Byakuya's bankai will always be my favorite. The reveal back in the Soul Society arc where he just drops his sword and hundreds rise up behind him while he lectures and calls Ichigo "boy", one of the hardest scenes in the whole series.

Kensei has to be the unluckiest captain ever. Has a knife as a shikai, and connecting iron gloves as a Bankai, only second to Rose. Seeing Shinjis Bankai animated for the first time was amazing (honestly wish Roger Craig Smith could've reprised his role as Shinji as it didn't feel right listening to another VA say the bankais name), Rukias Bankai is a thing of beauty as she takes on the role as Sode no Shirayuki herself

The whole stealing bankais and hollowfied bankais was such a cool idea that was undercooked. TYBW honestly needed to be like twice it's length to flesh out all the ideas and characters Kubo had. All the Quincys in the first invasion got done pretty dirty and I'm pretty confident it's because Kubo had to cut down the story

This video made me wonder if Rukia's bankai was influenced by Ichigo. You can kind of see it with all of the soul reapers that got especially close to Ichigo, actually. The inward focus of wanting to become stronger in order to protect their loved ones, resulting in a bankai that changes little about their surroundings and does not create anything external but greatly enhances the personal capabilities of the individual invoking that bankai.
