With regards to the bhp an ecu reflash takes away the power restricted first three gears and gives you an extra 20 horses. I love mine, the centre of gravity is really low and it feels really flickable. I went for this over the FJR 1300 which felt cramped as like yourself I'm a big fella. Love the review, about the best I've seen.

I'm a big fella (6'2'', 240 lbs) and I changed my super tenere for an FJR1300. The super tenere is uncivilized, the engine makes excessive noise, you have to climb on and off each time, and the engine isn't that great really. I haven't even test driven the FJR. I'm getting it on tuesday.

@@fakeappellation7343 The Missenden Flyer recently put out a good review of the FJR1300, it will certainly have loads more power. The only thing he did say was his legs were tucked in a reasonably tight position on the FJR.

Fake appellation the FJR is amazing, I still crave it as the engine is just sublime, maybe one day. The S10 suits my needs and I can ride 400 miles in a day and feel great at the end. I'm sure you will love the FJR. Safe riding.

@@fakeappellation7343 I certainly would disagree that the Super Tenere has an "uncivilised" engine. My 2017 bike is very smooth indeed with none of the high frequency buzz that you can get from a straight 4. I have ridden the FJR on several occasions and yes, I liked it very much indeed. I just find my Super Tenere is comfortable for my 6'2" frame and is easy to ride on whatever tarmac roads that I choose to ride. Still, you pays your money and takes your choice, enjoy your FJR

Before I got mine, I didn't think I was the type of person to ride adventure bikes but I live in a very rural area and the roads are very rough for miles around and I needed an upgrade from my enduro bike and wanted something that could handle a lot of miles. I had a chance to ride one and wasn't sure but another one came up for sale a few hours away from me and a friend took me to see it and after a short test ride I bought it and rode it home. That was nearly a month ago and I've just put 500 miles on it in the last two days. It's one of the best bikes I've owned.

I’ve got one of these along with the MT10. I had a BMW and thought I’d go with Yamaha reliability after a few issues with the Beemer. Awesome touring bike. Smoother engine than the flat twin. It’s getting on in years styling wise but it reminds me of a 79 series Landcruiser which is function over form. If I lived in Europe I’d probably have a GS but since I live in Australia I went for the absolute reliability of Yamaha. Fuel economy of these bikes is amazing. Electric suspension is great when you’ve got it and the roads turn bad.

When needed to cover miles, 280 miles at a stretch is no problem. My wife, who typically likes to stop at 80 miles, finds the pillion accommodations fine for almost 200 miles. Having owned ktm, BMW, and currently a Ducati, the S10 is my choice for cross country or longer trips. Significantly more reliability and much longer service intervals are more important to me than keyless ignition, color screens, and electric windshields.

"T" mode stands for 'tour' and "S" is 'sport'. In tour mode the output is dumbed down. Next time take it out of T (granny mode) and ride the bloody thing like a man and feel the 'grunt' that you're whingeing about it not having.

Thanks for your insight, my channel I ride how I want thanks. Grunt, I'm afraid its outgunned by the the GS on power, torque, and lower weight FACT. Anyway thanks for calling by the channel, always good to get feedback.
@chaychanna
@chaychanna 5 жыл бұрын
Banditmanuk sure it’s your channel and you can ride any way you like. And yes the GS is much more powerful. That’s not the point and it never was about comparing the ST to the GS. It’s just a bit daft to state that the bike doesn’t have much grunt when you’re riding it in a throttled back mode, which is what “T” mode is. It’s not supposed to have grunt in T mode - that’s the whole point of T mode. I can handle criticism of the bike and can even add some of my own. It’s unfounded criticism, or criticism based on ignorance, which irks.

Great honest review! I don't know what Yamaha are thinking sometimes....talk about shooting yourselves in the foot! To only offer this bike in white or black is ridiculous IMO. The black is the one to go for by the way. Also, I'm not sure if it's my internet speed or my (lack of) internet skills, but, I've tried to 'configure' a couple of bikes on there site and can never get to a final price.... I have no trouble with BMW or Triumph??.....If I was taller I'd get me a Tenere 700 on the reviews alone. I like Yamaha....I've had a couple.... but the switch gear, and the 'clocks' are way behind the competition, and look the something out of the '70's and '80's.... and while they are cheaper (better value??) when you start adding the necessary 'extra's...not as much as you first think.

Thanks for calling by Paul. Even if I really, really liked this bike I couldn't buy it with that paint scheme, hated it. Hi, I saw this at Yamaha dealers last week, I was having a service on my tracer, I'm booking in for a test ride on the tracer 900GT next week. As a 6'2 guy I like the high seat settings on the tracer900, I did sit on the MT10 and thought the seat is just to small, same with the MT09, both lower than the tracer700 @835mm. Dont you find that bike more comfortable than the MT10?
@Banditmanuk
@Banditmanuk 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Julian, think I preferred the Tracer GT over the Super Tenere. I did take one of the first GTs in the country out a while back. There is much hate in the comments section for the music to cover the wind noise (no in helmet microphone on that ride) kzbin.info/www/bejne/epOagnaPesecqcU I did find myself sliding forward on the Tracer I tried but overall it's a fabulous bike, loads more practical than my MT10 if I'm honest, probably quicker and more agile than my former Versys 1000. The Tracer GT is the bike I probably should own given the amount of miles and touring I do, trouble is I'm addicted to the insane power of the MT10 and unlike most folks I do love the comfort of that seat....... sometimes you just gel with a bike, its ergos and even its flaws like its massive thirst.

Some dealers are selling these for 10495 brand new in 2020 that is a bargain. You can’t really compare it to a GS at that price. Did you get any buffeting with the screen? My tracer 900gt is terrible, with wind buffet, now interested in super ten.
@Banditmanuk
@Banditmanuk 4 жыл бұрын
Quite correct, at 10495 that is a bargain. I have previously ridden the Tracer GT and got buffering same to a certain extent with the Super Ten. I'm so tall at 6ft 3 I find it very difficult to find any bike with a screen that doesn't buffer me, hence why I ride a naked MT10. The only screen that ever worked well for me on a Versys was a Givi Airflow aftermarket screen, worked fantastic but looked weird I would buy the Super ten over a GS if I was looking to do proper distance touring. I would certainly trust Yam reliability (hope your Tracer has been reliable)
