The Bank of England is battling core inflation of 4.5% and faces an economy with next to zero growth over the next few years. UK investors are focused on the policy response of the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee as it keeps the cost of borrowing high to cool but hopefully not crash the UK economy and get inflation back under control. Hear our summary of what the MPC says and does and what it means for investors and homeowners in the UK.

Blimey Ramin,I’m paying 2% over £6k a year to St James Place for my Personal Pension, I’m 64 and due to retire in Nov 25. I’ve just become a Premium Member and signed up for some of your Beginner courses,I need to learn some basics, because the long term effects of those costs as I go in to retirement would be drastic. Always enjoy your content and your particular style, especially with Damian. Need to get a grip…

Time line 31.51: reason for UK not growing because majority of public doesn’t know the idea of investing . Majority of people doesn’t know the art of in and out at the right time . Many people either has nil investment or they have invested but don’t know when to get out until the gain became lost. We British people are not financially educated or equipped enough when compare to Asians .

I was a bit surprised to hear Ramin mention it isn't the right time to buy the FTSE when things seem to be improving - that you should buy when everything seems negative. Doesn't fit with his usual message to ignore all the news and invest whenever you can. In danger of saying you should time the market there haha.

is the GPB still part of the fiat currencies? if so then what does the base rate in the US and EU have on the GPB- since the Fed rate seems to be ' stuck' at 5.25-5,5 % because services inflation is still rising and it now appears that reshoring is driving production costs higher.

I give you a glimpse of the difference between us and the Asian world . I am now retired at 41 with house portfolio. I picked up a part time job at tesco for killing time hourly pay £11.02 (£12.02 after end April) . And you know what , I got paid £15per hour when I was a 17 year old tutoring a 13 year in Hong Kong back in 24 years ago !! This is how much a difference between us and Asia .

Ramin often bangs on about tiny differences in the TERs of global tracking ETFs but isn't it time to compare some trailing returns? For example, let's look at SWLD and SWDA. These are almost identical in what they are supposed to do. The TERs are 0.12% and 0.20% and yet 1yr and 3yr trailing returns are almost identical. So does the TER really tell us a huge amount? (SWDA is 10 times the size of SWLD; the buy/sell spread of SWDA is half that of SWLD.)

real inflation "old-school" = deficit / debt. In the US deficit is $1T/100days or $3.5T per year. So the real USA inflation = $3.5T / $34T ~ 10%. Could-be. If true this may imply a crisis brewing going forward in govt. debt markets. I would now watch and see if commodities and tangibles (and anything with intrinsic value) go much higher and inflation continues upward going forward.

I like how you make out that the different Central Banks operate independent of one another. When it could not be clearer that they actually work in concert we each other. Just as of course, a Criminal Cartel would do.

He can be write and still follow each other - the aim is to make decisions based on all information and they do not operate in a vacuum. If you are in a queue and you saw the person in front have his head chopped off, would you use that information or would you step forward?

Globally connected economies have correlated central bank rates, shocker! Anyway, see Japan (in the G7) for a counterexample to your statement.

I really like your content on the financial side but when it come to certain points , I just have to say it . At the last part, you say that we British are creative . Guess what ?! When I was in my Uni in Cardiff , I wanted to write an essay and start the idea that “jobless or no work is a kind of stress and would lead to mental health” . My professor shut me down saying that this idea is stupid . He rejected my idea of people having no job will stress them out and lead to mental health problem. The few years later , Americans published papers on same idea and title ! And few years later COvId period, wah-la !! Jobless people need mental help ! So when you say we British are creative ? I would say that we British more like a herd of sheep than creative .

You highlight that taking inflation into account there has been no real wage growth in the past 16 years, which you refer to as "shocking". In one of your videos a few weeks back, you seemed to suggest that the answer to the UK's economic woes was increased immigration. Do you think that there is any correlation between stagnant wage growth and immigration?

When you say that we are good at services . Let’s say . A nation full with themselves and racists against Asians especially Chinese who are rising up with many of them are educated as multilingual speaking 5+ more languages from eastern to western ones , while we British refuse to learn others . How can we keep ourselves at the top as the greatest service provider ?
