Nice reaction, fun to see you head bobbing more these days! I also liked how you pick up on Fami’s bass, she was hammering all through the song. It’s an interesting song but I thought the melody was great. As usual, even in a live performance they are so in sync, with Haruna just enjoying life at a lightning pace. Miyako is known for being more melodic, while Midori likes to be more ‘creative’. You should try Epilogue by them, another side of their musical abilities, from acoustic to piano to melodic guitar. LOVEBITES - We Are the Resurrection lyrics: Blowing storms, Rising shadows Thunder roars, Appearing once more No one knows, Trouble and struggles What we've been through, Where does justice go? With the soul burning endless inside me We will hold all the promise we made Staring in silence Feeling the weakness Creeping up on me Building up walls but this is my way All the pain Will make you stronger The answer is all inside of me Through the dark, what we have all been waiting And the land that is laying beyond determination Reflower of roses The beginning of your stage Leave all of the deep sorrow and starting this new journey This beautiful melody will purify everything Free yourself, strong and bravely Believe in the way you are SOLOS: midori / miyako / both Blowing storms Rising shadows Thunder roars Appearing once more No one knows Troubles and struggles What we've been through Where does justice go? With the soul burning endless inside me We will hold all the promise we made Staring in silence Reflower of roses The beginning of your stage Leave all of the deep sorrow and starting this new journey This beautiful melody will purify everything Free yourself, strong and bravely Believe in the way you are ----- lyrics: asami music: midori, asami & Mao arrangement: Mao & LOVEBITES album: Judgement Day 02/22/2023 ------

Excellent analysis again Bob, LOVEBITES is my favorite band and this is one of my favorite performances from them. Miyako is known as the more melodic guitarist, but Midori is more than capable of playing that way too. They kind of have a separation in their focus which is intentional, Midori does more of the crazy shredding, Miyako more melodic, I like the way they have these differences to make them compliment each other and make a dual lead guitar much more dynamic and one can tell without looking who is playing solos, these ladies are my favorite guitarists. 🤘🐺🤘

Oh stop! :) :) They are both complete guitarists. The main difference, to my ears, is their tone. Midori seems partial to settings that accentuate the high and low frequencies while Miyako's tone covers the mid-range. I think that's why they sound so good when they play together.

I forgot to add in that Miyako has been the melodic player, but during and after Covid she began to work with Midori to increase her fretboard speed, so now at times it is difficult to know who is playing as they are more comparable. Midori has said she likes to be a bit more dysfunctional with her playing style. I recently read from one fan that Haruna practices to minimize her playing as she does not like wasted movements. You rarely see her with exaggerated strikes, everything is reserved and consistent. And Fami is ripping on the bass, it is nice to really hear her playing.
@bobcieslinski3 ай бұрын
They are truly becoming an even greater band and they were amazing before. Those solos are so much fun to watch and listen to. They both are so good.
@One8082 ай бұрын
Midori seems to be more economic with her movements as well. She doesn't seem to lift her fingers more or have bigger strokes than needed. I suspect that's a result of having attended a guitar school vs Miyako who's more self-taught on guitar.
@guygourley24112 ай бұрын
@@One808 I actually mentioned that in a forum probably a year ago with little discussion, but I agree. I believe that is in part what was preventing Miyako from playing a bit faster, and in their early concerts Miyako made more mistakes, however those were far and few and probably only discerning people noticed them. Midori plays more on the tips of her fingers while Miyako's fretboard technique seems to be a popular one over a lot of new guitarists, which is more using the pads of her fingers, so a flatter finger technique. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just that the finger board techniques are different, and I agree it is probably due to schooling.

One of your best LOVEBITES reactions Bob… educational for a non musician (me). My personal take is that Midori appears the more technical, Miyako has always been very expressive and it shows on her face and in her body language. I was a few feet from Midori in Milan (leaning on the stage!) and the way she holds the pick very firmly yet is so amazingly nimble blew my mind. The prelude to this clip is the opening anthem played with orchestra (electronic…Miyako, or possibly Mau) and the girls walk out on stage in single file. It’s spine tingling. Do yourself a favour. Check out the Official Website (not channel). This whole show (the upcoming release) is being broadcast on KZbin for free on Bites day (so called because 8/12 in Japanese (phonetically) is Ba it tsu. Say it quickly… “bites”. #LOVEBITES #UNCHAINED

Memorial For the Warrior's Soul is the title of the upcoming DVD. Concert was recorded last Sep. Video is the first of 2 released so far from that. Song is track on the 2023 Judgement Day album. Asami wrote the lyrics, she Miyako and Mao co wrote the music. Midori does like the whammy bar, you have heard her use it before, with that dive bomb at the start of "Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down) a prime example. Miyako will use the pedals for effects. Miyako is probably more melodic overall, but both are very capable. Miyako's band given nickname is "The Golden Touch", Midori is "Crazy Shredder". Yeah, Haruna, is a beast and just makes it look so effortless back there. Mark down August 28. That's when the entire DVD releases, and also the day the brand new EP (LOVEBITES EP II) will drop. "Rising" is the other from this show that is out, that I would say should probably be next , when you come back to them. After that, you haven't done a couple of my favorites from them yet. "Holy War" and "Thunder Vengeance", both live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020. HW is a common reactor introduction to LB song.

@@bobcieslinski Thanks for more LOVEBITES. I consider LOVEBITES song compositions to be 'on par' with their exceptional musicianship. "We Are The Resurrection" has Midori as primary composer of the music, with support from both Asami & Mao (not Miyako). Lyrics by Asami. To date I have not seen Miyako & Mao credited on the same song, and neither are credited with lyrics*. (*only exception is "Holy War" music by Mao and lyrics by LOVEBITES, which includes Miyako) The lyrics, often posted by whirled_peace, have credits for music, lyrics, arrangement & original-release-disc at the bottom of their post. Also of interest, LOVEBITES will be streaming "Memorial For The Warrior Souls" Blu-ray in it's entirety on August 12. One time through here on KZbin on their Official Channel. (5:AM Pacific as I recall) An 'edition' of the new 5 song "LOVEBITES EP II" can also include a RE-recording of the original "The LOVEBITES EP" 4 songs, in 'fresh' performances by the band in it's current state.

Next single „Soul defender“ will be released on August 12. „Memorial of the Warrior Souls“ is the live recording of last year‘s Tokyo concert during the Judgement Day tour. It features 7 live versions of songs from the „Judgement Day“ album including „Soldier stands solitarily“. Love them! There's so much talent here. Can't say anything about any one of them and not feel like you're leaving out something else about what everyone else did in the song. I'd say my favorite thing in here is Asami moving through her mid tones and then suddenly switching gears and soaring with the vocals. I love that. That's not to say I don't hear Fami's bass chugging along, Midori's whammy bar sections, those solos, and Haruna. Always Haruna back there being amazing. This song does indeed end really cool too, with the riffs and the odd counts. Thanks for the reaction!

Bob, welcome back to Lovebitess and great review & analysis as usual ! Midori mentioned in an interview that she used to focus on the more technical solos and Miyako on the more melodic ones for their older songs. However, that distinction has pretty much blurred, especially on their latest album. BTW, this LIVE performance is from their new LIVE LP "Memorial for the Warrior Souls". They dropped another track/LIVE video recently from this LIVE LP called "Rising". In addition, the band also premiered a song on their official YT channel called "Unchained" from their latest EP "Lovebites EP II". Both the new LIVE LP and EP will be released later this month on August 28.
