I made this video in response to several requests on how to tune up the Nashville tuning strings. Some folks couldn’t figure out which octaves the strings were supposed to be tuned to. Hope this is helpful.

I'm jumping into the 6 string banjo world; I'll be receiving my Banjo in a few days. I've followed your 6 string banjo videos with great interest and appreciation (there's not much info available for these instruments), so a BIG THANK YOU for sharing all your really helpful knowledge🪕👍🙏🤝 (Strings on order😉)

Good luck on the banjitar adventure. If you are already a guitar player, expect a learning curve. It took me several weeks of playing before I felt like I could get a good tone out of it. I tried banjo picks, guitar finger picks, and finally just settled on bare fingers. It took a while for my right hand to develop a good tone. It was harder that switching from guitar to bass, for example. If you want to hear it in some of my songs, check out my album “Shades of Gray” on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. I use it to double some guitar parts on several songs. open.spotify.com/album/7IueDdQZ7xrXQ5IIwBPFXj

Just as a side note. I've been learning Clawhammer 'Guitar' from Steve Baughman's "The Power of the Claw" DVD over the last few months; and I can clawhammer pretty good now. I'm no Molly Tuttle but is sounds pretty good I reckon. It's a wonderful additional (and very different) technique for playing guitar, and it really didn't take too long to learn once i got the basics got under my fingers. I'm going to see how it sounds on the 6 string Banjo. I enthusiastically recommend the DVD and learning clawhammer (frailing) for 6 strings, it's GREAT FUN!! (btw I'm 65, so old dogs can learn new tricks!! 😉)
