All those who said the green bike is a Yamaha XJ650 are very close; it's an XJ650 rolling chassis with an XJ750 engine. I know this because it's my bike, which I've had for fifteen years. It came with that engine which fitted straight in as the 650 and 750 engines are very similar. There are various other mods to make the bike more practical and reliable, too, like the headlight which works well. You are not the first to be puzzled! 😊

Yes Kove are Chinese....not sure if they will take off here, typical case of the bikes being pretty capable but even at the ABR show they had no demo bikes and they said I can only ride one at my nearest dealer which is in Gloucester! I'm not so sure they are going to take off. BSA have done well in many areas but have let themselves and their loyal following down. If they are not careful they will not be able to get the hole they are in and will start a slippery slope. As Carol said and I agree, the trade in market has fallen on most bikes BUT BSAs again have burnt some bridges and they don't seem to be doing anything to pull it back. As I said in my review, I like the way they ride but everything pends on the distributer, and they are not doing enough at the moment in my opinion.

Bugger! I had intended to go to that. Anyway, you made it much better viewing, than I could have done and I just sat at home! Thanks for the mention of my old Royal Star. Regarding the Hesketh, I went to the launch of the V1000 and all I can remember about it was how bad it was. I'd either got a brand new GS1000 or GSX1100 at the time. In comparison, the engine was rough, the brakes were wooden and the gearbox nearly broke you ankle trying to change gear and it was too heavy. Can't think why it didn't sell? I do hope that very few people are suckered by these Chinese bikes. Looks are one thing, but quality, real performance and super reliability are so much more than just what you see. Look at the current problems hitting KTM? Yet another super video Rich, so thank you. You're getting quite good at this aren't you?
@Banditmanuk23 күн бұрын
@RichardASK Thanks Richard. We both would have preferred your Royal Star compared to the new BSA offerings. I think young Lord Hesketh had money to burn at least until he threw loads at F1. The GSX 1100 was a great engine, still is really. Wasn't the Bandit 1200 a similar engine, ultra reliable and would take a performance tune without exploding. The Chinese have a lot to prove in reliability and service back up. I won't be buying but I don't think we can dismiss them. Don't know about getting good Richard.
