Hey rockstars,
Efficiently Natural and I teamed up to bring you this video in which I try out her banding technique on my long 4c natural hair. Efficiently Natural takes a no-nonsense approach to her hair, which is how she's managed to retain the length she has. She's keen on stretching and this is just one of the techniques she uses to do this. Click on the link above to see her interpretation of my 10-minute braid out method!

I use 100% silk ribbon and because it's ribbon it looks cute enough to wear out lol. I would keep it banded in two pigtails for the week and then wash. It's a very good protective style because you aren't touching your hair at all, even before bed.

Love both of you ladies hair :-) The banding method works really well at stretching hair but for those of us with a slightly looser curl pattern, it can virtually eliminate curls. btw, be chatty all you like. It's your channel and people who subscribe (like me) should be doing so because they like you and your presentations. Those who don't can kick rocks

Thank you Doll! Ah, I didn't know that banding did that to looser curls. I have so much more to learn about it. I think I'll do as one commenter suggested and use ribbons instead. And thank you! I appreciate that! I want to be engaging to long time subscribers as well as first time viewers and I know that rambling can put people off so I think balance is key. I'm aiming for that instead of total scripting.

Thank you, In one night of watching your videos I'm starting to appreciate finger detangling as well as stretching my hair. Working on the length, but not losing hair due to improper techniques. Luv your spirit and energy.

try out some double sided elastic from a fabric/craft store or try out out some satin ribbon. both are nicer to the strands than those elastic hair bands and they can be the length you want. i band my hair kinda like the girl you talked about in your video, those def helped.

Naturally High you are doing banding but in her video she is african threading they look similar however they are different. Still love the video by the way.And if you do african threading you will not experience as much breakage or none at all.

Wow, you like System Of A Down? Have you heard of Tool? You should give them a listen, especially their older stuff if you are into heavier stuff. I thought I had recognized some of the songs from your different videos. Anyways, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for your video about loving the in between stages of twists. I've been doing a "process" of my own that involved heavy usage of scarves in between hairdos or just wearing my hair in a puff at the top of my head. My hair is extremely 4C (if that is a thing) and I was contemplating locs for about 2 years but I couldn't bring myself to it. Up until that video of yours, I had never heard of clumping and didn't really think of it as a style. I just did another somewhat big chop a few months back so my hair is kinda short but your methods are working on my short hair. I am looking forward to the day when my hair grows longer than my shoulders (that always seemed to be where my hair stopped growing). Anyways, I decided to go natural years ago when (because of being cheap AND lazy) I bought an expired relaxer and slathered it ALL THROUGHOUT my hair and not just the roots....well my hair fell out and I was left with a short Afro. I asked my dad what he thought about me not relaxing my hair and I was surprised by his answer...he was all for it! He always LOVED long hair and was not too happy with me when he thought I broke off all my hair on purpose when I first started combing my own hair (but I didn't know what I was doing...😂). Anyways, to wrap this up, I wish he was here to see how long my hair is going to get with your methods. I can just feel my hair growing as I write this! Your styles are so low maintenance and it would work perfectly with my lifestyle. Sorry this was so long. I don't usually comment but I felt you needed to know that you have really helped this girl with island heritage that is a first generation USA citizen who knew nothing about how to take care of my hair properly. Thanks again Asha!

Hi, since you tried the banding once in this video, have you since tried it again using the elastic? If so, did you experience the breakage you did, when you used the rubber bands? KZbin recommended this video. Although old, it came it just the right time, because I'm wearing a twist out and I need to maintain it at nights, without having to retwist my entire head of hair.

Try double-sided elastic; craft or sewing stores should have them. You can make your own bands any length and they are much gentler on the hair: thecraftingchicks.com/how-to-make-elastic-hair-ties/

Just curious, how often do you wear your hair loose versus in a protective style?
@NaturallyHigh
@NaturallyHigh 7 жыл бұрын
Great question. This is usually season-dependent. If it's warm, then I wear my hair out more often (1 week/2 months). In the winter, I hardly wear it out.

Sensible as it does elongate the curl pattern! Good that this technique could translate to a looser hair texture. :)
