Welcome back to Masala Chai Media. In this video we will guide you about one of the popular fort in Bangalore. That is none other than Bangalore fort which is also known as Tipu Sultan's fort. Fact is that, it was first built by Kempegowda and later on it was modified by Tipu Sultan.
Bangalore Fort began in 1537 as a mud fort. The builder was Kempe Gowda I, a vassal of the Vijaynagar Empire and the founder of Bangalore. Hyder Ali in 1761 replaced the mud fort with a stone fort and it was further improved by his son Tipu Sultan in the late 18th century. It was damaged during an Anglo-Mysore war in 1791. It still remains a good example of 18th-century military fortification. The army of the British East India Company, led by Lord Cornwallis on 21 March 1791 captured the fort in the siege of Bangalore during the Third Mysore War (1790-1792). At the time the fort was a stronghold for Tipu Sultan. Today, the fort's Delhi gate, on Krishnarajendra Road, and two bastions are the primary remains of the fort. A marble plaque commemorates the spot where the British breached fort's wall, leading to its capture. The old fort area also includes Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, and his armoury. The fort has provided the setting for the treasure hunt in the book Riddle of the Seventh Stone.

Brought back many childhood memories . There still are many places which are hidden from public view main because of illegal activities that occurs. I remember my father showing me the suranga marga that is present somewhere interior. I was under the impression that this fort was closed and no entry was given. Thanks 👍 will make sure to pass on this history lesson to my kids

Correction, Hyder Ali father Fateh was a general under nawab of carnatic who was in charge of rocket artillery division, Hyder Ali was also a commander who declared himself sultan because of mysore kingdom had weak king, he took complete control of mysore army and tippu sultan was the first one to introduce metal cylinder rockets but he didn't introduce rocket technology, rocket technology anicent one Introduced during medieval period of China. Don't say freedom fighter as well, if I try to take over a land from you , you will fight for the land. That's how tippu sultan and British fight was. Even if ailen had tried to take over the land, as a sultan tippu would have fought them.
