Lovebites’ world tour starts in June this year, so hopefully that should get them some well deserved further recognition. I’m seeing them in London in just a few weeks. Also, Japan is incredibly well provided for all female rock/metal bands, Band Maid being the best known, along with Aldious, Nemophila, Mary’s Blood, Trident, Lonesome Blue, Hanabie, Bridear, Cyntia and dozens of others, all are super talented.

No other all female band since The Gogos? Well, then be surprised what Japan has to offer you 🙂 They have tons of them, especially in the rock and metal scene and you have to stand out to make it to the top there. So most of them have a "theme", like the white dresses of Lovebites. But all of that doesn't matter if you don't have the skills and the musicianship and this is where Lovebites really shines. Absolutely incredibly good musicians and writers. Another really special one in that vein is Band-Maid, more on the hard rock side. So maybe you'll give them a listen, too. Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂

Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about them: The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings. Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023. This year in June LOVEBITES‘ first world tour starts in Europe. In September they will play their biggest headline show ever in Tokyo. Thanks for your reaction. Some people claim that the label and management are not working well and that is why LOVEBITES is not known in the West. It is not true. I will write a few facts. So that you can imagine the big picture. Information that bassist Miha had created the first female Japanese metal supergroup appeared in the Japanese press in early summer 2016. In May 2017, the first EP of LOVEBITES was released, in October 2017, the first Album was released. Already in November 2017, LOVEBITES gave concerts outside of Japan (3 concerts in London). In June 2018 (a year after the release of their debut EP) LOVEBITES received the GOLDEN GODS Award from Metal Hammer (in London). I advise you to find and read what famous bands and musicians received the GOLDEN GODS of Metal Hammer. You will see a lot of celebrities musicians and bands. The first GOLDEN GODS Awards took place in 2003. How many Japanese bands have received GOLDEN GODS since this prestigious Award existed? Personally, I know only one Japanese band that received the GOLDEN GODS (in 2015). In 2018 LOVEBITES performed at major international rock festivals (in Japan, Germany and UK) : - LOVEBITES performed on the Japan leg of the Warped Tour (the largest traveling music festival in the US). - LOVEBITES performed at the world's largest annual heavy music festival Wacken Open Air. For reference: in 2018, LOVEBITES became the first all-female Japanese band to perform at 'Wacken' in the history of this festival (since 1990). - Bloodstock Open Air (UK). LOVEBITES performed on the festival's main stage(Ronnie James Dio Stage). JUDAS PRIEST and KAMELOT also performed on this stage in 2018. I may be wrong, but LOVEBITES is the only Japanese band to be honored to perform at these festivals TWO years after their formation. At the end of 2018, LOVEBITES completed their first solo European Tour, thanks to an agreement between the band's management and the leading European live music agency 'X-ray Touring', which collaborates with more than 400 bands and artists. LOVEBITES played concerts in the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK. During the Tour, interviews were organized for European music media (including TV channels). Some of these interviews can be found on YT. And this is TWO years after the formation of LOVEBITES and ONE year after the release of their first EP! How many bands (not only Japanese) are there that have achieved such results in two years after their creation (starting from scratch)? And if you take into account the fact that LOVEBITES is a Japanese band ? Given that 99% of metal fans in the west are not interested in Japanese metal. In 2019 LOVEBITES performed with ARCH ENEMY in China (2 concerts) . During the summer 2019 they performed at major rock festivals in the UK (Download Festival), Spain (Download Festival) and Belgium (Graspop Metal Meeting). The performance of LOVEBITES at the Download Festival in Donington (UK) was named by the organizers of the festival and Metal Hammer magazine as one of the highlights of the festival! At the end of 2019, a joint LOVEBITES Tour (special guest) with DRAGONFORCE took place (11 concerts in the UK) and a performance of LOVEBITES as an opening act for HALESTORM (concert in Tokyo). * In addition to this, Asami (Asami - lead vocals) also appeared on stage to sing with HALESTORM at Download Festival (Japan, March 2019) and Download Festival (UK, June 2019) In January 2020, LOVEBITES performed in Singapore. The Covid-19 pandemic (2020-2022) ruined all plans for LOVEBITES. At that time, the band was rapidly gaining momentum. But due to the pandemic, LOVEBITES was forced to limit her activities. In 2021, the leader of the band, Miho (bass), leaves the band and Miyako (brunette, guitar) gives birth to a baby. Asami (lead vocals) gives birth to a baby in the summer of 2022. More about the “bad work” of management and team of LOVEBITES: in June 2024, LOVEBITES will perform on 'Mainstage 01' of the major Hellfest Open Air festival (Clisson, France, 4 days, 6 scenes). Thanks to "bad" management, LOVEBITES are in good company - MEGADETH, METALLICA, MACHINE HEAD, AVENGED SEVENFOLD will also perform at 'Mainstage 01' this festival. I could cite other facts confirming that management is doing a lot to promote LOVEBITES in the international arena. But my comment is already very long.

There are several all-female metal bands all over the world, but in Japan, where Lovebites are from, the all-female hard rock and metal scene is just on another level! The female metal scene is bursting at the seams over there. I can count on one hand the number of really elite western female metal bands, but it would take pages to list all the elite level Japanese female metal bands! Lovebites, Band-Maid, Nemophila, Hanabie, Aldious, Fate Gear, Bridear, and Babymetal are a good start.

How have I not heard of this band?......the very question the Wolfpack (fan base) asks all the time. Insanely talented petite musicians who wear their femininity proudly in heels and gowns but turn into metal goddesses on stage. Best new band to come a long in quite a while. Very diverse, Speed, Power, Thrash, Prog, Hard Rock, Acoustic, Piano, classical influences and even ballet dance steps. They may look like little Disney princesses but they play, especially LIVE, like no other band out there today. No filler songs, they are either epic or masterpieces or both.

Congratulations, you just found the most talented metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. Please help spread the word, their label does very little to promote them outside of Asia (hence why you never heard of them) and it is because of social media such as your reaction video right here that is how they have gotten to where they are internationally, and theu very much deserve ti be a big name in the Metal genere.

LOVEBITES' songs incorporate various metal genres, and the lyrics and songs have many different aspects, so the white costume makes sense. The main principles of the band presented by Miho, the founder and first bassist of LOVEBITES, are as follows. ①Heavy metal (basic policy) ②All English lyrics (strategy for global expansion) ③White costumes (Most metal bands wear black costumes, and if these short girls wore black costumes, they would be hidden, so they wear white costumes to contrast and stand out.) ④High heels (to compensate for short height) Miho also thought about the visual effects on stage. LoveBites is the only Japanese band signed to a western world label, which happens to be the same label that Nightwish, Sabaton, and Jinjer are signed to: Nuclear Blast Records, plus was one of the first bands to play at Wacken Open Air. Not only have they toured with and opened for Dragonforce, but Herman Li said himself that if they tour again, it will be Dragonforce OPENING for LoveBites. Now, I'll say that COVID did't help with their breaking through around the world, but they definitely are known, especially as they are heading out on their first world tour. Additionally, I can't remember when any Japanese guitarist was featured at NAMM.

Herman Lee is on a level even lower than Midori Yi Miyako, and their level is far from virtuoso. Touring with Dragonforce is more a cause for sadness than pride.

There are many more all-female metal bands today, not only from Japan (they have tons of them). If you like it heavy try Nemophila (also from Japan) or Nervosa from Brazil. Also Burning Witches from Switzerland is worth a listening.
