My friends always tell me patch sewing is better with a sewing machine, that it is easier and faster. But I just LOVE hand sewing my patches, it is sooo relaxing and makes it feel way more personal and makes me appreciate a lot more the work I made, so why would I want to make it faster? 💓 I love your videos, you're really creative uwu

Omg yess and also… its near impossible to sow on pockets and have them be usable with a machine. And also i like to completely hide my stitches by matching the thread color to the color of where im sowing so it would be a massive pain to keep changing threads on a machine

I have several battle jackets that I've made over the years, but I've never considered adding so many three-dimensional charms and toys! I wonder how the bones will hold up over time. The jacket looks great though, I love the way all the different textures and mediums mix. Its a real piece of assemblage art

I love your hair!!! I’ve been wanting to hand sew my own wardrobe as my mom encourages me to sew and I thought “Why not tackle 2 birds with one stone? I’ve barely got any goth clothing (I’ve got like 2 shirts) and it gives me experience,” I might do the shirt idea with my Halloween fabrics as I have a LOT of those I can use to make one. Do you have any ideas for custom sewing outfits? I prefer not to wear skirts but I’m not so good at making hoodies so I might just use the hoodie I was gonna use for fabric scraps to make a similar jacket. ☺️

Love how it all comes together and the details! ❤ Gave me a flashback to more than ten years ago, when I had a black jacket that I stitched all kinds of colourful buttons on and a Sex Pistols patch, but I was changing styles so quickly back then that I didn't appreciate it enough and I've always regretted not having it anymore... but recently I found a very comfy peach jacket and I've been going over some ideas in my mind to spice it up a bit, so who knows when or what I'll do with it. It's all a matter of time and feeling~

Charity shops/thrift stores are perfect for finding new pieces! It’s also really good for experimenting with customisation as if it goes wrong you’ve only lost a little bit of money, ass opposed to a lot if you maybe bought it new from a chain store!
@KaylaKasel
@KaylaKasel 2 жыл бұрын
If you want to reuse things you already have, you could always distress/cause rips in clothing. Or repurposing old found objects. That's pretty simple, with no extra to little materials necessary. You could also look into trade/swap groups online or "free" sections of Facebook Marketplace/Craiglist. Idk your personal situation and I don't want to assume, but these could be good places to start.
@RattusRattus
@RattusRattus 2 жыл бұрын
YES to both these comments!!! Wonderful advice ! I would like to add on that the cheapest customization material is paint (get it at the dollar store) , and with a bit of needle and thread or just safety pins and paint and old fabric you can make patches yourself basically for free ! And all the stuff you draw / paint on your jacket will add tons of decoration with little money (literally one bottle of paint from the dollar store will last you so many projects!) I think also safety pins and rips and shreds, I tried to make lots of the customization options in this video cheap (using a 1$ pantyhose as a sleeve, using recycled jeans to make patches, showing bottle cap buttons, broken jewellery as accessory etc) but I can try to make a more explicit video talking about cheap diys since I get this question all the time (and my advice is always - look around , ask around , use things you already have (or that others have thrown out), and use creativity to repurpose things!) it will take a bit of time and effort but it is so worth it ! ❤️🥰

After trying several methods, honestly "threading/sewing" spider webs are the best, it lasts long and it looks very good BUT it depends on the type of perfecto you're dealing with, the ones from the 80s/90s are impossible (the leather is top tough) to go go through with a needle even a very thick one. Or I like using good quality french manicure white nail polish and then spraying it with a waterproofing spray made for leather. 😉

Hey Rabbit!!! I can’t believe I missed this when it came out, but glad I finally saw it because I needed some of your good vibes today💜 the back patch you made turned out ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! And this whole jacket turned out so cool!!! Mixing together paint and fabric softener makes the paint able to stretch and move without cracking or anything, which is super great when painting on anything that’s gonna stretch while wearing it💕 I don’t know if that would be helpful on something with a more “leathery” texture though...

I really like your Jacket. Your style is awesome. I have a tip maybe for the next time you could open up one of the seams on the inner lining. I´ve done this on the back of my Punk Jacket so I don´t sew the lining. And for me it makes it much easier to sew stuff on the arms (some parts even with the sewing machine). You could even add a zipper and have permanent access for changes and repair. Sorry english is not my first language.

During chemistry once, we were using those crocodiles clip things and my friend somehow put two on my hood without me noticing but I was to scared to give them back to my teacher the next day so I used them on my crust pants lol

I just placed my patches as I went. I used studs to line the patches instead. It looks cooler that way

there is one way to do it wrong and that is by putting alt-right slogans on it, since that kinda goes against what alt fashion is

I just had a brain wave: I have a hard time pinning or sewing things onto my faux leather vest, and when I do wear the faux leather vest, it's usually during the colder months. I wonder if it would be helpful to get a vest made of denim or some kind of cotton that I just wear on top of the faux leather one, so I can sew patches and pins onto the cloth vest and avoid the headache of faux leather sewing. Then when the weather is hot, I could just wear the cloth vest without having to take the patches and pins off of the faux leather one.
