Mayu has at least a 100 voices, which you will learn as you explore them more. Mayu put the band together and was known as Mayu's Session Band. As they worked together they realized they had something. So they took the big step to become Nemophila. Looked as a "Super Group" because all are other bands. The 2 "stars" are Tamu, drums and Saki, guitars. Both considered elite musicians is Japan. Tamu is a much in demand session drummer and Saki is from Mary's Blood a major rock/metal band since about 2011. Did you notice that Saki and Hazuki are playing 7 string guitars?!? They toured the US this year and last year they played the Whiskey A Go Go and the Aftershock festival in California. We are waiting for their next US tour.

The drummer is one of a kind. She had been a professional drummer since she's a teenager (now a mother of 2) and became the most sought-after session drummer in Japan for decade. Besides playing for NEMOPHILA (and other fill-in when called upon) she also a lecturer/instructor at Saila Drums School Yokohama, TAMA Drum Clinic and plays for corporate sound production company Inspion Inc. Known as the smiling drums goddess, Ai Murata (stage name: Murata Tamu, or Tamu for short) is a powerful and established professional solo drummer. She started as jazz drummer in 2007 at the early age of 15 and received guidance from a very well established session drummer, Masahiko Noguchi at Saila Drum School, Yokohama, Japan. Now she is also a lecturer/instructor at Saila. She is on top of her game as a support drummer and the most sought-after for fill-in role in Japan for many years. Tamu continue her drumming activities after graduated from high school and in 2013 she launched her own KZbin channel Murata Tamu (by June 2022 it gained close to 65 millions views). That same year, she joined all girls rock band SORAMIMI. She graduate from university in 2015, the same year she was awarded as the best female drummer in the voting project My Goddess 2015 (and later in 2017) by BEEAST - Living with Rock, Lifestyle Support Magazine. In the same voting project, SAKI, Mary's Blood guitarist (now NEMOPHILA guitarist, the second solo here) won the best female guitarist award 2015. She signed her first endorsement contract with TAMA Drums in 2016. SORAMIMI suspended in 2017 and from then on, her professional carrier in solo drumming started to picked-up drastically. In January 2017, she released a self-produced DVD 'Murata Tamu's Hyper Drum Training. She made her debut in solo live performance in February at sold-out venue TSUTAYA O-Crest live music centre. In April 2017, she joined a project led by Takeshi Kuramochi and Daisuke Kurosawa for INSPION Inc., a corporate sound production company providing music for games and TV programs. Among their prominent clients are CAPCOM, Cygames, Square Enix, SEGA, Nippon Television Network Corporation, BANDAI NAMCO Studios and many more. She is still an active staff member of INSPION Inc. until now. In May 2017, she held a second live solo concert at TSUTAYA O-West and invited Japan's infamous drummer, Nyango Star as her guest. She released an EP titled INNOCENT in September with four original songs composed by her, one of which she also sings. She appeared at TSUTAYA O-West again for her third live solo concert to commemorate the release of INNOCENT. In July 2017, Tamu was awarded as the best female drummer again in the voting project My Goddess 2017. She appeared in NAONのYAON, an outdoor stage festival celebrating female artists organized by legendary Japanese all-female metal band SHOW-YA, every year since 2017 and she is NAONのYAON 'house drummer'. She is one of the prominent support drummer in Guitar Girls Collection project co-organized by SAKI of Mary's Blood (NEMOPHILA guitarist now). She is also the drummer support for idol group The World Standard (WASUTA), Nanase Aikawa, Rie a.k.a Suzaku and many other successful artists. She regularly appeared on the national music information TV 'MUSIC BB'. Tamu was very active with drums seminars at vocational schools and musical instrument stores; and Drum Clinic Tour in China. In August 2017, she launched a KZbin channel Tamu Zukan where she invite, learn and explore other drummers' skill set as well as various musical instruments. In January 2018, Tama Drumsticks H-TMTM, Murata Tamu signature model hits the market. In March, she appeared in Naka-Kon 2018 (Kansas City, USA) - an annual convention celebrating anime, manga, cosplay, music, fashion and gaming. Tamu was invited as a guest drummer and performed at the event, a gesture of recognition and appreciation for her contribution to the industries under the INSPION banner. She held another live concert at TSUTAYA O-West in May 2018 to commemorate the release of her double-sided A-side single "Super D & D-Completely Lead I'm Me / D Absolutely! SAMURAI in the Rain" featuring Ladybeard - former vocalist of Deadlift Lolita and Ladybaby, now a lead vocalist of BABYBEARD. In mid 2018, she held her 5th installment of her solo live concerts at two venues, OSAKA MUSE and Shibuya WWW-X celebrating her entering into 10 years of professional drumming. By 2019, she already had 6 live solo concerts under her belt with the latest one was held in January at TSUTAYA O-West. In August 2019, she was invited to perform in Mayu Session band by vocalist, mayu, who later contacted her friend and ex-HöLDERLINS bassist Haraguchi-san for the project. mayu contacted SAKI (MARY'S BLOOD guitarist, ex-Destrose) through mutual friend to play guitar. SAKI then introduced Hazuki (DISQUALIA guitarist) to the rest of the band since Disqualia activities was put on hold and Hazuki that time was a support guitarist for RAMI and Li-sa-X (in 2020, Li-sa-X BAND was formed with Hazuki as permanent member). Mayu Session band performed at live venue and they hits off immediately eventhough its the first time they played together on stage and some members didn't know each other before. They had lots of fun together and thought this is what they are looking for individually - technical superiority asides, a tight band and fun friends. After that one session ended they decided to stay together and make their quintet permanent, which is now known as NEMOPHILA. In September 2019, Tamu announced in her social media "I became a drummer of NEMOPHILA. Thanking you in advance. I'm glad I met some nice friends and I'll hit them with my soul." ...and she did hit them hard as the band grew tighter every day, in line with the growth of their local and international fan base. In October 2019, Tamu signed another endorsement contract with MEINL cymbals. SAKI, the main composer for Mary's Blood said that she and the composer team write songs for NEMOPHILA and pass the midi to other members for input but Tamu, being the most experienced member of the band write the drums notations by herself. She is pushing forward without any sign of slowing down and her friends commented that her drumming is now even more powerful after she became a mother.😮

Nemophila came about when Mayu, the vocalist, left her previous band, Lipstick, and wanted to do a solo show. She needed backing musicians, so she asked her former classmate Haraguchi-san to play bass. The recruited drummer Tamu Murata. Mayu was introduced to guitarist Saki (the one playing the second solo) through a mutual friend. Saki brought in the other guitarist, Hazuki. They all felt that the lineup was too good to be a one-ting thing, so they found the name Nemophila and became a band. They've played with a number of the other all-female bands of Japan like BAND-MAID, Hanabie, Show-Ya, and Gacharic Spin (can't _wait_ for you to see them) and others. Saki and Miyako of LOVEBITES send each other gifts for their birthdays. Thanks for taking a listen to the great Nemophila.

Hey Bob, glad you found these ladies. They are awesome! Yes, they are Japanese. You pronounced the band name correctly. In 2019 lead singer Mayu was looking for a backing band for a live session. She got together with former classmate ,bassist Hariguchi-san. They found drummer Tamu Murata, ex-Mary's Blood guitarist Saki, and ex-Disquala guitarist Hazuki. They felt that the lineup was too good for a one-off and decided to form a band. They wanted to name it after a flower because they are all female. Love Mayu's screams, and she switches back and forth to cleans easily. Rise is a new song released this year. They have 2 albums released previously, Revive in 2021, and Seize the Fate last December. They just released a new official live a couple weeks ago for the first single of the first album, a song called Oiran.

Thanks Bob for another great reaction. I hadn't realized you hadn't gotten around to Nemophila yet. They are in my top three bands currently, all of which are Japanese bands. I had the chance to fly out and see them in San Francisco in March and I can't wait until they tour here in the states again. Mayu is my absolute favorite vocalist. Brings tears to my eye at times with her delivery and vocal ability. The entire band is incredible and you summed it up pretty well in your first reaction here.

Nemophila (Nemo-feel-ah) is a combination from other bands. Mayu is the vocalist. Hazuki (left) and Saki (right) guitars, Haraguchi-san on bass, and Tamu on drums. They formed just as covid hit , and for most of 2020 & 2021, they spent their time on the studio and released a bunch of in studio live covers as well as some original material. They co-write most of their music with the help of an arranger. They recently did a small US tour (west coast NY and TX). I hope they come back to the Southeast soon. I have BandMaid and The Warning checked off my list, so they are at the top now.

Another discovery for you as you continue down the Japanese rock/metal rabbit hole. Nemophila is such a versatile band as you will discover. 2 of my favourites are “Hypnosis” and “Life.” “Life” is very emotional because it’s about Tamu, the drummer, rejoining the band after having a child.

LOL, the little diddle-diddle thing that SAKI (the guitarist on our right) played is sweep picking. She loves throwing a little sweep phrase into her solos. The tremolo-picking is another trademark feature of her playing. The other guitarist (blue guitar) is Hazuki. Where SAKI's style is kind of classic metal shred, Hazuki's has a few more modern traits. Both fantastic players and they work together so perfectly. Defnitely my favourite guitar team. They totally leave me in their dust and I've probably been playing longer than both of them added together.

Nemophila - "baby blue eyes" flower, "Rurikarakusa" in Japanese; grows in N-America and is appreciated in Japan (see "Hitachi Seaside Park"). The band was formed in 2019, originally as a "session" brought together by... The musical scene in Japan is absolutely stunning, and the all-women bands are with any doubt on the foreground. It is quite impossible to recommend the next title to react, because all of them are top of the notch, including the tracks from their two albums which have not been released as MV on YT. Nemophila is (since the beginning) on my top 3 favorite bands with Hanabie and Asterism. And I cannot resist to encourage you to have a check to Hanabie ("Be the Gal" or "Pardon me I have to go now", or the insane "We love sweets"). And speaking of Tamu, the drummer of Nemophila, you can also check her last and recent contribution to the instrumental tracks from Nakayoshi Metal "band/EP" ("Cyclopes" and "Orthrus" are just awesome).

They are a fantastic group of ladies and musicians and are amazing live. They play many styles. They also have a sort of sixth member who writes songs and helps them develop their own music. Nemophila, Hanabie, Lovebites. My 3 favourite Japanese metal bands. Gacharic Spin are another great Japanese pop/rock group that are amazing musicians. BandMaid aren’t my favourite but are pretty popular in the rock category and are worth checking out.

Hi Bob. Nemophila is one of my absolute favorites. Not only because they are insanely good, but also because they are so versatile and seem to be such nice people. * They have a ton of covers, mainly recorded in Tamu's practice studio. They are totally out of this world. Often better than the originals. And the ladies have so much fun. * They also have a set of originals, all of them very good: Adabana, Dissension, Fighter, Hypnosis, Oiran, Raitai, Revive. * They have mostly movies and live studio sessions and they are very well made. * When it comes to live performances the quality of the videos is very mixed. None are spectacular quality, som few are good but it is mostly fan videos taken with a phone. * There are som good live videos at Naon Yaon, womans Japanese metal/rock festival - without audience. * There are also some (fake) club performances that are fantastic - also without audience. * This "without audience" thing is due to covid, of course. * Lovebites and Band-Maid are totally pros on audio quality at live concerts. It does not seem like Nemophila do manage this as good.

And, of course, one of reason for me liking Nemophila is Tamu. I have followed her long before Nemophila was formed. She is totally insanely good. And she has lots of material on KZbin. She is also a very nice person. And her smile can melt anyone.

The female Japanese metal rock scene is incredible,and elite. Lovebites, Nemophila Band-Maid and Hanabie are all awesome (and there are others). In 50 yrs of listening to metal/rock it's never been so enjoyable. Miyako/Midori from Lovebites and Hasuki/Saki from Nemophila are my favorite paid of dual guitarists ever. Mayu (the lead singer) has become an incredible frontwomen. They just have been getting better and better. Lovebites is my fav, but Nemophila is giving my "allegiance" a run for the money.

Even though my vocabulary is rather extensive, I still can’t adequately describe how talented this band. The eldest two musicians (Tamu-dr, and Saki-gr) are often referred to as Goddesses. I hate to use those terms as the younger three are knocking on the door! It’s hard to find a band without a single weak link. There are others, but it’s difficult.

Nemophila (it is a type of flower) is kind of an accidental super group that formed for a single project but was too good so they formed a band. As they all come different musical backgrounds they can play anything and are highly variable what they release as songs; generally they are heavier than Lovebites but they can go softer than Lovebites or Band-Maid, at the same time they are fairly relaxed and even playful. They also have an extensive selection of cover songs, they released a bunch during the shutdown, they cover bands that influenced them (Foo Fighters or Seikima II) or that they want to acknowledge (Hanabie) or just for fun (The Minion Banana Song). I'm not sure if you want to reserve your reactions to the original music of the band or not, they have more than enough original songs that you don't need to do the covers, so maybe you can just listen to the covers for your own enjoyment without having to be on camera.

Happy your enjoyed this one! As @bandmaidfanATL mentioned, they do a Kiss cover complete with Kiss make up, as well as some others like Journey's Separate Way, basically just fun stuff for them. I would also recommend Adabana (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6m8moKtqNpprbc) for the future, and the powerful (and a favorite of mine) ballad that almost brings tears to the eye Now I Here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJ7FdmSdntCJqrM) which shows off a complete different side of the band, and Mayu's vocal talent. Looks like the band members have been covered in the comments, but Hazuki (guitarist) is also superb, and plays in a few songs with Lisa-x and was also with Disqualia. As usual with the Japanese bands, their musicianship is excellent.

Great reaction. Nemophila is amazing. They are shredders. Mostly metal but play quite of bit of straight up hard rock with a few poppy ones here and there. Great musicians. Seen them live. They were awesome. This is their newest release. They only been around 4 years have 2 kick ass albums and others too. Also have done many killer covers too. Try and check out Adabana, Dissension, Revive, Oiran Live.

hello.....I am a huge Band Maid fan and normally not metal fan....until I heard this band.....They are made up of an Allstar cast of some of the best female metal musicians in Japan. The two guitarists are considered prodigy's and the drummer is considered one of the top female drummers in the world !!!!!!! And vocalist is the best metal vocalist I have ever heard !!! This is the only band I have heard that matches the musicianship of Band Maid but in a different genre. Check out their new song Hypnosis....My fav !!!

The song revive is the one that went around the world and people started noticing them and exploded on KZbin. The official live video of oiran is so good. Older song from before they were noticed around the world. But so good song. If you haven't seen it, it's worth seeing the Japanese female metal face, smiling and radiant, without scary faces and showing how monstrous, evil I am. You pronounce Nemophila very well. Saki (second solo) and Tamu (dr) are already veterans and widely regarded as one of the best on their instruments, often the best. In her former band, Mary's Blood, Saki earned the nickname The Queen of Shredding, and is often referred to as the Empress (usually playing Killer Fascinator Seven the Empress (galaxy black petals) guitar). Saki has a lot to write about. Not only is she talented, but still extremely hardworking. The same can be said about Tamu. They have a lot of achievements. I encourage Namophila to react next. Maybe Adabana, or the oriental Hypnosis... Fantastic group of musicians, absolutely, but their music vids are much too heavily edited for visual cuts and effects to really watch them make music. "Rise" makes you think at the start they're just another metal sound, but they're very much their own sound. There are official live vids they have on KZbin an on their site which I find a lot more enjoyable for watching.
