The stand you made for the saw is ridiculously over-built....and I love it.

Lol, I used stuff left over from other projects. At least I don't have to worry too much about it tipping over

It's good you can restore a quality, solid, well-made saw because they don't make them like that anymore. Great footage!

Did you have any issues with blade tracking on the lower wheel? I have that same saw and fighting that now. When I spin the wheels clockwise the blade moves to the front till it slips off. If I spin the wheels counter clockwise the blade moves to the back and slips off the lower wheel. If you have any info I'd appreciate it!!!

@@codygray54 you need to crown the tires. You can find the correct rubber tires at Carter Products. If you want contact me via Facebook and I can explain the process. facebook.com/ClintonCaraway

Looking to make a base for my WT 16" wood/metal bandsaw,and those leveling casters would work perfectly.Where did you get them?
@LewisRenovation3 жыл бұрын
I got them off a piece of equipment at work that was being scrapped. If I bought them, they'd probably cost more than I paid for the saw
@walttani38224 жыл бұрын
Nice job. I have the same saw, but mine never worked as it has the same rubber tires on it, probably, that it left the factory with. My new urethane tires arrived today and I'm pulling the old tires off and cleaning the wheel surfaces of old varnished glue, its pretty bad. Mine has the original base and tilt/table hardware, so if you need pics sent to help rebuild yours, pls hit me up. At some point in its life, the blade guide on mine was changed to rollers, but the blade has never tracked right due to the severe tire wear.
@LewisRenovation4 жыл бұрын
Hope your new tires make it run better! If you could send some pics of the tilt hardware and blade guides, I would greatly appreciate it. joeu235@gmail.com

Did you have any issue with the blade tracking on the lower wheel? I have that saw and struggling to get it to track on the lower wheel. Any info would be much appreciated!!!
@LewisRenovation4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've had and still have trouble with the same issue. I believe my upper and lower wheels are not perfectly aligned. I pulled the lower wheel off once and moved the bearings to better align the wheels. It made it better but kind of a pain. I need to do it again with a little more precision to bring it in even better. Hopefully this helps
@codygray544 жыл бұрын
Yea I was thinking the wheels are not aligned right. So I'm currently dis assembling, cleaning, and then re assembling. Hopefully I can get the wheels aligned properly. Thank you for the info and making the video!
@LewisRenovation4 жыл бұрын
@@codygray54 Next time I disassemble, I plan on making a mark on the lower shaft where the bearing sits before disassembly and then moving it over the distance that the upper and lower wheels are out of align. Good luck!!
@dwehbie4 жыл бұрын
How many bearings are on the lower shaft? Is there one per side?
@LewisRenovation4 жыл бұрын
X2, one on each side

Walker Turner has been my favorite bandsaws for almost 30yrs of woodworking. I still use one everyday. If you have issues with blade tracking it is because crowned rubber tires work much better for bandsaws with flat wheels. You can find them at Carter Products as well as modern all bearings guides for your saw. www.carterproducts.com/
