I was really so excited and happy to record this vid, and as always they just NEVER disappoint. Please consider to buy this album/dvd to support them, they really deserve it ! Also I didn't talked much about the genius of KANAMI, this song writing was just mind-blowing and her solo were so enjoyable/catchy as always, she is so special ! In any case I spent more time to edit the video this time, I really want this channel to become a music appreciation place and not just a "basic" reaction channel where I say " wow, amazing, see you soon" and without any editing. I have so many ideas for this channel on top of reaction directly related to our favorite bands. If we grow it together enough I would be able to challenge concept that are very rare on KZbin, so please consider to subscribe and let's keep in touch ! Thanks a lot to all of you, BAND MAID and you guys are really worth the time I spend to do edit and try to improve each videos :) Please let me know any point you wish me to change or implement, and of course looking forward to hear about new Japanese bands to react to !

From JAPAN ■ Introducing BAND MAID and the latest news. (^^♪ ★ They have over 100 fascinating songs. ■ Thank you for Reaction BAND MAID. BAND MAID is a 5-member girls rock band. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing cool songs with a maid costume. That's why the band was named Band-Maid. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, played 2 million times in two weeks and saved them from breaking up. At that time they were just around 19-22 years old. And then they have been doing LIVE overseas and increasing their fans. Now they are writing, composing and arranging all the songs. 35 songs have been released on their official KZbin, all of which are killer songs. ★ The new song "Different" released in December last year has become the theme song for the anime "Log Horizon 3rd Season". ★ They released a new album 14 songs "Unseen World" in January 20 . ★ They released their latest music video "about Us" on February 19th. ★ On May 26th, they will release a DVD / Blu-ray of remastered online live 28 songs on February 11th + 5 other live songs. This is by far my favorite instrumental from them! I like Onset but i feel this one flows so much better musically and is heavier which i like. Miku does a lot and is the heart and soul of the band! She does an amazing job on stage AND outside the stage. When Covid slows down and they can tour abroad again Band Maid will explode in popularity, i love the direction they took in this new album. Thanks for checking them out! Stay safe!

dude... that's a very nice introduction to your new channel. "Band-Maid" is my fav. band, and it's been this way since 2014 (since "Thrill" MV, but the "Real Existence" MV made me stay). So, yeah, I don't know... you probably binged trough most of their stuff already. So I don't know which ones to recommend... In the end there are A LOT fan-cams or behind the scenes stuff for Band-Maid worth seeing. "Without holding back" was performed first a couple of years ago. It was written shortly (~ months apart) after "Onset". It was performed live a couple of times, but only in Japan. As filming is not permitted in japan - and japanese are used to it and DON'T do it - we never had a recording available (there was one, with horrible audio/video), but we knew it existed. In their oversea shows Band-Maid played "Onset". But on the US-tour they debuted and played the new instrumental "Don't be long" for all 5 shows they did. Shortly after the release of "Different" MV, Kanami and Miku said in the interview, that it was written as a practice piece for Miku specifically, to get her ready for "Different" (and "Unseen World" as the extension) - so they used the US-tour also for that :D "Without holding back" finally got an official release as part of the Special Edition "Unseen World"... Sadly, no version of UW is "perfect", all of them include something others don't, but also miss something else instead... Herman Li (from Dragonforce) had Miku and Kanami on his stream some weeks ago. They played "Without holding back" afterwards, with Herman improvising his parts. You can watch the jam session part on Dragonforce yt-channel. But the whole interview was just GREAT "Go Nuts" is still not officially released, but it's likely it will be released in a more "polished" form some time in the future (like "Don't be long" - the US-tour 2019 and the version on "Different"-CD are ... different) But enough about Band-Maid (for now), you asked for other recommendations. I looked a little on your channel. "Lovebites" and "Band-Maid" as your videos so far. And the playlists give some clues. Babymetal, LiSA, Mondo Grosso... Berserk and "Shenmue" OST - NICE, dude! hahaha hmmm... I don't know. The - imo (!!! please don't kill me...) - most influential bands in recent times (like 15-20 years, maybe) in japan "Maximum The Hormone" - defined a complete generation. Nao (the drummer) is probably the most influential female in japanese rock "Scandal" - *THE* all-female band. The one that started it all. Maybe not the very first one, but the first reeeeally successful one. Very pop-punkish, but catchy af "Destrose" - the unsuccessful "Scandal" in heavy-metal. The band itself was not successful. BUT the musicians and their project after "Destrose" was done... you know "Lovebites" already. "Mary's Blood" and "Nemophila" with Saki. And there are a couple more... In contrast to "Scandal" and "Band-Maid" they changed their members pretty frequently (thats not a good sign for a band ;) - just look at the huge former band-member list... The amount of women in j-rock and j-metal is just :D the amount of all-female bands could be due to the huge success of "K-On!" (anime, really good one) and "Scandal" maybe a couple (unusual) ones: TRiDENT - Continue (yeah, pretty known because of their former drummer Junna) kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6u0h4megrqta5o Polkadot Stingray - TELECASTER STRIPES (be careful on that one; they block videos; it's "Warner" japan, afair) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZLHZYGpet5kqsk Brats - Kimarigoto (Rei from "Ladybaby", pretty good, struggling to be successful) kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWSrqYaPrr2bpLM Everything Fuki is doing, as well as associated bands - "Unlucky Morpheus", "Garhaic Spin", "Galneryus" etc etc oh, and "BiSH" of course, as well as their solo stuff (Mondo Grosso x Aina the End :D) Frederic - "oddloop" (this is more "indie hipster", but damn catchy; listen once - and you will be responsble for like +100 views on that already absurdly high view counter yourself) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnTTY5yOdpaogqc other hipster-style catchy af band would be "Necry Talkie" ie I would also like to point to two japanese Pop-Singers, if you don't know them already: Meiko Kaji - her songs and movies. If you've seen "Kill Bill" you've heard some of her. The movies, her OST-songs ... it's "Enka" mixed with 70s pop. (Miku was into "Enka" since childhood and you could argue Saikis singing style is influences as well) Ayumi Hamasaki - one of the most influential j-pop artists in "recent" times (say, 2000 - now). She is the one Saiki and Miku were talking about in the "After Life" making-.of video (more like mentioned, because Miku wrote "Ayu" on the board - you know she is "important" if that's all it takes to recognize her for both of them XD) (no, I'm not asking for "reaction" videos to them; just check their work out for yourself - with your channel name etc. I think you might find it interesting)

I promise you that I am taking serious notes on all that and some names will pop out soon enough on the channel for sure ! My family situation doesn't allow me to do more that 2 vid a week, and actually at the moment 1 video a week is basically my max if I want to keep to quality on editing (And not just simply record in one take like my 2 first videos) In any case I am having lot of fun and interest to carry on improving and keeping this channel active, and comment like yours are the fuel I need to my drive, so thanks again ! @@Yotanou > What an awesome comment man, thanks a lot for your recommendations and words. I promise you that I am taking serious notes on all that and some names will pop out soon enough on the channel for sure ! thanks for reading :) I have a tendency to write longer comments than initially intended - nobody likes to read them (tldr), this is the youtube comment section XD to be honest - the Berserk and Shenmue OST in your playlists kinda encouraged me for a longer one... With all the j-rock and metal talk... these are *chefs kiss* And you have no idea how much Shenmue 1/2 (well, not the 3rd one XD) played in my life - learned to properly program and 3D graphics because of that hahahaha Berserk, the Golden Arc, is something, everybody should experience imo. I'm not into fantasy at all - but this one blew my mind Back on topic: don't worry, I'm sure that some of the bands I mentioned are going to be covered. These aren't exactly unknown underdogs of japan. I haven't mentioned a couple of the BIG ones (X-Japan, One Ok Rock, King Gnu, ...) - you WILL get them recommended to you sooner or later, 100% Of the bands I provided links to... - NONE of them is *metal*. I'm not a metalhead, have a sweet spot for "too much metal". Band-Maids "Rinne" is close to that line. "Nemophila" is pretty much on the line - I like them a lot, but it's basically as much as I'm going to accept XD "Asterism" slips beyond that line - BUT it's an instrumental only band, no vocals at all - LOVE it. Not into power-metal at all - so I'm not praising bands like "Dragonforce" or "Lovebites". Don't have anything against them (I see the talent) - just not for me. Would never sh*t on these bands either in comments/forums. Highly appreciate Herman Li since he started streaming (his DMCA case on twitch and their "Write a --- song in 10 minutes" are hilarious) - you don't have to be a fan of his music, to be a fan of him as person The links above are bands in the more punk, funk, jazz, pop-rock genres. Most will recommend "heavier" bands on "Band-Maid" reactions (-> more the metal side), I'm trying the opposite. Band-Maid is very ... broad ... with the styles in their music. I doubt you will actually get a lot of views for reacting to any of them... So, pace it out XD > My family situation doesn't allow me to do more that 2 vid a week, and actually at the moment 1 video a week is basically my max if I want to keep to quality on editing (And not just simply record in one take like my 2 first videos) You're french, but live in japan. Excuse me for asking (and don't answer if you don't want to) Work related? Is your family with you in Japan? Is it for a longer time? You do speak (at least a little) japanese in the end of the video... it's all fine - your channel, your pace. I wouldn't even start a yt channel - I'm just too busy irl with work and such ;) > In any case I am having lot of fun and interest to carry on improving and keeping this channel active, and comment like yours are the fuel I need to my drive, so thanks again ! @@Yotanou I wouldn't call it really different. But in the normal version the mix is a bit questionable in my opinion. Hiding a lot of the instrumental touches and skills. Some of them I only noticed after listening to the instrumental, thats how far in the background they are mixed in the vocal version. Definitely give it a try, most people I talked to prefer the instrumental as well. It is easily on par with "Onset" and "without holding back" as far as instrumentals go.

I would agree. The instrumental versions of all the songs that were not written as "instrumentals" are worth checking out. You will miss the Saiki/Miku vocals obviously - a *huge* part in their songs, it's like missing 1-2 complete layers. But it shows the "touches" in the music way more clearly, like Equilibrium2903 said. It also shows how much the vocal melody actually changes their songs (how the f is Miku even writing lyrics XD; that Kanami gives, and that the vocals change in the flow is really cool to see) but, hey, these are not officially released on their channel - you know that it might mean to your youtube channel... (but these videos are worth checking out for sure, whether you'll put them on your channel or not)

Thanks for this very good video! I totally agree with all points you've said. Above all, and thanks for this mention, Miku has really become an irreplaceable pillar in the whole construct of Band-Maid over the years. What this little pigeon does is really worth all the honour and can not be respected enough. 🕊️ 'Onset' is still special because of the video and the energy of the live feeling, but for me on the first place of their instrumentals ranks this song here and is followed by 'Don't be long'. :) 【 'Our rock never dies, ever. The Japanese ladies are really leading the way with rock/ metal music today! Another band I’ve recently found is HAGANE. They describe themselves as “a harmonic metal band with high tone vocals and powerful music harmony”. They definitely have a “prog” element to their sound and are well worth checking out. Thanks for your great reactions 👍🤘kzbin.info/www/bejne/anOye56Nf5yqaZY

Man you're so right for her to not just to learn how to play guitar they're going from nothing to knowing you got to play good enough to be in a band. would be stressful. Put going from nothing to trying to learn how to play guitar in a band that plays at this level I can't even imagine how undaunting that had to be

Welcome to the wonderful world of Japanese rock / metal. I see you are already familiar with Lovbites and Band-Maid, two fantastic bands in their genre. And there are more. Just want to mention a few other of my favorites. Trident, Wagakki Band, Babymetal, Unlucky Morphius, DollSbox, Ado, Aldios. All worth listening to. If you are interested in Japanese culture, take a walk down Wagakki Street. It is a mix of Japanese traditional instruments and modern instruments that play good rock. Very pleasant sound.

I would like to recommend a Japanese band "Tokyo Jihen" (東京事変 or Incidents Tokyo) and the founder Sheena Ringo (椎名林檎). Sheena Ringo made her debut in 1998 and has been one of the most popular female musicians in Japan since then for more than 20 years. She founded Tokyo Jihen in 2003. They have been a big influence on young musicians in Japan. One of them is Miku from Band-Maid. Miku knew them in her high school student and got into them. That was why she founded Band-Maid as a "cool band".

Their music cover so many variety of genres including rock, punk, alternative, jazz, Bossa Nova, and so on. I pick up some: 東京事変 - 「歌舞伎〜OSCA」 from Spa & Treatment Tokyo Jihen - "Kabuki - OSCA" from Spa & Treatment two songs from a live performance at a live tour "Spa & Treatment" in 2007. The first song "Kabuki" was made for introduction on the band members. I guess Miku watched their live performance for the first time in this concert tour. 東京事変 - 「電波通信」 from ウルトラC Tokyo Jihen - "Denpa Tsushin" from Ultra-C live performance in 2010, rock 東京事変 - 「女の子は誰でも」 from Discovery Tokyo Jihen - "Onnanoko-ha Dare-demo" from Discovery live performance in 2011, swing jazz 東京事変 - 選ばれざる国民 from ニュースフラッシュ Tokyo Jihen - Erabare-zaru Kokumin from newsflash live performance at their latest on-line concert this year, prog rock The English title is "The Lower Classes". [자막] 도쿄지헨 - 모 도민~BB.QUEEN(東京事変 - 某都民~BB.QUEEN) two songs, "Bo-Tomin(某都民)" and "BB.QUEEN" performed at a concert "SOCIETY OF THE CITIZENS" in 2008. Not official video, recently uploaded by Korean fan with Korean subtitle.

Dude, there are so many great Japanese bands, if you are interested in female bands, then you can give a look to: Mary's Blood (power metal), Nemophila (alternative metal), Aldious (power metal), Gacharic Spin/Doll$Boxx (alternative rock), Hagane (heavy metal), Fate Gear (power metal), Trident (alternative metal) Show-Ya (hard rock). About the overall bands, among my favorites you can check out: Anthem (heavy metal), Onmyouza (heavy metal), Galneryus (power metal), Versailles (power metal), Ningen Isu (heavy metal), The Back Horn (alternative rock), Unlucky Morpheus (alternative metal), The Wagakki Band (alternative metal), Sokoninaru (math rock), Coldrain (alternative metal)..

I bet Miku could never of dreamt she'd be playing rhythm guitar in such a talented band..Singing was her dream...but playing rhythm guitar?.....Shows how much she wants the band to succeed to become backing vocals as such and to learn the guitar well enough to compliment the other members... Other bands take note..put your ego's aside..and play for the fun and for the fans..not for your ego.
