Lykke Li is also extremely close to the Danish word "lykkelig", which means a combination of "happy" and "fortunate". Although she's from Sweden, where the word is spelled "lycklig", one might think she borrowed the word from her "neighbors" to the southwest. "Why not Lykke Lig, then?" Well, "lig" means "corpse" in Danish, and in Swedish it's "lik".

Renard Dubois Lykke isn't Swedish spelling, it is Danish (but not an uncommon name for Swedish girls). Swedish spelling with the same pronunciation is "Lycke" . The actual Swedish spelling of the word luck is "lycka", it is pronounced the same as in Danish (lykke) in most Swedish dialects, but once upon a time, the Swedish king Gustav Vasa despised everything Danish and his spelling mostly apply in Swedish to this day. We have the weird habit of keeping a lot of forreign spelling in Swedish, like in the Danish name Lykke. As a bonus, most of us are quite good at identifying the language of a word by spelling, and apply the (almost) right pronounciation.

Dir en Grey anyone? The origin of the name likely comes from three different words from three different languages (German, French, English). The technical pronunciation would be “deer-an-grey”. Dir en Grey is from Japan and due to how the Japanese pronounce English letters, a second acceptable pronunciation would be “deer-u-an-gu-ray”. But a lot of people have mistakenly called them “durr en grey” (myself included).

it was meant to be an inverted A they were originally called PARIS but had to change their name for legal reasons so Lynn decided to use a V instead of the A
Never realized what Sigur Rós meant, but it makes total sense (it's roughly the same in Swedish). It's the flower that you give to the winner after a race or contest.

Since Afrikaans sounds like a Dutch accent to me (which is right since it mostly originated from the Dutch language). Since 'antwoord' is a Dutch word just like 'die' for me its just like pronouncing it with an accent lol. Even the word 'Afrikaans' is Dutch, just like Germaans (Germanic) for example

Sigur Ros and Sunn O))) are actually really good bands. I also like Die Andwoord but more because of the visual style then the actual music.

lykke li ... is like ... combing the pronunciation of look+leak ... then there's an ever brief pause right into what sounds like 'yuh' ... then lee. and scandinavia often implements incentives into using scandinavian names/words for businesses etc. in this case, im guessing it was maybe a mix a starting small/local and growing worldwide as well as maybe a bit of $upport from their culture fund for having the name.

Houston tx scream o band, Myka, Relocate... It isn't hard to pronounce but where they got it from interesting. It comes from them playing call of duty online... In the game you can command the sniper to relocate to another spot. When you do it says "sniper relocate" but sounds like its saying Myka, relocate.
