This is masterpiece 🔥❤️ For me..Kanami Tōno, lead guitar and composer, is the most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Pure genius as a composer and true Rock n’ Roll Star on stage. She is The Special One 🔥❤️ Lovin them all of course. Greatest band of our time 🔥❤️ Greets from Finland 🇫🇮🤘

Totally agree. Kanami is a musical genius ... But the great thing is that MISA and Akane are probably better technical musicians (ie. If you were just listening to how they play their instruments, you would probably say that both MISA and Akane are more standout players in regards to what you usually set from Base and Drums, but in terms of writing music, she's on a Mozart level.
@ranger_a6953Ай бұрын
@@RetiredInThailand Love Misa and Akane. I think that Kanami writes a lot of the drum parts, I remember reading that one of the Black Hole (?) drum versions she wrote was too fast for Kanami at the time, so she had three choices of various difficulties.

Agree that her compositional skills are off the charts. Her guitar playing is great, not because of her technical abilities... which are impressive, though not top tier worldwide... but because she pushes herself while playing. Many really technical guitarists don't push themselves, and as a result, the playing can feel a little ho-hum. When Kanami plays, she's going for it every time. This song is a great example. Take a look at the live videos of this, which are all fan cams... she screws From Now On up almost every time, just a little here or there. This is a guitar acrobat flying above us without a net below, and it's thrilling. Kanami is much more Gary Moore than Joe Satriani in terms of pushing while playing (even if the tones are somewhere in between). This is why we watch live music... not to hear a verbatim repetition of something we can hear on an album that's easy for the musician's to play.... what's the point of that (see "Pretzel Logic" by Steely Dan)? Whereas if they're out there, pushing at high energy, about to crash constantly... that's a Thrill!

Many of us saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. The DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wrapped up at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26 and at Hong Kong. AND they dropped their new album, Epic Narratives, Sept. 25. Order now! The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, Sohum!

The band uses instrumentals, typically paired with a song from Miku to give Saiki a break during their shows. They take special care of her vocal health after surgery for vocal polyps several years ago.

From Japan BAND-MAID's instrumental song started out as a way to give Saiki a rest, but Saiki is proud of the four members and suggested that this song be the opening song for the concert at a large festival in the US. This song captivated the audience who didn't know BAND-MAID. And the latest album released in September ends with an instrumental hard rock song that declares that they are a hard rock band.
@TlanImassАй бұрын
They have 7 official Instrumentals, 1 from a commercial (super rare) and another from a game tie-in. They also have Instrumental releases of some of their tracks as bonuses and a whole Instrumental Score album. I think the Instrumentals are not something they consciously designed but organically came about because Saiki needed rest mid-concert. (She had vocal surgery back in 2017.) Now, it’s a staple.
@mikeholmes5308Ай бұрын
They have something like 7 instrumentals out of about 140 songs? It's what you said... they don't follow a formula, they compose whatever they want. There are versions of their songs where it's just two of them, or three for acoustic takes. But it gets a LOT deeper than that... there are mysteries you have yet to even hear about...

Oh, did we not mention that Kanami (lead guitar/composer) is also a trained pianist? They have 5 instrumental songs now. You should checkout their song "Play" live. It was originally crafted to be instrumental, but Saiki (lead singer) loved it so much she convinced Miku (rhythm guitar/backing vocals) to work with her to add lyrics so she could sing on it. So, Kanami went back to work to write a replacement Instrumental called "Onset". You may want to checkout both those songs live.

You don't think after listening to that instrumental that they only have one and you just happened upon it? Nope ... They definitely do more of those. Plus a more more. Band-Maid is the real deal, true samurai in the world of music. There are many facets of music, business, entertainment, audience connection, fan connection, being genuinely wonderful people ... Band-Maid dudes or all. I've known about them since 2015 (had lucked into BABYMETAL in 2014 so was on the lookout for other Japanese bands) and they continue to surprise and blow away with every single. I'm always so afraid with every new release that they will disappoint me ... Never happened, and I suspect it never will. Kanami is my hero. They are all incredible, but Kanami does most of the music writing and arrangements ... To my ears and writes music as though she's writing for an orchestra, then using technique and an amazing array of peddles, somehow makes the arrangement sound as though they were being played by string, horn, wind, percussion, sections

Great reaction and they do have a number of instrumentals. The singer Saiki (sight - key) is the one who wanted this instrumental to be the opening song on their EP "Unleash". Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid, best rock band in 30 years. They have a song, Giovanni, on their album with the singer, but they also have a version of this song without the singer, it's an eye opener to what the guitars are doing. I'm sure that someone will provide links for both.

Saiki (lead singer) is the one who placed this song as the first song in their EP, Unleash. She also asked Kanami (lead guitar/composer) to compose an instrumental song to place it as the last song in their new album, Epic Narratives. These are full length instrumental songs: "Without Holding Back" is a fun jam session style song. "From Now On" is a song for a serious contest. "On Set" is a showcase of each instrumentalist. "Get To The Top" is a bright bouncy song. "Don't Be Long" is a lesson song for Miku (rhythm guitar/lyricist/band founder).

The instrumentals actually aren’t that big of a departure, and more of a hint. A lot of bands will lean on their vocalist to elevate the music, but Band-Maid kind of uses Saiki to deescalate the music. i.e. She keeps it catchy and poppy enough that the casual listeners don’t notice that they’re playing like this all the time, and are really a prog band. e.g. Listen to Secret My Lips focused on Saiki, and then listen to it focused on Kanami. This is even more apparent when you listen to their instrumental versions of songs that normally have vocals, like Giovanni. It’s like a completely different song.

Saiki the lead singer has had throat surgery in the past so the band are very careful with her voice. They play 2+ hour sets so to give Saiki a break around mid-set they do three things. 1. Play an instrumental, 2. Miku (rhythm guitar) takes lead vocals for a song or two (she usually has one track per album where she is lead vocalist) and 3. Miku will do her legendary and hilarious "Magic Time" MC set. Then Saiki comes back on to finish the set. Even though Saiki no longer needs a break nowadays, it's become more of a tradition. So yeah, they have a number of really cool instrumental tracks. Check out the live MV of "Onset" for another instrumental banger!
