the only problem you can get from wearing band patches it's to get involved in a discussion about where you may have seen the band, why you like the bands or in the worst case arguing about the band it self, but it's always friendly and around a beer.

A club I was in told one of the regions to remove a 10"? roundel that they had put on there cut. All the patches that the club sold were MC approved and 4" . I told one guy that some of his members were riding with a bottom rocker that said England. The guy nearly fell through the floor. The problem he had were the members were spread all over the area and when they had a meet these guys wouldn't were that cut. My cut has 4/5" patches on the back my leather jacket has the punisher skull on the back.

I would like to add that it is not JUST three piece patches that you need to be aware of. ANY patch that symbolizes a group of riders needs to be approved by the local dominant, even one piece patches. In my state (I live in the US), the dominant 1% club is a single piece patch. It doesn't have to be three pieces to catch hell. It's really about the purpose of the patch. Does is represent a GROUP, or is it clearly an individual expression sort of thing. In another state, when I was in my late teens/early 20s, some of us spray painted our group's name on our vests. We meant no offense, but we didn't really know any better at the time. We were confronted by the local 1% club, which is one of the big 4 here in the states, a three piece. They realized we were young and didn't know any better, and we showed them respect by listening. They kind of took us as just kids having fun, but gave us the run down, the "rules of the road" so to speak. Some of my friends went on to join their support club later, and then patched as one of them even further down the road. Keep in mind, that was how this club CHOSE to handle it. Others might not be so understanding. Three pieces are the most common and the most needed to avoid, but ANY patch that symbolizes a GROUP of riders needs to be approved to avoid confrontation with the dominant. Bottom line, if you're unsure about a patch you want to wear as an individual, ask someone who knows the game. If you and your friends want to wear the same patch, regardless of pieces, get the okay from the local dominant first.

But I couldn't bring myself to wear them because I was not in the army. But then after I joined the army and went airborne I bought the shirt. I wore it like once and never again. I just felt no need to wear the shirt and just thought it was silly. But the army cook shirt was cool, "Death From Within" and crossed fork and spoon.

Came across your vids by accident Dibber. I'm a member of a Military MC. Our patches and regalia had to be approved by the UMC, universal motorcycle club council, who 'requested' a small change. A skull was replaced with the Federal Star from the Aussie flag. 1%ers welcome us in colours where they don't wear theirs. The respect I get from some pretty hard lads at my local for putting my hand up is pretty cool. A big up to the UK MMCs and all Sappers. Ubique

I think the biggest reason i respect and bikers and have become one my self is the massive amount of respect they give to our vets. As well as the fact that our vets played a major roll in creating the "code" that most bikers and MC's live by. The reason the patches mean so much is because they are considered a clubs version of military medals and honors. They have to be earned the same way, with actions and show of commitment. Same with rank. I never served myself due to my knees being shot. But I was born on November 11. I feel its my responsibility to make sure no one ever forgets what those men and women did for us. I am very proud of my countries military history. (Canada) I am also very proud of our link to the UK and their military as well. (considering for most of Canada's existence we were a part of the UK military lol) My Grandfather died fighting in Vietnam with the french air force in 59. So that also has a lot to do with it as well. anyways great vids.

I agree to some degree. HOWEVER. Any true biker or Mc memeber knows damn well what a 3 piece looks like. Black Label Society at a quick glance may deceive someone. However there’s no territory on the bottom rocker, there’s no Mc cube. Anyone that chooses to give them trouble is a asshole! I have seen the BLS cuts and I don’t mind them one bit.
@DibberInTheWind
@DibberInTheWind 6 жыл бұрын
Firstly on this side of the world we do things differently, we don't take kindly to wannabe fuck-wits wandering round in what look like 3 piece back-patch MC sets. As for the insinuation of no MC cube or territory bottom rocker somehow making or presuming it's ok, you are wrong on that as there is no universal rule that says all MC's fly an MC cube and/or location bottom rocker, that's some made up bullshit spouted by people that don't know what the fuck they're talking about as there are many notorious 1% MC's out there that fly neither a location bottom rocker or an MC cube as it's part of the centre patch. BLS patch set violates a very old and respected British MC's colours, on that score those patches are outlawed by all the MC's in the UK and now a lot of Europe too. Are you saying that the MC in question that has been around for almost half a century, and the British Coalition of MC's, doesn't have a right to protect what's theirs (trademark, copyrights, likeness rights, historical likeness rights etc), we see that shit on this side of the globe we take it - no ifs no buts - and BLS management and Zakk know it, all i'll say on that matter is Manchester 2005.

I think our patch rules are possibly the toughest i've seen or know of, and i've been to a lot of different countries over the years, we also have the still tender legacy of a very deadly, bloody, and brutal patch war which raged during the 70's and 80's which is still in living memory for a lot of us older guys, my patch went on in 1982. DibberInTheWind that’s crazy. I can’t image what it must have been like back then. I know I still have a lot to learn but I also just don’t feel like I would ever want to pick on someone for being a fan of a show or liking a band and wearing their merch. I know the difference. But that’s just me. I know some others wouldn’t be so reserved.

It was even a bit wild for those of us that weren't in one of the big MC's, we were busy kicking 9 yards of crap out of each-other for our own reasons, i have a reminder of those days in the shape of a lump above my right eye that swells up from time to time, that was from a hammer, lost a couple teeth as a result of a cricket bat around the chops, and back in those days it wasn't illegal to pack a bladed object either and hand guns hadden't yet been made illegal to own. I like our system to be honest, we don't have any secondary organization like the AMA sanctioning clubs, sanction comes from one place and one place only, from the DOM 1% MC in that particular geographical location, no sanction = NO PATCH, no second organization to go running too. I belong to the Watain Disciples, the fan club for the black metal band Watain. The band wears 3 piece cuts very similar to a club, and the Disciples wear similar cuts, with a different back patch. The band wears a top rocker ("WATAIN") and a bottom rocker ("Black Metal Militia"). Disciples can use the same rockers, or have the top rocker say "Black Metal Militia" while the bottom has their territory, "US Division," "Canadian Legion," etc... I chose to use the same rockers as the band, without territory, because there are a couple different 1% clubs in my area, I didn't wanna have anyone think I'm part of a new MC moving into town.. I should point out, unlike BLS cuts, Disciples must earn some of the patches by bringing certain tributes to the band when they tour.

It doesn't matter if you're in the UK or not, copying the layout of a 3 piece MC patch set and slapping it on your back in any country where there are MC clubs isn't smart, and you have a very big MC on your doorstep if you're in Las Vegas or anywhere near it.

How come Motorhead back patches are ok when they are set out as a 3 piece? Is it because it's Motorhead and very few people are going to mistake it for a fake MC? Or is it that the Motorhead patch is usually one big patch and not 3 separate patches?

Motorhead 3 piece are not legit Motorhead merch and they are NOT ok. Lemmy Kilmister was an old school biker himself and spent a lot of time around the MC world, there are even pictures out there of him on his old bikes. Hi Dibber. great site, enjoy your comments and advice a lot. Quick question, is it acceptable to wear a support patch on your vest belonging to a 1% MC when you ride your bike through an area which "belongs" (probably not the correct word !) to a different 1% Club ?. I only ask as I was "approached" by a member of a Support Club in my area (a Support Club for the local 1% Club) and "advised" that I shouldn't be showing the patch on my jacket. Your advice would be very much appreciated, I don't want to show disrespect to the local MCC & 1% Club. Although, I would confess at this point, I did tell the guy to "f*** off" . . which he did . . . .

Don't know what Dibber thinks, but IMO it's not a good idea. Unless the club you are supporting is affiliated with the MC (not exactly a likely scenario in the UK). If a member of the local MC catches you in their territory wearing support for a rival MC, they will not be a happy bunny. Don't do it. Show a little respect

Dibber, Although you speak mainly about the territory of Great Britain, but I think that what you say can be extensively used on the continent. My question is how do you find wearing the "bite me fanboy" patch from Lobo comic book? I've seen it several times on back of t-shirts or jeans cut vests. For me it looks like three-piece patch and I suppose it was to look like mc patch. As far I’m not planning to put this patch to on my cut, I’m still wondering, if it would be ok having it printed on the back of a t-shirt. Respect, R.

Doesn't matter if it's on the front or back, it's the actual 3 patch design that is the problem, MC back patch designs are ALL protected under copyright or trademark laws, and the even older clubs regailia is also protected under historical rights as it was the MC's that invented the 3 patch design. It belongs to the clubs, if you're not in an MC that has been cleared by the Coalition or Alliance of clubs, then you shouldn't be wearing our protected designs.

Hi mate, I've been following your channel for a while now. I've got a quick one for you. I'm a biker, but I'm also a die hard Motörhead fan. I have a big back patch (yet to be stitched on). It's a big square one with the classic warpig logo, but it has the band's name at the top and 'England' at the bottom. I'm pretty sure it's alright as it's not a 3-piece set up with the top and bottom rockers like the BLS one, but I thought I'd double check before getting it put on because I don't want to cause any disrespect or offence amongst patched clubs.

How about fire department patches…? I belong to a fire department that also really helps define who I am. One patch is for my whole department, another is for my individual station. Are those patches something that you would see as acceptable to wear? It's not like a 3-piece or anything, just the department patches alone. I do share the patch with these guys here and they are my brothers, every single one here will have my back and we stick together through anything, including falling through floors together which have happened before. I know that these sorts of definitions aren't exactly the same as an MC, but I think the concepts are. So I guess my question is as stated, are patches like those on the back alright if they're not a 3-piece? It's just one patch per shoulder blade

DibberInTheWind Ok I have been watching your videos for a while, missed this topic, and hopefully we can have an adult discussion on my point. What are your feelings on Police service patches, blue line patches and police medal ribbons? I have earned the right to wear them with 30 years service, as you can imagine I would be well pissed off to have a biker point out I should take them off. I have helped broken down Bikers out and bandaged them up on the floor at accidents. I am not asking or expecting friendship, but would expect respect for my earned patches. Interested in your take on it. Ride safe - cuts down my paperwork

You earned them, you wear them, same as anyone else that's been in service. The objection is patches made or set up to resemble MCC and MC patches, i'm sure as someone that earned your own patches you'd object to someone that hasn't been in one of the services wearing yours. Your patches define who you are, same goes for ours too.

@b.t.1632
@b.t.1632 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you live. First, I can say DO NOT claim territory on your patch. That's an immediate no-go. For the rest of the patch design and purpose, to many dominant clubs ANYTHING that symbolizes a GROUP of riders under a single patch, this can be a problem. Why? Because it is a declaration of a new "club". Riding club or MC start ups need to be cleared by the local dominant to ensure no problems down the road. Trust me, this will save you a lot of trouble later. Since you are doing a ministry thing, most dominant clubs will not have a problem with it as long as 1) your patch doesn't look like other clubs and you do not claim any territory,, and 2) you talk to them FIRST. Do not wait for them to come to you. That shows you tried to "get away with it" and can turn them sour to the idea. Best of luck, hope it works out for ya.

Please do a video of your opinion(s) on three wheeled motorcycles and the reverse trike Can Am Spyder. I myself ride a Can Am Spyder (long story short I'm 20 years old and disabled with limited use of my legs and have terrible balance) and I've been getting both good and bad comments (more bad than good) about my bike from other riders as well as people that don't ride at all (like saying "it's not a real bike" or "get a real bike"). And basically I would just like your take on these two types of bikes. Good day to you sir.

Real Trike's i think are OK, in fact i'm a bit of a fan of some of the more outrageous and obscure ones, once you have 2 wheels on the front end thou, nah, takes all the fun out of riding a trike, especially in the wet as you don't have so much traction in the front end and things can get very lively very quickly LOL. I have a few friends that have had to switch over to a trike due to injuries or chronic arthritis, for some bikers a Trike is a life saver and a lifeline. If riding any form of trike means a person can still have the rush and the wind in their face, who cares if it has 3 wheels. H&R

Dibs, can you do a video on the rise of the MCs in England? The reason I'm asking is because in the last year I've seen Vikings, Road Rats and HA. I'm east London based and know the HA are in Bethnal Green, but the other clubs seem more prevalent than ever. I saw the HA going through Blackfrairs the other day. With regards to talking to club members as a mon biker, nor someone who wants to, is there etiquette in approaching these lads? I'm interested in your channel because I'm interested in British sub cultures. Hey Dibbler, or anyone, hope you can help. I was looking at maybe starting a group in my hometown that is not an MC, its just a community group of sorts, and we had this idea of a single piece back patch claiming no turf or territory, just the name of the group and an insignia. (And it wont be set up to look like a 3 piece but its all attached, I know that's not a clever loophole.) Would this be okay or is this a good way to catch a beating?

LordOfTheHunt Well its not an MC, but I think you could consider it an SC, kinda like the old greaser gangs of the 50s-70s in the U.S. Personally I think its how y'all conduct yourselves, if you're not strutting around like you're a gang or with intent to front as violent. It may not be a good idea, but you'd have to ask yourself how the local clubs in your area would react. Like in my area, you could be in one of those fraternal orders like the FOE or the Moslems, where they have club jackets with their name and insignia. But if you're wearing cuts, you might have to rethink your style. I would suggest a small front patch to show your club but not show off like you're showing off colors to people who would want to harm you. My uncle started a club when he was a teenager with his friends and that's what he wears is just a small front patch telling their club, but no big patch with their logo. They aren't outlaws, but there is always a chance of getting into trouble with other clubs, especially in Detroit. Hope this helps.

You could get in touch with your local confederation/coalition of clubs. Any RC/MCC will be able to float your idea to the people who regulate such things. This is usually the local MC. They are the people you want to convince because they can advise you on what you can and can't do, if there is a club already fulfilling that mission you could join etc. If you have their back by showing the proper respect they will have your back if you run into any problems.

I'm glad I stumbled upon your video because I've always wondered what MCs think about the BLS vests. Funny thing is, there was a reality show some years back that followed the Ozzfest tour and long story short Zack Wylde got all upset at some kid for putting a BLS vest on and gave a whole speech about respect and how the vest had to be earned. Yet he didn't seem to realize the irony in the fact that he was disrespecting MCs himself. Also, wanted to ask about the Sons of Anarchy gear. Obviously there is always going to be controversy but ive founs that bikers are genuienly nice compassionate ordinary people so if your wearing a jumper or jacket with it printed on like any other bought merch fine a simple conversation shows your not trying to act the part, sewing patches on the other hand is asking for more due to the obvious.

The Ireland Merch noes NOT have a physical bottom rocker, it has Ireland in a ribbon side on as part of the centre patch, big difference to having a physical bottom rocker. You're wrong to assume the official Merch is accepted by the general club community which simply isn't the case, there are patch holders that will take the official Merch too as they see it as an affront, just because one club says it's ok it doesn't mean all the other clubs think the same way, i take fake patches period.

Not set up as a 3 Piece Back Patch as that wouldn't be your official Military insignia/Regalia, the 3 piece is the creation and property of the original MC clubs that broke the single back-patch into 3 individual patches. Not only that, you have to consider the exclusively Military and Veteran MC's such as The Patriots MC that fly a 3 piece, and clubs that are already in existence, if you want to go down that road i'd suggest these awesome Military Clubs. You keep bashing those keys all you like about what you want, what you will or wont do, just bare this in mind before trying act all tough, it only took around 6 MC patch holders to shut down a whole BLS concert in Manchester in 2005, didn't see anyone brave enough to say NO when told to remove it or have it confiscated, and they can do that legally you know as BLS management and Zakky boy already knows. Trademark violation gives them the legal right to confiscate on sight and there is FUCK ALL you or anyone else can do about it, not even the police will take your side if you're violating a registered trademark, i've known MC's turn up and empty warehouses of big fashion houses for having garments with their trademark on them, what makes you think that you are immune, your not. If you're female you stand a very big chance of getting your ass firmly stomped into the ground by the Women's WMC's and those girls take absolutely no prisoners and they fight like men, some are even dirtier fighters as they had to earn those patches the very same way as the men, the men will remove any patch on sight as will the women WMC's. If you want to shit and keep face at the same time, i'd suggest you fuck-off smartish to the places where you can get away with talking shit and acting all tough, in here myself and others will just relentlessly rip you a brand spanking new ass. Now be a good-un, put on your clown shoes, and disappear to somewhere where someone actually gives a fuck about your opinion - here's another thing, real tough people don't hide behind a faceless profile, that's the action of a gutless clown-show wearing coward.

So I'm a coward because I don't have a pic for my profile, also I never claimed to be all tough, i was just stating my opinion.

Your opinion means squat, everyone has opinions but it doesn't mean they are right or trump trademark law, you are the one in the wrong if you're wearing BLS in public, you know what will happen if you're seen as you've been told, you know it will be legally confiscated, and no doubt find it's way onto the wall behind the bar or somewhere where it can be seen, by club that confiscated it, now run along before i hit that BLOCK button.

I love BLS and my battle jacket. But damn, that marketing wasn’t the best decision for the band lol.

Would you not recommend wearing the BLS back patch in public?

I wonder if Black Label Society designed their patches in the style of Motorhead, if they would still get flak for it. I have only seen one Motorhead "3 piece" design, and even then, it was screen printed, not embroidered

No official Motorhead merch has physical rockers with middle patch on the backs of their garments, there is a big single piece patch and that doesn't have physical rockers either as well as t-shirts etc. I should point out thou, if a group of people thought they could circumvent the patch rules by copying the official merch Motorhead England, they better think again as that would be seen for what it is, a club patch.

Just wondered with rockers, if you were to wear rockers with live to ride ride to live on with no type of patch between them would that be offensive in any way?

hi dibs. what's the thinking around "scooter clubs" I've seen a few over the years with the top rocker bottom rocker and club emblem. is this a total different thing altogether. many thanks.

Scooter clubs tend to do their own thing and also police themselves in matters of scooter clubs, i do however advise that scooter clubs also check with the senior MC before donning a patch as they could be using an MC or MCC's name or colour combination, more so if they are thenking of going around local club events, it also has it's benefits to be on side with your local MC/MCC clubs H&R
