As someone who grew up in musical theatre… when you perform from the heart in front of hundreds and thousands… it isn’t reality anymore. You literally poured your life and soul out into the performance and just that split second to snap back to reality and shed those tears of beauty is the sweetest thing ever. Like *wow*

So the surprise was she had to go on BG at all. Just played the ff6 pixel remaster, and hearing Celes sing made my heart happy. I feel like Celes and Aerith would've become friends. Locke and Cloud would've probably been friends too. Terra and Nanaki. Barret and Cyan. Yuffie and Relm/Gau. Cid and Edgar. Setzer and Cait Sith. Tifa and Sabin. I could see the ff6 and ff7 cast getting along well, very similar spirits.

What was the inspiration behind No Promises to Keep? Uematsu: Since it is a ballad, I wanted to make it absolutely electrifying. I was asked to make the song so that the key phrase would play in repetition, and that’s when Harry Nilsson’s “Without You” came to mind. I took inspiration from it and decided to repeat a key phrase in the chorus. How did you feel when you first listened to “No Promises to Keep?” Uematsu: This is the first time I’ve heard this, and I’m glad she sensed exactly what we were aiming for. “No Promises to Keep” is a love song. I wanted it to exude a sweet feeling, but at the same time, evoke the complex feeling as Aerith confessed her feelings. I tried to build up the song as it climaxed, exactly as Loren described Was there anything you paid attention to when singing “No Promises to Keep”? Loren: I wanted to get to know Aerith well, and I also wanted to depict her relationship with Cloud. So, for me to channel her fragile and pure personality, I needed to change certain elements of my natural vocals to match up with her character. No Promises to Keep was inspired by, “Without you” I just listened to the version Mariah Carey sings in Tokyo and wow, you need to listen to it.

I always had an emotional attachment to the original Final Fantasy VII from when I was a child, then I got to start playing the original again as an adult in preparation for the Remake Series. Playing through Remake & Rebirth so far bring back so many great memories and getting to play through scenes albeit reimagined like this are all kinds of lovely! And there've been quite a few tears.

Came back here after witnessing this on Chapter 12. I really cried 2AM in the morning, because of this scene. This is just purely magical. The emotions the song brought out of us players, especially we have invested in the characters and in the story. FF7 Rebirth is just on a whole 'nother level. Square Enix, thank you for this game! The remake of FF7 was truly worth the wait and I can't wait to finish the FF7Rebirth and for the final installment of this game.

RIP Aerith. Just (finally) got through the end of Rebirth last night. The hurt 20+ years ago when I first played it and even though I knew the story, of course, losing her was still rough. My wife, who only periodically watched segments of the game, teared up at her death and the ending (emotional) scene, even.

Tifa and Cloud only hold hands when you get her as your date but when you have the others they won't hold hands. Also Aerith always plays Princess Rosa if you got Aerith or the other members as a date.

This song Aerith wrote is for Cloud, how they met in the street and how it changed her life. And btw she reassures him he has no promises to keep (the opposite of Tifa basically), as she already told him in the dream Remake when he said « I’m coming for you » and her to answer « if that what you WANT… thank you ». At the end of Rebirth, he also says « I will stop Sephiroth » and her to respond « Promise ?? » as a joke « Promise » he smiles.
