Ah, the second half of yesterday’s outing! Brilliant! Some great matches, who could fail to want to join in marching along, especially to the last one which is more familiar than many. I enjoy when the camera gets close to the individual instruments, it’s like getting to examine a component part of a lovely jigsaw😎 Thank you.

A few questions : why is the Irish Guards DM still leading all this time "...? Why do some " Bobbi's " wear the tadeonal Cap and other more military style , is that a personal choice? and does it seem like a heavier police presence lately ?

The Senior Drum Major chooses who goes with which band (if a guards battalion is the new guard, the battalion drum major will lead the band). If it’s an incremental ceremonial company (Nijmegen, no.7 company, f company) then the Senior drum major or Assistant Senior DMaj will lead the band.

@vickyRoyalHistoryHello Vicky! Tiny correction from an otherwise spot on comment! The Household Cavalry Band is led by the (BCM) Band Corporal Major (not their Bandmasters), BCM is the Household Cavalrys equivalent to a DM. Some extra info, which I think you might already know!. The Band Corporal Majors equivalent to a DMs staff is his riding crop! This is only used during Winter Order, as in Summer Order he has to hold his sword in his left hand. This is because he carries his sword "Cavalry Style" meaning, it is not directly attached to his White leather Buff belt, and hangs loosely from the straps. Otherwise it would drag and scrape across the pavement. A Big No No!
