルが変わっても、この5人の音楽をずっと聴いていけたらそれだけで幸せだなと思う今日この頃です。

Without Kanami, there is no music. I agree pretty much with what you have all said....and I am probably biased. They form a fantastic collective.....Miku somehow rounding up (including herself) a band with stunning skill sets. In some ways Kanami is overshadowed while playing, keeping her modest solos for the song rather than herself, while Saki rules the stage and Akane and MISA rule the rhythm section.....and Miku is.....well Miku...PO! But musically Kanami towers over even her fellow group members.....her output is prodigious and brilliant, as are her arranging skills.....and yes I know the band are all involved in that.....but in interviews (and the recent concert video) they all acknowledge that Kanami is the music maestro....or Sensai, who rules the practice sessions....and is constantly stretching herself and the rest of the band with her composition skills.

You know...I hadn't bought a cd of anyone for YEARS. It just wasn't worth the price for 2 or 3 songs...or maybe half the album was good , the rest not so much,. To add to your point about helping support them, those who can fit it in their budget can join the official fan club for 500 yen per month. Obviously the currency exchange fluctuates and as I live in the US my experience might not hold true for people in other countries. Hey Donald. I'm an old dude. Love music from multiple genre's. But this band, oh this band has captured me like no other, EVER!. You never quite know what direction any of their songs will take but every one of them ends up with the same result, perfection. Obsessed? Me too. In my younger days, it was ELO (Jeff Lynne) that gave me a similar feeling. But Band-Maid takes song craft to another level. After two years of listening to them almost constantly I still get goose bumps. How can they be this good?? I could go on and on, but that usually ends TLDR. I'll save the rest for my book "Days of Maid". Ha!

The best decision this label ever made was to back off and let them write their own songs. The moment they did that, these girls blew up. They're true musicians. 本日届いた”Official Score for Unseen World”に付いているInstrumental VersionのCDを聴いて、特に、Bメロからサビにかけて、ヴォーカルの裏でまったく気づいていなかったリフが弾かれていたことに驚きました。このInstrumental Versionは全く別の曲のような印象を受け、これだけでも聴く価値があるとともに、この演奏に負けずに歌メロを強く印象付けるSAIKIさんにも感心します。

Usually B-M are better live but some tracks are just better on MV because the MVs are just fantastic. Warning, Don't Let Me Down, Afterlife, Blooming, Thrill to name a few.
