Gamb really gives off 2019 Jackson vibes with trumpets. They were present all throughout this battle, they are what Jsu trumpets should be right now.Noasb sounds like Su with no trumpets, they clocked out in the middle of the battle, were they even at the battle? Noasb definitely underestimated Gamb and paid the price dearly
@charleswalker82642 жыл бұрын
GAMB could crank with NOASB. NOASB could not finesse arrangements like GAMB. GAMB displayed their versatility. They are well rounded…SWAC Watts & Power with MEAC Balance Symphonic Sound and Finesse! Also, NOASB is NOT Southern U. SU is versatile and CAN play musical arrangements with the best of them…then slap you with power arrangements. NOASB seems to thrive cranking. GAMB can do both and SU can do both! Great Battle! When NOASB get some trumpets, tubas, and upgrade the arrangements LOOK OUT…BUT GAMB ain’t going nowhere AND if you are from Georgia you already know GA HISTORICALLY has ALWAYS had the best high school bands in the country along with New Orleans and Miami. Memphis, Alabama, and North Carolina has some HS Bands to, but ATL from the 90’s to present has been a force! Just like St. Aug, Edna Karr, Walker and all those N.O. Bands been the standard so has ATL (too many name) BUT The Old Washington High, McNair, Douglas High, Mays, Stephenson, Southwest Dekalb, Miller Grove, etc. Miami had some heat too. ATL been here. GAMB is just a manifestation of this rich history!

I'm from Houston. Old school Willowridge to be exact. Let me say this: I SAW all those older N.O. high school bands. They were smaller versions of NOASB today. But overall soundwise, those old school GA bands were better for overall sound and use of fundamentals. Nobody could match N.O. level energy standing still except us, Dallas Carter, Pine Bluff, and old school Lake Charles Washington Marion and Vicksburg.

Nola is baritone and mellophone heavy and they did not need all those drummers. Their drum section is almost as big as the horn section. There were times in the battle the summers were almost drowning out the band. I would've had 8-10 snares and cymbals 4-5 tenors and bass drums. Get more trumpets and play your parts and reduce the number of baritone mellos and definitely the drum section

NOASB NEVER plays SU book. Whenever NOASB plays an SU, TxSU, Dega or New Orleans high school arrangement that means that it’s from someone from New Orleans who arranged for that school. Usually in that case they they’re also currently or was once an NOASB director. All it is is Paying homage to the talent in our city and showcasing our talented strangers. And it’s usually only 2-6 songs like that every year. I see no problem with that.

For those wondering NOASB had 33/34 trumpets and GAMB had 45 trumpets. NOASB finally took an L. They needed more trumpets, more tubas, less drummers for a better balanced sound. And no one is talking about the fact that GAMB used an old trick that southern uses. Whenever southern comes across a band that matches or greater in power like JSU or Dega is some years they defeat them with musicality. They will pull out a technically proficient arrangement like Beyond, welcome to the jungle, and run them to death. GAMB’s arrangers got them the W too because NOASB had 0 answer for some of those arrangements. A good battle, NOASB still did a great job. They went out fighting now they can get better next year.
