Great review! This is the most detailed description of the H9i’s sound signature I’ve found - it’s very helpful (I’m quite picky when it comes to sound). I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC as well.

To make sure proximity sensor works well you need to keep your headphones flat when you switch on until the light goes out, only then place them on your head, the proximity sensor should work perfectly then, a lot of people don’t realise this and switch them on when they’re already on their head for example, that’ll mean the proximity sensor isn’t set properly and will cause you problems.

Now this is a high quality review! I was contemplating whether I should buy this or the 3rd gen but that doesn't have a removable battery so I settled with these. I just ordered them and can't wait to try them. I have had the Beoplay H6s for 6 years now and they are great, however they lack noise cancelling. The build looks almost identical to the H6s, but it will be interesting to see how the sound compares.

How the shit do you only have 30 subs? This video is superb. Great review. On question, though: what codecs were you using on each? Sony has their own LDAC and that makes a difference.
@michaelcolley5272
@michaelcolley5272 6 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the compliment :) The LDAC support on the sony is nice but I really wanted to change the equalizer settings, In order to do so you have to disable the "High Quality mode" which was disappointing to me. The amount of bass it has is a little too much for my liking. As always, sound is very subjective. Thank you for watching !

Great review! Your observations are on point, unlike most reviewers out there. The sound quality takes a hit when noise cancelling is engaged, but, to me, they still sound better than Sony and Bose. Also, they are very revealing for a wireless consumer headset, which I think is the reason for what can be looked on as "problematic" sibilance - meaning while the 4000-8000Hz area get's nasty on Genesis's "Duke" or "Genesis" albums, it sounds wonderful on Dire Straits' "Brothers in Arms" or The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights". I`m curious to hear if the h9 3gen manage to be more forgiving, while maintaining the quality and honest presentation of the h9i.

Is it weird that I own both the B&W PX and the B&O H9I and love them both? H9I is my daily, but the clarity and accuracy of the PX are incredible. For wireless that is lol.

Just came across this video tonight. Watched this on my phone with the h9I headset I've had for about three months now, lol. I've always coveted bang and olufsen sound equipment since I was about 13 or 14. Saw a bookshelf stereo system that had this proximity sensor glass panel that slid open when you reached towards it to put in a CD or touch buttons. Damn thing was $2000 at sharper image and this was back around the early 90's. I'm definitely not gainfully employed, but always dreamed from afar. These are probably the only b and o equipment I'll ever afford, and they were worth every penny. Only thing I don't like is the equalizer. Can't stand it. Searched for some different apps and came across an 11 band equalizer that makes these things unreal. Only downside for said app is that it is a music Player as well and it's a huge pain in the ass to organize music files to. Especially albums that you rip from CD to computer then move to phone. Other than that, I have found ear candy heaven.

Just received my pair! I am pretty happy! Sound with ANC off is pretty much the same as my H6s. Clarity definitely takes a hit with ANC on, which is a bit of a bummer, but it is not terrible. As for the EQ, I am still making up mind. The pinching action for the soundstage honestly sounded terrible to me. Extremely artificial and not really usable. Right now I have the EQ somewhere between Warm and Relaxed. Especially with vocals high pitched notes tend to be slightly piercing. Does anyone know what is the best setting to get rid of that? Other than that, I have absolutely not issues with comfort, and build is phenomenal too. So, while no bluetooth headphone is perfect, this seems to be a pretty good choice overall.

How would you compare these to the B&W P7 wireless? I hate the PX....similarly as you stated, they feel like someone is crushing your head. I had to buy used P7 wireless because they are now discontinued. I don't care for the Bose QC's. The Sennheiser PXC550 sounds good, but they feel cheap. I can wear the P7 wireless all day, as long as the ambient temperature isn't too hot.

Hey I’m in need of advise! I’m looking for a headset/gaming headset that has “dual connections”, meaning I can use it on my Windows PC and connect to my iPhone at the same time (for calls and maybe music), is there even such thing?! I’m currently looking towards Sennheiser HD1, Sennheiser PXC 550 and ASUS Strix Fusion 700. Let me know what you think and any advise is very appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know about the Bose but the Sony is quite easy to open. So if the battery wear out before the rest of the headphone it is actually relatively easy to replace. It even sits in a nice holder. However finding a replacement may be an issue. But finding a (low power) LiPo which you can solder in should be no problem.

I really love everything about H9i except one thing that almost no-one mentions and I'm very curious why... These are quiet. Max volume is really not enough for me, bose in compare are about 25-30% louder... that's why I am going to return them. 580$ - that's the price in Poland. Too much for a headphones that need some loudness booster software. Or maybe there is so other way around...? This is really huge thing for me since I use over-ear wireless headphones mostly for sports and they need to bang! I love everything about my new h9i except of that and im really torn apart if should return them. Is it really regular?

Is there are teardown somewhere or can anybody confirm the quality of the headphone jack? I use my headphones predominantly wired. I am asking because on the ANC headphone I used to have the jack broke off after about a couple dozen of uses. First I got a replacement because I still had warranty. Then it broke off again. I tore it apart and noticed that the jack was only soldered on the surface with pads only 1mm wide. It had to break eventually. I will only buy another headphone if I get the confirmation that the quality of the mount of the jack is decent.
