Tom, my daughter heard you talking just now, and she said that Red Square in Moscow is very beautiful, and it's right beside the Kremlin, and it also has Lenin's body on display. She is also fascinated by Russia, and information about it, AND, she has a crush/love, for a young man from Russia! He grew up in Russia, but was born in Armenia, he came to America when he was 12, and he is the same age as her, he's just about two months behind her. Maybe if we are lucky, and blessed enough to meet yall the next time you're in our town, (San Diego), you (Tom), can talk to my daughter, and exchange notes! 😊

Tiran's Bass lines on "Captain and Me" album are a masterpiece.....I mean every song on the album. Listen with headphones and you will know. And for Bass players, this album is a Bass Master class in itself. Is there an Emmy award for Bass lines?

It’s crazily the only one of their LPs I own! I’m gonna do it! Thanks for that tip. Bass is the down beat for this chick. Love it.

I am from UK but lived in the US for a while in the 70s and loved the Doobies then and they are even better now. But for all the focus on Tom and Pat, John McFee is the standout for me. He is an incredible musician.

It's good to hear props given to Tiran Porter and to the departed drummers.

In 1977 we finally got the doobies to Florence Alabama. On the way to the show we found out Tommy would not be there and Michael Macdonald was fiiling in. All of us were saying, Mike WHO!

During the warm up, the beach balls were flying around. Suddenly the lights dimed , and Tiran,s heavy voice rumbled , ladies and gentlemen, we have found out that under covrer agents are in the crowd so if any of you have any drugs, Please throw them onto the stage for your safety You could see panic beginning, then Tiran said athe the doobie Brothers will take care of them!! Everyone launched a curtain of Dope onto the stage, Michael Mcdonald did the best he could to fill in for Tommy. The concert was incredible. The place was packed. The crowd wouldn't let up and go home., THERE WERE 8 ENCORES. PEOPLE WERENT LEEAVING, Patrick kept saying this has to be the last one , we have to be somewhere else for our next gig! In the paper the next day. Pat said that was an incredible experience with perfect acoustics for FLOWERS HALL . I DOUBT ANY OF US WERE IN CLASS THE NEXT DAY AMD I HAD BECOME A RABID DOOBIES👌 FAN FOR LIFE IM 63 NOW And still love the doobies!

I am British, but the Doobies have been my go to band when I am depressed and can't see my way forward. I have been listening to them since I was 18, I am now a 62 year old grandmother and I am still listening.

I like how real and humble Tom is. I dont know about Patrick, he seems cagey and cleverly guarded. (he's very serious, slightly intimidating). There seems to be an established unspoken understanding between Tom and Pat, (a pecking order), of which Pat is clearly the one in control. And Tom seems like the younger one, even though he's technically a few months older. Tom doesn't seem to mind, and I guess is comfortable with this, as it was probably developed over many years. I can imagine that they are the best of friends, and always have each other's back.

I bust out laughing, when Pat said that they were clapping for Mick Jagger! Sometimes his sarcasm is funny!

3.30.... fantastic to hear Pat's acknowledgement of Tiran's contributions. Totally underrated yet one of the most authentic, melodic and skillful bass players

Also Tiran's high harmony vocals were a huge part of their sound - they sound completely different without him.

Just what the music was. It got better than they knew. I miss Porter. The best bass player period. Being a drummer I got my bass player to watch, listen listen to him. It made him so good, he got poached. He came back. Had to slow down though. Definitely made us better. Thank you guys. Rock on!!

I want to comment that I had just joined the Marine Corps and heard on the radio "What a fool believes". Holy shit! The song touched very deep feelings in me. I am a combat veteran in Desert Storm and in moments of great tension the music of Doobie Brothers always brought peace to my spirit. I want to congratulate the band and very especially Patrick Simmons, a great guitarist.

I have their demo album, Introducing the Doobie Brothers recorded in 1970. I hear it’s rare, songs include by yourself, coke can changes, blue jay, make it easy, runaround ways, etc. It’s on pickwick label

This band is legendary, see them if you can. The new album is great. Incredible musicians, fanning the flames of Rock-N-Roll for decades. The Doobie Brothers are essential listening. I only wish that they played either 'Echoes Of Love' or 'I Can Read Your Mind' during the current live Tour.

At 16:32, Tom is saying that the best songs just write themselves. But I prefer songs that musician artists really do seem to mean, in a profound and powerful way, like maybe Sammy Hagar, (not to name drop), but just saying, because you can tell that he really means what he's singing. Like he's talking from experience.

You saved me...I was at the edge and your music brought me back. I am still waiting for my book and package. Irks me that everyone else has gotten theirs, but the Fan Club Members have all shared their opinions of it. It's all about the music...

Speaking of the Stones and opening acts...it was either '69 or '70 that the Stones played in Ft. Collins Colorado at a relatively small college basketball arena and the opening act was some guy that most of the audience had never heard of at the time...B.B. King, LOL.
