if one more person tells me minnie is also a songwriter istg.... don't turn this into fanwars, I was just pointing out that skz are known for their puns/wordplay in their songwriting,and since she talked about that in the video, i mentioned this. Nothing i wrote disputed anything about Minnie and her talents!

In terms of knowing the language, Bang Chan wins, BUT Minnie definitely wins in terms of who is most impressive with their Korean skills. Even tho Chan went to Korea when he was a pre-teen he was still Korean and had contact with the language at home, and he moved to Korea 5 years before Minnie, so he has more exposure. Minnie came from a completely different language and went to Korea in her late teens without knowing anything
@justmyedits65966 ай бұрын
True. Minnie is also a 90s kid, meaning the internet was a new thing. Kpop wasn't big back in Thailand then and Kpop fans were bullied and not a thing since Tpop was a thing. Minnie had absolutely no Korean exposure compared to Thai kids nowadays where Kpop and Kdrama is everywhere so a lot of kids learning Korea can sound almost native in terms of pronounciation from online exposure

I used to see many Spanish and Chinese praising her accent in the comment section. I think Minnie really has a way with learning new languages and imitating native speaker’s accent. She used to study at an international school too. That explained
@mn05096 ай бұрын
In fact, Minnie has never studied at an international school in her life. She studied in normal Thai schools (a famous boarding school) until grade 11 when she went to Korea for idol training
@thuydinh43776 ай бұрын
@@mn0509 my mistake. Idk why i remembered it as an international school. Maybe because she used to talk about her school life, majoring in English and she also took the driver’s license test in English cause she felt more confident than in Korean which surprised me.

Yay! I think idiomatic expressions are extremely challenging as a Korean learner, but I felt encouraged by the clip from 2 Kids Room (Bang Chan/Seungmin). I don't know Minnie well, but I will definitely take your advice and play closer attention to mining slang from idols. This is a fun series, TTMIK!
@AmbiCahira6 ай бұрын
I love using idols for listening practice because there's SO MUCH footage. When I learned English with friends and other shows it helped to have familiarity with the actors and their voices and speech patterns and with idols that do livestreams and TV shows and interviews and everything else I get that similar reliability. I'm grateful for the hard work that they do.

Maybe felix instead of bangchan would have been more relevant? We saw his evolution in his process of learning Korean (same as bangchan: he is Korean, grew up in Australia, but didn’t speak Korean with his family) he had to learn Korean with the members and we could see that during the survival show they had. I'm curious to know if he sounds like a native now?

When I got into kpop I became really interested in how quickly a lot of artists seem to learn and become conversational in Korean and other languages. I come from a background where we learned a language in a school because we had to and it seemed very difficult and you were either good at languages or bad. Since discovering kpop I've realised we just didn't have the motivation to learn or good learning styles. I've rediscovered a love for languages alongside kpop and people like Bang Chan and Felix who have studied languages to high fluency (Bang Chan is also fairly fluent in Japanese) has been really inspiring. Thank you for all the tips- like where to learn safe slang :)

I think I would go for polyglot. I am currently living in Italy but my backgrounds are not Italian, I am actually from the Philippines. Sometimes, I struggle a lot when speaking in Italian, although I have been living since birth, because I get so influenced by my family's language. With my family I have to speak tagalog, meanwhile outside I speak italian, so it is a bit difficult to get a correct wording of a sentence, because I just go with the feeling, which is not good sometimes. I might look like a native speaker, but I am sure that sometimes, being able to learn a language fully, without any background that might influence my speaking, would be better.
