Here’s a tip, if you are serious about bank fishing, get you some nice mid high rubber boots if you’re going to be in that kind of terrain.I’ve been bit by a water moccasin while wading along the bank and they saved me cause he stuck to the rubber boot and it didn’t penetrate past the boot.
@erock49509 ай бұрын
That was a cottonmouth (water moccasin). Glad you didn’t get bit. Enjoy the videos man! Keep up the great work!
@joewiese41749 ай бұрын
It is, but a cute little guy. lol The markings, colors and head shape always give them away. If it had been 72 or more degrees Spencer would have had a lot of trouble, in this temp this guy could bite but it would be considerably slower than when warmer and the snake was to lethargic to do anything else. I have had 100s of run ins with these and timber rattlers, and i prefer running into a rattler or any other snake venomous or not than another one of these. Luckily most of the ones i have ran into were very large. It is the little ones you don't see even when they move. like this one. The bad attitude and willingness to chase ANYTHING! in a cottonmouth is legendary. They are the meanest most bad tempered snake in the east and mid west. The only thing with similar aggression is the Mohave Green rattlesnake, or maybe a sea snake.

I stuffed my tackle box and fishing pole in my book bag and loaded my bike in the trunk of my 88 Taurus when I was a student at Perry High school 1998-99. Big creek and Saylorville had the bike trails around the lakes and Polk City bait shop sold laminated fishing maps. So many walleye spots and I was the only one doing it 😂.

I dont have an e-bike, but I did outfit my mountain bike with 4 pole holders, saddle bags and a spot for a cooler and I stack my tackle bag on top of it. Nothing that a trip to Home Depot or Lowes won't fix in an afternoon. I'd suggest an aftermarket headlight as well that dosent run off the bikes power. I mounted two lights made by Fenix to my frame and swap batteries when needed.

There's a very popular Striper spot a couple hours from me. There's a bike path that runs by most of it. All the hardcore guys use bikes to follow the herring as they make their way. The bike of choice is the old lady tricycle. Storage galore and just hop off when you need to cast. It's been a few years, I'm sure it's loaded with E-bikes these days. Game changer

Bike fishing with a free e-bike- nice! I just got a 500 watt 27.5”ebike a month ago- they’re heavy, but totally a blast. Watch the range while towing, or carrying a lot of gear. Eternal life is free because Christ paid in full at the cross. However, “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved,” (from the Lake of Fire)- Romans 10:9.

Spencer …. Just an FYI ….As a former part time Environmental police officer I had training with the states herpetologist. First, all cotton mouths, ( water moccasins ) from birth to adult have a black horizontal stripe by the eyes. Common errors in wrongly identification is the argument over the “yellow” tail. Both snakes may have that appearance. Copperheads also have a distinct “Hershey kisses “ pattern. The obvious sign is a water moccasin will lift its head up and open its mouth completely hence the name . Coppers usually hiss. Obviously both are venomous. I was not able to make an identification of the snake in the video. If I had to guess based on the video, I would lean water moccasin due to the skin not having a clear distinct pattern. Great video !! Except for the snake. Garter snakes scare me lol.

It might not be the right answer and maybe I just think it helps, but I downsize to 7-8/0 hooks in shallow water. I feel like the smaller gauge wire drives the hook point home a little bit faster for me. I love my 10/0’s but they are for wintertime, bigger baits, and deeper water.

I have always used the polymer knot and never ever did my knots come free. So the polymer knot was second to last as far as coming apart. In may I will have been fishing 54 years. Before Hank Parker invented the polymer knot I did the traditional knot also stayed with never worrying about it failing. So what do you use for your cats!!

I have an Okuma Citrix 364LXa reel with an Okuma Axeon Pro Heavy action that I like a lot. The reels are $98 on Okuma’s website, that price is 50% off for the lefty version (that’s the LX in the model). They don’t have the rods on sale now, but I’m sure you could pair that with an Ugly Stick heavy rod, those are similar to the Axeon rod, if you were trying to go a little more budget friendly. Lots of good options out there that I can’t vouch for, but I really like the Okuma reels.
