Midori (Mad Max guitarist) has won two silver medals in Japanese bodybuilding competitions. She started pumping iron during the pandemic because she has always admired the beauty of athletes and just wanted to see how far she could take it herself. Age: 35 (36 in June). Fami (the bassist) is not a schoolgirl anymore, but is the youngest member of the band at 21 (22 on June 1st). She is with the band since 2022 and is the result of an audition process after former bassist and founding Member Miho quit the band in 2021. In older videos the bassist is Miho. They dress in white because Miho was tired of going on stage in typical black. What you heard in the back was a keyboard, played by the dark-haired guitarist Miyako. Miyako is a classical pianist (they all can play piano, though) who also does solo piano concerts. She and Midori took up guitar when they started university; they both have a university-level music education. Age: 34. Married, has a little daughter born in 2021. The "opera singer", Asami, is actually not an opera singer but used to be an R&B singer in bar bands and a rock background singer. When the band came together in 2016, they asked her to join on the strength of a demo that she had sent to their record company. (I think. At least that is the version of the story I know.) Age: Don't know. Also married with little daughter born in 2022. Miyako and Asami seem to be relatively close friends. They each write about a third of Lovebites' material, the last third is written by Mao, former metal keyboardist (male) and composer and occasional session musician for several Japanese metal bands. The lyrics are written by Asami. The drummer, Haruna, is the shortest, at 4'8''. (They're all not exactly tall: Asami 4'9'', Midori 4'10'', I think Miyako is 5'1'' and Fami 5'2'' or thereabouts.) Nevertheless she double-kicks for two hours straight. Nickname: "Little Big Engine". Others will supply more details. They have a Wikipedia article too.

Miyako 4/5; Asami 7/10; Haruna 12/30 With songwriting, now Asami all lyrics, but Miho wrote both lyrics & music (with Mao) to her songs, the only one to do so until 2021 when Asami began contributing to music with Mao. One exception, Epilogue in 2018. With Miho, 1/3 Miho & Mao on music; 1/2 Miyako on music; remainder Mao on music. First I noticed with Asami contributing music is "Paranoia" and I am still amazed at that song! All songs arranged by the band. From Knockin' At Heaven's Gate captions on JPU Video On Demand they talk of heights: Just add an inch to each except Fami. Haruna truly is a phenomenon! She trained as a Ballet Dancer before becoming a singer. Before Lovebites she was a Jazz and R&B singer. Midori, Guitar. Only took up guitar at around 20 years. She is the blond 'Amazon Warrior'. She is a body builder and has scored highly in competitions. Miyako, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. The one with long black hair. Trained as a classical pianist from age 3, only taking up the guitar in her late teens, Self taught on guitar. Composes much of the bands music, often incorporating classical music themes. Fami, Bass Guitar. She is the baby of the band, joining in 2022 at age 20, replacing Miho, the original Bassist and co founder who left in 2021 for personal reasons. Fami has her own YT channel that has near 700,000 subs. Check out 'Alien Alien' bass cover for some astonishing bass playing from a then school girl. Haruna, Drums, co founder with Miho. Haruna and Miho played in an earlier band Destrose, which broke up in 2015, Haruna and Miho forming Lovebites the following year. In 2019 Lovebites toured in the UK with Dragon Force, on a memorable occasion the 'missing sixth member' appeared onstage in the form of Herman Li of Dragon Force in a white dress 😄 First Japanese all female metal band to perform at the Wacken Open Air metal festival in Germany. A few recommendations for further listening. Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Winds Of Transylvania (written for a crazy Japanese Anime Series) M.D.O. , Frozen Serenade, Swan Song with a Chopin introduction played on piano by Miyako, Edge Of The World, Epilogue. If they don't like a band, fine, that is their prerogative, just go away and listen to what you like, don't try to spoil things and make trouble for others. I have been into rock and metal since the 1960's, raised on bands like The Yardbirds, The Who and Led Zep. 75 this year, Lovebites have given me a new lease of life reminding me of the bands I went to see in the 70's and 80's. I'm going to see them play at the New Cross in London next month, really excited about it, as much as I was in the past going to see bands like Iron Maiden and Rush. As Lemmy said, 'If you think you're too old to rock, you probably are' 😄

They are Power-Thrash-Classic Metal Band. Asami the vocalist will shout at the end of the shows with "We are Lovebites, and we play Heavy Metal". Best band I have ever listened to(IMO) This Band is amazing with their studio sound but even better live!! PS there is a Vile Troll in the comments, uses many (18 to 20) Troll fake accounts to cause division and hate among other band fans, The account i see in the comments is "BearerOfTheWord" there are many more that will try to harass reactors with multiple account to try to get you to not listen to this band, I've been collecting data on this for a few months now.

Welcome to the Wolfpack. Named after the Grammy winning song Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm. Lead singer Asami has joined Lzzy and Halestorm (at download 2019) to perform that song. Some songs do lean towards power metal, and some towards thrash, but they will tell you "We Play Heavy Metal". Guitarist Midori does indeed work out as you speculated. She got into competition bodybuilding during their hiatus (restrictions and new bassist search). Original bassist Miho (left in 2021) and the drummer Haruna formed the band in 2016. Miyako and Midori shred with the best of them. New bassist Fami is seen here(joined Oct '22). The song is the first single , and title track, from last years 4th album, the first with Fami. This and the 2nd single .Stand and Deliver(Shoot 'em Down) , both have bass intros, basically a ' here's our new bassist , this is what she can do' kind of intros. They are awesome live too. For their thrash side, and to meet Miho, try "Break the Wall" or "Thunder Vengeance" from the Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020 concert. Also from that show, "Swan Song" which has a Chopin piano intro played by Miyako, a classically trained pianist. When you do get to Band Maid, do use the subtitles, they sing a lot in Japanese. Suggest the song "Hate?" (official live video). And a 3rd all female metal band from Japan, Nemophila, try "Oiran" official live.

Oh my, you have opened the floodgates. The world of Japanese female metal bands is mindblowing. You started with perhaps the most talented metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22 (You just watched it). Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Watching those ladies actually play everything you just heard, priceless! I won't suggest anything, because it's all great, all ten or more years of their repertoire. It's more of a question of, pre-covid, or post covid. The band was a little darker before covid, and much happier on stage, after covid. This is probably due to the balance of smiles, on stage, changing with the addition of smiley, the bass player, Fami-san. The original bassist is the queen of headbanging, the new one is like sunshine hitting your face! Post covid is anything Knockin At Heavens gate I or II. Enjoy! Wolfpack forever!

Lovebites ( believe it or not ) are an infinitely better band LIVE - something they have in common with the MANY Japanese all female Rock / Metal bands that are worth checking out . Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about them: The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings. Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. The strings that you heard were synthesized backing track. They regularly use backing tracks but never cheat you. What you hear on the sound tracks are what they play. They use backing tracks only for "backing" as an extra layer, just like hiring supporting musicians. They compose their songs and arrange them as well. The main composer Miyako the dark haired guitarist is actually a classic pianist. I suppose she makes backing tracks. The other girls some times sing as well as gang chorus, and Miyako is the second singer. She occasionally harmonaizes with the vocalist Asami.

We.come to Lovebites! I'd argue that they are the best metal band in the world right now, and Miyako and Midori are one of the best guitar duos of all time. They're all world class, with Haruna on drums, Fami on bass, and Asami on vocals. They all do sing on some tracks. Backup vocals and Empty Daydream has beautiful vocal harmonies. As good as they are in studio though, live is where they shine. They are so much better live. I recommend some live performances from them. You really can't go wrong. Maybe Holy War live from 2020 if you'd like some power metal, or Break the Wall if you'd like some thrash (both of these would have their original bassist Miho). That's just the tip of the iceberg too. They have some legitimate masterpieces.

Sounds like you are about to dive into the girl-metal maelstrom, so here is a crib sheet. It will take two comments to fit it all in. Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. This song is typical LOVEBITES already, but still nothing but their "business card" yet. Melodic Speed Metal ("Soldier stands solitarily", "Dissonance", "Winds of Transsylvania") is their definite forte, with all engines running at full speed, and Haruna (drummer) driving them relentlessly across the Metal highway with 250 mph, double bass kick included. This band is just _incredible_ . As a life-long Metalhead shaped by Iron Maiden and Helloween (and Metallica at times), I thought that I knew it all. Then I got to know LOVEBITES by reactions like yours about a year ago, and I knew that I am experiencing a new era of Metal. Therefore I can understand your blown-away'ness absolutely. And wait until you experience other songs from them, where they put in Classical piano music ("Swan Song", "Lost in the garden") or Miayko (long black hair) plays guitar chords and keyboard at the same time for some moments ("Burden of time"). _Face-melting_ . They own any stage at any time, and let it look easy. They shred while smiling charmingly. "Outrageous" towards many other Metal bands. 😁😉 LOVEBITES consist of five world-class musicians with two musical _prodigies_ among them (Miyako/guitar and Fami/bass) and are about to conquer the world of Metal fans. (Their current World Tour lies ahead.) Six consecutive studio albums, with _not one_ weak song. All (of their songs) convincing, and even many definite Metal _masterpieces_ among them. Operatic? Nah, Asami doesn't have operatic training, and she doesn't sound like actual opera. She's just belting and doing a damn good job of it. LOVEBITES is a power and thrash metal band. Others will try to convince you that they're more than that by making up silly terms like "eclectic metal" because they blend in elements of other genres and subgenres, but every band does that that to a greater or lesser extent. LOVEBITES is a great band of highly-skilled, highly-beautiful Japanese women who, judging by their social media, currently appear to be gearing up for a new release. They have four albums, three EPs, one single, and nine live releases (eight if you count the two most recent ones as one release since they're part one and part two). There's only one LB song I don't like, but I've never seen someone mention it, much less react to it, so I feel safe saying that whatever you choose for your next LOVEBITES video, you're going to like it.

You've met the metal queens. Midori, the muscular co lead guitarist has competed in Miss Fitness competitions in Japan and place in the top 5. Japan has or has had a multitude talented all female rock and metal bands besides Lovebites and Band-Maid. Bands such as - Aldious, Bridear, Destrose, East of Eden, Hagane, Mary's Blood, Nemophila, Trident to name a few.

Well, even it’s an MV, you’ve just watched greatness. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile proficient musicians. Their main influences are the great metal bands of the past but they have been developing their own and unique style. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just seven years. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. Miyako (black hair guitarist) is also a concert level classical pianist. Miho (ex bassist and founder of the band) said in an interview that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. Some people say that they are breaking the walls of stereotypes in the metal scene. Their live performances are outstanding. My next recommendation is “Set the world on fire” (live). Band-Maid and Nemophila are other excellent all-female Japanese rock bands.

Yeah, I am usually not a huge fan of CC's, they tend to be wrong half of the time, but in this case, they can be useful, because even though Asami sings in english, her accent is quite thick. They are awesome though, and can do sweet ballad-ish songs, break neck fast power metal, and face melting thrash metal. If you know your 80's/90's metal, it's quite obvious who their influences are. Their MV's are always cool, but live is where they truly shine. I like this song a lot, but it's not my favorite song by them by any stretch, that should tell you something about the talent level they're at. I am very partial to their more thrashy stuff, like Break the Wall, Set the World On Fire, The Hammer of Wrath, Dissonance, and M.D.O. But it's all good, other favorites include the very Iron Maiden-esque The Crusade, and the wholesome (live) We the United. Miyako, the dark haired guitarist, is a world class pianist, which you'll get a taste of, if you take a look at the live version of Swan Song, with the chopin intro, and her piano cover of Helloween's Eagle Fly Free. As I understand it, Helloween is Haruna's (the drummer) favorite band. 4:05 you forgot the fifth member, the new addition Fami, shredding on the bass. She replaced Miho, one of the founders, a while ago, and always seems to have a smile from ear to ear. I think she's quite a bit younger than the other four women, around 20. I think the rest are closer to 30. Oh, and how many bands can say that they have two world class lead guitarists? Midori and Miyako, affectionally known as M&M, can duel with eachother for days, as you'll see if you take a look at the live version of Scream For Me. Want more examples of why you should never judge a book by its cover? Nemophila, Band-Maid, Aldious, Bridear, and Mary's Blood are all worth a look and listen, and incidentally, they're all from Japan.

I don't even like power metal! But mix in some thrash and undeniable talent, and they've become a Top 5 J-rock/J-metal band for me! Add Stand and Deliver to your Love Bites to do list, please! Number 1 on my list is Band Maid, so definitely check them out. I recommend Domination live or Hate? live.

@MrsRealistic they are just the tip of the J-rock iceberg. For the first time in my life, every rock/metal band that I like and listen to are Japanese women.. In fact, I stopped listening to rock and metal a long time ago. These Japanese groups brought me back. I was more a punk kind of guy. Guess who my new favorite punk band is? Japanese women called Otoboke Beaver. More punk than Green Day or Blink 182 ever was. And yes, they can even rap, too! XG has the best female rapline in the biz! Don't know what's going on in Japan, but the ladies be killing it!

Just as a little headsup when it comes to rock bands and metal bands: the words "bass" and "bass guitar" are usually used interchangeably. These bands typically have one or two guitars, one bass and drums plus a vocalist of course (who may of course also be one of the instrumentalists).
