It’s a fun conceit, but it is very contrived - for example they haven’t given up their jobs - they’re presenters! I enjoy it for what it is, but it’s a show, don’t listen to the guff about money, budgets, time constraints- they’re part of the show, it’s not about flipping cars to make money, it’s about delivering audiences to advertisers to make money. I can enjoy the show but I’m not kidding myself about what the real business model is.

Paul Brackley (Technical Advisor) and Daniel Allum (Executive Producer) both worked on Wheeler Dealers during the Attaboy days. Please don't bash Mike Brewer (FYI, I was firmly on Edd's side when he left WD). Things went downhill when Discovery became the producers and you can't blame Mike for that as he's just the presenter. This is a strange show. I don’t know why they lie about this pretend business being their new job - the total profits made after the entire series from sales would be about £14 each. The bodging and the short-cuts are a bit scary and the standards of finish are really low. I’ll watch anything about old cars but in my opinion, they could cut the tired and over-used format of having a fake time limit, fake stress and a fake need for profit, and just work on cars without cutting every corner and bodging everything before flogging it on Ebay for £72.50.

My guess is the number plate is worth almost as much as the car, if that guy takes parts of it why would he.. Its hardly a spares car and watching other car resto's it could have had more work done. I have an Astra Bertone 2.2 convertible this year I just want to get it cheaply mot ed and then over the year do a rolling restoration I only paid £350 and it came with a £700 quid private plate which at the time of purchase I was clueless about. But the guy selling tried playing the game by me getting it through mot and then gaining the number plate of the car. On the open market I see really nice well cared for Astra 2.2 and the smaller engine cars but on the odd occasion you see a very low mileage one owner for bigger money.. I have a few other convertibles and they need some work before they end up worse off.. Oh yeah also I've seen a cool looking 1954 Morris Minor just like the one my dad had and it is my dream to possibly purchase it.. however I've already treated myself to my 60th birthday present a 2001 Jaguar 4.0 in Burgundy Its in better condition than my previous 2000 Jaguar 3.2.. Keep up the interesting work..

This is a car where they should consider more than 5 days to get it fixed. At least get the sunroof fixed and get better price

You both missed the icing on the cake on first sight. And that is the number plate. All that car needs is an MOT and that plate could be sold for the thick end of £2,000 and then you have the car to sell on. Or sell the car with an MOT and the plate for £4,500! The buyer did well at £3,200 Nice plate and a realtively cheap car to buy and MOT. Your loss lads!

Sorry for the loss but even selling it in Parts would be more than the meagre 3200 Pound you´ve got for it

thoroughly enjoying the gents' enthusiasm and perseverance (would the Brits say "per-SEV-erance"?) ... can't get over how much Will sounds like Jeremy Irons ... "Crunchy around the edges, and sturdy on the underside," sez Will ("It wouldn't be crunchy if we took the bones out , now, would it?" -- Terry Jones from the Pythons)

The brakes don't work because the accumulators are shot, seized calipers are the last of the problems here.

If it were rust free, I think it might have been worth the extra effort to really do it up.

I am shocked at the state of the bodywork, a rotting Rolls Royce from 1975? So a Mild steel body construction built around superb engineering was the best that could be done at the time?

Went on a BL electrical course at Cowley in 1975 and these bodyshells were stacked outside on stillages with NO protection. Surprised they lasted a year.
