Hey thanks for the message Joe. If you ever get a chance to build one, and you use many circles in your projects, it can be handy to have around the shop. Thanks again!

So, why laminate and contact cement instead of PVA or pre-laminated stock? Seems like more cost IMHO. I appreciate your video and learned a couple of things. Thank you.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rex, good question. I have used melamine for previous shop jigs and found it didn't hold up. The surface coating is very thin on some of these pre-laminated products. I prefer to use Wilsonart brand laminate and contact cement. Of course the jig will work fine without a laminated surface at all, but it makes for a nice durable jig. Take care. Thanks for commenting.

Your circle cutting jig is excellent!!! Would you consider a adjustability screws between your magnets as to adjust for the different blade saw sizes? Bob
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob, You could certainly try it. I'm not really sure what it would do other than limit the slot depth. Cutting accuracy would be the same. The one thing I might do different is to limit the length of the dado for the track. If you keep that dado 1/4" or more away from the blade slot, it would give you zero clearance cuts. Best

Love this idea, however my track did not come with a T-track insert that you mounted the scale on. I think I'm just going to make a t-track filler out of wood (3 pieces and glue it together) and insert it and mount the ruler on that. About the only thing I can think of to do.

Thanks Keith, That sounds like it might work. If not, you might have to order the combination track from Woodcraft. Powertec tape measure kits fit in that ok. Good luck!

What was the source for the steel washers that fit the 1/2" magnets? Great jig, love it.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Douglas, Thanks for the nice comment. The magnets are from Rockler. If you don't want to use the steel washers that hold the magnets in place, you could just epoxy magnets into drilled holes. Either would work fine. Best

When positioning the board to cut, how do you line up for that 8 in? And do you just hammer it down onto the jig? Thanks.
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker

These jigs can seem confusing until you build one. Once it's on front of you, it's all quite clear. Basically just drill a shallow hole on the bottom of your workpiece. Then loosen the sliding centerpoint with a screwdriver and position it as needed. Then just tighten the screw and cut the circle. Works great! Best

I wish I had the money to buy any of that stuff,,. I manage with a coronet imp bandsaw (1950-ish) and a 12-inch x 12-inch piece of old plywood with 6 peg holes,, but hey, don't feel sorry for me, I'm happy with my lot, I wouldn't have room in the garage anyway, I have a small lathe, the bandsaw, scroll saw and a grinder, and in the word of the song "who could ask for anything more",,. Regards Alf

Well, a sharp new blade will make any bandsaw cut better. Keep a good blade on it and see if you can a few more years out of the saw.

I've been looking around for a good circle cutting jog. I really like your design. Can you give us the dimensions and distances you used for the miter bar and the combination t-slot?
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Van, it's 18" square overall. Miter bar located 6-3/4" from left edge (as you use the jig). Center of T-track of combo track is 6-3/4" from back edge of the jig. Good luck

Hi Kevin, You can build the circle cutting jig in a day. I used quick set epoxy to mount the track, so nothing really to hold you up. It's a tough little jig and should last a lifetime. Best

Would this work if you wanted to cut angles on circles also
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker
@TheThoughtfulWoodworker Жыл бұрын
I guess I'm not really sure what you mean by cutting angles on circles. Basically, the jig is just for cutting accurate circles. I suppose if you found a way to fix the rotation, you could use it for other purposes like cutting angles. Best of luck.

@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker hello, I have a question and maybe you can help me. I also bought laguna fusion 2 and I have Diablo blade 90th but I don't know if the riffing knife is suitable. The seller in Australia told me that they don't have thinner riffing knife and I noticed that the diablo blade is thinner than the standard laguna blade. Note: i wasn’t sure which tablesaw I should buy but, I bought the F2 because I watched your videos Thank you
