In Bangladesh the country was ruled by a Tyrant for last one decade and there was no democracy. Killing, torture, abduction etc were very common which compelled people to rise against the Tyrant. Our people to people contact should increase and build mutual trust

The blockade was not imposed by India. It was sections of Nepali population who imposed the blockade because they were unhappy the way they were being treated. Nepali politicians unnecessarily blamed India for it.

@@1uamrit You make a good point. India cannot claim that Nepali people are part of our family too, and also take actions that benefit Indian political goals while punishing common people of Nepal. India has emerged from foreign rule after centuries, and has a bit of an extreme reaction whenever it perceives any country in the region letting in a neo-colonial power, whether it is the US or China. Divide and rule between the countries of this region was how the subcontinent was colonized. In my view, the people of India have only goodwill for the people of Nepal.

Why do you say India-Pakistan divide is because of ideology? Its because an Islamic Pakistan can't sleep easy with a predominantly Hindu India next door. It may sound harsh but the truth is Pakistan isnt bothered by our success (or lack of it), its by our sheer existence.

India should learn from what happening in Bangladesh. India shouldn’t support one specific dictator party or specific dictator leader like Sheikh Hasina and Awami League rather then should support people of the specific country. Although India didn’t learn and lost all of neighbouring countries support. India shouldn’t export BJP, RSS agenda to neighbouring country, it’s Won't work others countries. If India speaks for the Hindus it is bad. But it is ok when you people declare Islam as your state religion. You can reduce your Hindu population and that is good. As a Bangladeshi, I feel that Indian policymakers have two gaps of understanding or problems. Firstly, an attitude of dominance which stems from the Chanakya principle that pushes you to make your neighbouring countries eternally dependent on you. This principle encourages India's undue interference in the domestic affairs of the neighbouring countries, which the people of those countries consider as threats to their sovereignty. Unfortunately, the Indian people do not agree that the interferences are unjustified. The Indians in general consider that India has the right to do anything to ensure its security, no matter if it jeopardises the sovereignty of the neighbouring countries. With Bangladesh, the Indians tend to play the politics of gratitude for the support during the liberation war of 1971. Of course, we Bangladeshis are grateful to India for the support and assistance during our liberation war. But that also benefited India, a win win situation for both. Could India afford today if there were two Pakistans on two sides and nuclear wireheads are pointed from its eastern flank as well? What else we have to pay and how long we have to pay to show the gratitude to India. We have given India road, railways, and river transit across our landmass and in return, we have not achieved anything from India. We put up with undue tariff and non-tariff barriers imposed by India that hinders our access to Indian market (although Indian products enjoy unhindered flow to our market). We tolerate the unilateral withdrawal of water by India from 54 trans-boundary rivers including the Teesta and the Ganges. We also put up with the killing of our citizens in the borders. And finally, India has been overtly supporting the most unpopular Awamileague government for the last 15 years which is in power by rigging the elections and oppressing the opposition with the most brutal manner. India is unwaveringly supporting a puppet government which is rampantly corrupt and incredibly oppressive. Installing the puppet Hasina government India has exerted its dominance against us which have made our people extremely agitated. Secondly, the Indian policymakers seem to be apprehensive about the rise of Islamists which is also futile. As a Bangladeshi, I can assure that the radical Islamists do not have any strong foothold in Bangladesh. The Jamat Islami (the Indian policy makers are so obsessed with this party) do not have more than 5 percent of the total votes. They could not possess more than 3 seats in any parliament election. Yet the Indian media is so vociferous about the rise of that party. Indian media is also making commotions on the oppression against the minorities after the fall of Hasina. This is absolutely non-sensical. Followed by the fall of Hasina, the houses of Awamileague leaders were targeted and vandalised. The Hindus those who were Awamileague Ministers, MPs, leaders and activists and cohorts of Awami oppression for the last 15 years were the victims of those attacks. Now, if you enjoy the fruits of power for the 15 years you must pay for it after the fall of the dictatorial rule. In my locality, a Hindu awamileague leader was accused of quite a few gang rapes and at one incident he along with his gang had snatched a Muslim lady from her husband and brutally raped. The incident happened 5 years earlier. No one in the locality could raise voice against him. Because he would kill them. However, after the fall of Hasina he fled. The agitated mob burned down his house and business. But Indian media gave it a communal colour. This sounds so ridiculous and self-contradictory that the party in power of India is inclined to extreme Hindutva and India opposes the rise of any such party in other countries. As a common man, I also oppose the identity politics based on religion. But you cannot indulge double-standard. I can say that we are ready to talk to our Indian brothers and sisters and initiate mutual exchange of opinions/dialogues. But whenever anything goes against India, or there is any criticism of India we are tagged as Madrasa educated extremists by Indians although I am a university teacher of Bangladesh graduated from the US.

@rabeldusting9166 2 ай бұрын
@@shivmohan99681 Thank you very much Dear Brother. This is the first time that my comment has been greeted with calm, sober and rational reaction by any Indian. Brother, I can assure you that the reasons of the depletion of Hindu population in Bangladesh are predominantly economic and political. Religion is not that much connected. You see that India, as a much larger country offers a greener economic pasture for the poor people living in the remote areas of Bangladesh and the remote areas are close to the borders with India (if you look at the map you will easily understand that). This is one of the reasons for which the Hindus and Muslims living adjacent to the Indo-Bangladesh borders migrate to India. Moreover, hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis are migrating to Europe, Australia, Canada, and the US for better lives among which a significant segment of Hindu people are there. Now the educated Muslims are leaving the country, which is counted, why not the Hindus? Most of my Hindu friends have got settled in Canada who never in their lives were discriminated in the universities or work places. But they sought better lives in Europe which is justified. Second reason is political. The Hindu minority population (those who are involved in politics) in Bangladesh mostly (you can say 95%)support Awamileague. Awamileague has been playing the minority card since the beginning and Indian policy makers are deceived by that narrative. If you come to Bangladesh you will see that the land of the poor Hindus are grabbed by the Awamileague leaders and the wretched Hindus are driven to India. If you want I can give you paper clippings of all those. Please read the case of Mr. Benzir, the ex-IG of Bangladesh Police. This man acted as a pillar to keep Awamileague in power by unleashing oppression against the opposition parties. He successfully kept performing his job for last 15 years and in exchange he was given the licence to do corrupt practices at his sweet will. In his village, he built a royal resort grabbing the lands of thousands of Hindu farmers. Please check the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/q57GfKuDnpaZiNU. However, the Awamileague always pushes forward that BNP-Jamat (the opposition and islamic parties) do these atrocities and oppressions and Indian media and policy-makers are beguiled by that narrative. The propaganda machinary of Awamileague are much stronger than those of other parties. I do not understand why the Indians buy Awamileague narrative. Oppressing Hindus are politically a stigma for other parties as they are already alleged for that. They would internationally remain unsupported for that crime. The US now understands that but India does not realise that. It keeps supporting Awamileague's vote rigging and power holding with force. India does not want to understand the pulse of the common Bangladeshis for which the anger of Bangladeshis are concentrated to India. You will find the reflection of it in the cricket matches. Before 2014, things were not like that. I have shed lights on the major causes of Hindu migration which happen in general. Yet, there are some exceptional things, I will not deny. I won't say that Bangladesh is an ideal place for the minorities. But I can say that in schools, colleges, universities, engineering universities, medical universities and civil services you will find hindu students' access much higher compared to the percentage of population. My best friend is a Hindu who has access to my family and so I have at his family. In our cabinet 3 power ministers (Land, food and health) were Hindus. In parliament, significant representation of Hindus are there. But this cannot be denied that there are victim games played as well. This is a peculiar human psychology. Some of the Hindus love to play victim game. Let me tell you a recent incident. Rahul Ananda, a prominent and very popular signer of Bangladesh lived at a house close to 32 Dhanmondi, the house of Hasina, the former PM of Bangladesh. After her fall, the house was burned down and the fire spread across Rahul's house as well. His house caught fire, all his belongings including the musical instruments got burned. That was definitely a spill over effect. But after that, Rahul came out with a story that he and his family were driven out of his house and the house was in arson. I felt so shocked and ashamed. Later, the fact was revealed that it was not an intentional arsoning, rather it was a spill over effect. Please check the link en.prothomalo.com/entertainment/music/sopwf9jmz1 Brother, I would love to answer to any questions you ask related to Bangladesh.

I never came across a Hindu illegal Bangladeshi. I also saw many in Chennai and Kerala where I travel frequently. Your logic that Hindus are migrating, therefore their population is reducing sounds illogical as most illegals are Bangladeshi Muslims and Rohingyas. All Indian Metros are flooded with them. As an Indian I have no issues with Bangladesh except this rampant illegal migration. Please stop this and you will gain our respect. If India tries to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, it will continue to get rejected by them. Indians (mainly the Hindus from the Hindi heartland): 1 Need to overcome their insecurities and victim complex. No one cares if you are religious or not. 2 Need to realize that Partition is a done deal. There will be no Akhand Bharat. 3 Need to realize that rights are given to all Indian citizens irrespective of religions. The idea that "we" are "giving rights" to "them" does not exist here. You are not giving anything to me or anyone else. The rights are guaranteed by the Constitution, not by you. I do not need your permission to live here - whether I am a Hindu or Muslim or Christian or whether I speak Hindi or not etc are not relevant. 4 Need to keep in mind that other countries also have sovereignty and nationalism. You cannot casually talk about "expanding chicken neck", "partitioning Bangaldesh into two" etc and at the same time lose your mind when Nepal shows some extra Indian land as part of their territory in their currency notes. Bangladesh was not created out of anti-India sentiment; you're mistaken. It was carved out of Pakistan in 1971 because the experiment of creating a country based solely on religion failed, which couldn't reconcile its religious foundation with the cultural and linguistic differences between East and West Pakistan. Marginalization, economic disparities, political exclusion, and the repression of Bengali identity led to a strong push for independence, resulting in the formation of Bangladesh.

For a change the analysis by SG was realistic and pragmatic. Two points - In his first term Modi ji treated India to be his personal fiefdom and through his misplaced personal charisma thought that he would handle the foreign relations. He miserably failed. It was only then he appointed Jaishankar ji as the FM. - Towards the end, in the video, stating that Modi ji energized the path of neighbour first laid by Vajpayee ji postulated and Dr Manmohan Singh ji embraced, is not correct. Modi ji used it to project his own image both nationally and internationally. Foreign powers read it well and used it to their benefit by falsely boosting Modi Ji's ego. Else, the video was very well presented and full of hard facts

You need to offer something in exchange of obedience. India needs to realize that despite being relatively well-off in the region, it’s still a poor country. It simply doesn’t not have the capacity. If India tries to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, it will continue to get rejected by them. Indians (mainly the Hindus from the Hindi heartland) need to 1 Overcome their insecurities and victim complex. 2 Realize that Partition is a done deal. There will be no Akhand Bharat. 3 Realize that rights are given to all Indian citizens irrespective of religions. The idea that "Hindus (us) are "giving rights to them (non Hindus)" does not exist here. The rights are guaranteed by the Constitution, not by you or me. I do not need your permission to live in India - whether I am a Hindu or Muslim or Christian or whether I speak Hindi or not etc are not relevant. 4 Keep in mind that other countries also have sovereignty and nationalism. You cannot casually talk about "expanding chicken neck", "partitioning Bangladesh into two" etc and at the same time lose your mind when Nepal shows some extra Indian land as part of their territory in their currency notes. If you do not respect them, they will not respect you. 5 Stop bringing the cow belt's religious tensions into the domestic issues of other nations. Stop making everything into a religious issue between Hindus and non-Hindus.

India faced almost the same dilemma during Bangladesh liberation struggle. there was hostility towards Hindus mainly instigated by pro (West)Pakistan elements. More than any one else Indira Gandhi was aware of this. But she feigned ignorance and tactfully handled the particular situation. That is statecraft. That she was not a narrow minded or bigoted was the factor. Shekhar Gupat is aware of this important reality more than any one else. Today country has an inept leadership constrained by prejudices and hatred towards a group of its won people which motivate its policies. After all foreign policy is extension of internal policy. Bangladeshis are observing how the ruling establishment is treating their fellow religionists here. They are watching media churning out macular nationalism berating them for attacking' Hindus. The fact is that the media all controlled by by ruling establishment can only worsen the situation with no understanding the fact Yunus can practically do nothing to stop. Military intervention? I am not entitled to call any one fool Still I think only fools can even think of a military action. The immediate priority should be for the government ask the "patriotic" media to hold back their pace. Patiently wait for events to settle down. The only thing government and controlled media doing is berating the opposition for what is happening as if they can do any thing

Add to this the extreme nature of social media discourse and you get a permanently inflammable situation in the neighborhood, that is ready to ignite at any moment. Unfortunately i don't see that changing. I do think that there is an opportunity for us to make a sort of regional aspirational goal of say a viksit BIMSTEC like we have for viksit Bharat. If we want to get to say a 25 trillion dollar economy by 2047 , we should express a vision for a 5 trillion dollar Bangladesh joining forces and talk about ways we can help each other achieve such a goal. We need to get out of this negative mindset where we only worry about migrants or terrorist groups etc, from Bangladesh. Our popular imagination can be moved to a positive sum relationship with immense economic possibilities put at the center.

@@ebadurrahman7848 For the sake of argument, let us assume that what you have stated is true. If it is true, what is your conclusion from that observation? I know what you are implying, but why don't you state it explicitly? Are you aware of the terrible atrocities that the small Yazidi community in Iraq had to suffer? Who perpetrated those inhumane acts? Are you aware of the terrible abuse that young women were subjected to in the town of Rotherham in the United Kingdom? Who perpetrated those inhumane acts? Are you aware of the terrible atrocities that were perpetrated upon the Hazaras in Afghanistan? Who perpetrated those inhumane acts? Do I need to go on? If communal violence is high in India, there is ample reason for that!

As a policy, Sri Lanka never gets involved in the internal affairs of other countries. The reason is that we respect all the countries of the world. Trust them. India is the only country in the world that has broken Sri Lanka's trust. In 2022, India stood for the agitators of Sri Lanka, and in 2024, India stood for the former leader of Bangladesh. They are confirming again and again that India is always a country with double policy. Sri Lankans have a good understanding of India. They never trust the Indian government and are friendly with the common Indian people. Therefore, Sri Lankans do not give any opportunity to the Indian government to act beyond their limits. Sri Lankan politicians know very well that if the Indian government is given a chance in Sri Lanka, they will definitely lose in the next election. Anytime the Sinhalese reject India, not only India's security but also its economy will collapse. The common people of India do not know this and the Government of India knows it very well.

The bigger problem looming on the horizon is a shift in Russia's attitude towards India. It will only force India to either become self sufficient , especially in military equipment and indeed in other technologies, or continue to rely even greatly on the west for its needs. It has been obvious and hardly needs to mentioned that our 5 trillion economy dream will be substantially affected by this change.

The separation of an Islamic state of Pakistan from the India , with 2 pieces, one in the east and one in the west, was at the behest of the Muslims who fought for it. The others , majority Hindus included, did not fight for an India devoid of Muslims. The Indian Majority have never sought the exit of the Muslims and its the other way around from our neighbors, Pakistan and Bangladesh. We in India don't have the HINDU WAY of secularism but do have the MINORITY VOTE BANK APPEASEMENT MODEL OF SECULARISM played by the Congress and its allies to snatch the power that has been eluding them for long. What these united opposition plans for the Country is to FIGHT UNITED, to climb the THRONE by defeating the present NDA Govt with Modiji as its head and once achieved they shall start fighting within them self, united in opposing each other, as to who shall sit on the THRONE. What ever MODI does, nowadays , is utilized by the media to show their support to the INDI alliance to be there in the mainstream.

It doesn’t matter to us whether it's the BJP or Congress in power; what truly matters is India’s foreign policy. We don’t harbor any hatred toward the Indian people-there’s no reason for that. Our concerns are with India’s foreign policy. Lasting solutions will only come when India adopts a policy that fosters mutual respect and understanding in our relationship. Instead of supporting pro-India candidates; interfering in our internal affairs, and turning our country into a deep state, it would be better to respect our sovereignty.
