Where we live in the US, all calls like these are routed through the sheriffs or police departments and law enforcement is dispatched to follow up. When my daughter was 3 1/2 she learned in pre-school about 911 and called them unbeknownst to me, and they called back. Of course I apologized and explained as best I could what happened, but I also got a knock on the door 10 minutes later with the sheriff’s deputy checking up to make sure everything was really okay. They were very nice about it but also let me know that there were hefty fines if it became an issue. Needless to say, the bedroom extension was disconnected and we talked about 911 several times to make sure it didn’t happen again! 😳

@amandasnider26443 жыл бұрын
It broke my heart so much. Reminded me so much of my grandma after she suddenly had a stroke which later caused an anyerism. She was 90. It was incredibly hard on me because I was quite close with her. She lived like a woman 15 years younger than she was until suddenly, she wasn't. She had a previous minor stroke before so I had faith she could pull through this one but the surgeons messed up and dislodged some plaque and it caused an anyerism in her brain. That was crushing because it killed parts of her brain. One day she was laughing and full of life, the next time I saw her she didn't recognize us, she couldn't eat on her own, she couldn't talk or walk. It was made worse by the fact that she couldn't wear her dentures, glasses or hearing aids so she also looked different. She had these restrictive gloves on her hands to keep her from pulling out her tubes. All we could do was hold her hand, brush her hair and try to talk or sing to her. Sometimes she'll squeeze our hands and sometimes it did mean something but most of the time it didn't and she eventually wasted away.

I think it’s because of 2 major factors: 1) humans in the western world and some other countries have had it pretty good for some years now. A lot of the people/kids pranking emergency services have had zero real experience with human suffering and death. The ww2 generation would have never dreamed of hoaxing the people who are there to help those in real need. 2) it could also be from having negligent parents. When I was young, I knew my parents would have grounded me for the entire summer for something like that, if not longer. It kept me from making dumb impulsive decisions on the reg. If I didnt fear the consequence and also didn’t understand the weight of that action, I very well might have done something similar.

Ya know something... I think the older generation of people could better understand the difference in the level of care they need. If you’re bleeding or bruised, get a bandaid or some ice and let the body time to heal itself. The youth of today don’t realize the costs involved in healthcare in both dollars and staffing needed somewhere else having to take care of a boo boo. I’m in Canada, and I’ve been to the hospital a couple times in the last two three years, and to visit patients, I see a disturbing trend with older immigrants coming into hospital for any little thing...cuz it’s free. This too is a massive drain and it bothers me to see that. Growing up we only saw the hospital if you were truly dying. Good thing theirs triage to assess the level of need vs want.

The last one...I lost it when the paramedic said she wished she could wave a magic wand. So sad. Heartbreaking.

When I was a kid, we made prank calls to people, but never 911! I would have gotten in so much trouble!

They made them tea! In America we can't even get them to arrive sometimes! We can't even get a ibuprofen without a $300 bill! God forbid we get in the ambulance!

The last patient brought back a memory my nephew was an extreme alcoholic.... And he tried to quit on his own and it killed him. I believe he was in his late thirties maybe early forties. Not quite sure. I remember I was leaving the state and I did not want to drive my pickup truck A thousand Miles by myself so my brother-in-law offer to buy the truck for from me for my son-in-law I mean my nephew... Not too long after he had the truck he wrecked nine cars in a parking lot he was under the influence of alcohol...he wasn't allowed to drive for I don't know how long but that did not stop him maybe for a while but it did not stop him from returning to drinking. I think once you take drug abuse and alcohol abuse beyond your childhood those drugs become an escape from reality if your reality is unhappy unloved and abusive. God bless those who have a good heart and kindness and understanding towards people and do not monsterize them.

Anyone else from the US get severe anxiety when it shows them driving on the wrong side of the road?! I swear I panic almost everytime thinking they are about to be in a head on collision!!!! Also, Nina is beyond amazing. This whole scene is exactly why I went into this field even though it's so heartbreaking. But wow, the power of eye contact at eye level, a kind word and the human touch is beyond incredible. Bless you Nina! This is how all health care workers should be and act. And yes, when he touched her cheek I bawled for a solid hour. Every human deserves compassion, kindness, respect, dignity, honor, and love in their end days and their most vulnorable, sick moments. Also, if you hoax call an emergency service, sorry not sorry but FUCK YOU!

Yes, the parents of those kids doing hoax calls need a lesson or maybe a fine so they take teaching their kids seriously.

Amazes me that people prank call or even call for something insignificant that you couldve easily taken yourself to hospital for. Maybe it's just that I'm a stubborn jackass that doesnt want to inconvenience anyone xD

To the brother who kicked his habit, please don’t walk away from your brother because you are afraid you might be weakened. Remember, you both went through the same thing as children, he needs you now more then anything. Don’t walk away, if you have to have one of your own supporters be with you as you walk your own brother through this. He obviously needs guidance. ❤
