Banksy's identity was widely known among early UK graff writers. It's a testament to the respect for the guy, and the people in the scene that his anonymity has been upheld.

@@ernestopiovesan1229 Possible. But one have to recall that Banksy smuggled two of his painting in the Louvre museum in the middle of the day after they spent months analyzing how the guards moved. They chose the only time where there would be an in-between pause between the guard taking lunches and hired a fake gay couple who started to fight at the entrance so the two remaining guards inside the museum had to go there. They found the paintings sticked to the walls with epoxy, two portraits of the Queen with a monkey face that were to well-executed that it took someone who looked closely to actually tell the museum about it. They also painted on the border of Gaza which is protected by snipers 24/7 and smuggled a giant inflatable doll of Mickey Mouse in an orange prisoner jacket, in Disney World, in the middle of the day. I personally know someone who worked with Banksy and have no idea of their identity (even their voice is changed and they always wear a mask). My hypothesis is that there is indeed a much bigger team behind the Banksy phenomenon. Can't be one person, but I don't think they collaborated directly with Sotheby's.

this is a cool documentary but as your title says 'arts bad boy' he's actually graffs reject. hes whether intentionally or not sold himself out and now you would be hard pressed to find a graff writer or a street artist who would work with him. he started beef with king Robbo (RIP), he stole the rat design from Blek le Rat who was doing it years before in paris. now his work is protected by cops while real writers are buffed everyday. he did make a nice tribute piece for Alone (RIP) his anonymity is a novelty but to anyone that writes its a necessity. every time i tell someone about graff they assume its flowers or all political but its really about anarchy, fame and fun. he might end up an art legend but everyone on the inside knows where he came from and how he got where he is. if you want to know more you should watch the documentary Banksy vs Robbo its on youtube
@ms.bunniesarecute22873 жыл бұрын
Thats all true, but it doesn't mean the mad work he's put in is somehow invalid because he had beef with dead writers... even those writers are so e Graff legends...so is Banksy. Hes more of a street artist than having a love affair with letters...but when it comes to getting up...Banksy has mastered it. First street artist to become a worldwide phenom. Im not a huge fan either...but I ave mad respectful him. Whats he's accomplished is mind blowing
@mr.rigger6192 жыл бұрын
@@ms.bunniesarecute2287 banksy has nothing to do with graffiti, making stencils is ALOT easier than actually painting what he puts up, just another political piece or general hipster bs art. dont associate banksy with graffiti at all. theres alot more street artists who dont use easy stencils that are also just at up there as him producing better pieces/murals. nothing about him is mind blowing and all art is only a small personal accomplishment that non artist people look at for brief pleasure. unless you want an original for yourself or commission art work, it should be worth nothing but your own pride and effort. no one in the graff scene has respect for banksy, team robbo all the way. yeah sure hes gonna do his thing but he knows himself that where he came from isnt what he is has been and will be. (i think he actually used to write but not much at all not sure) strictly from a writers perspective. ffs id rather have the stig do a crayon picture for me thatll be more intriguing.

No attention seeking... no grand self-righteous statements posted in public. He or she will live unknown to us and die unknown. 100 years from now their work will be discovered and they will join the ranks of the true masters of the arts. And they will benefit not one bit from it while they live.

Truly amazing. Banksy is a very intelligent person. It has me wondering how/where he gained the knowledge he has from. Maybe I’m overthinking it. He’s amazing. I don’t tell most people but I’m an artist too. I used to boast about being one until I received a revelation. A lot of artists are selfish as heck. Whenever I meet other artists they always shove their art in my face, but never cared or gave off good energy if I showed them mine. The funny thing is....all their art looks the same😂 none of them had unique art. It all looked copied and pasted. If they ask to see my art then sure I show em, but only if they ask. I used to be like them, but I’ve learned how selfish they are and realized that gratification from others isn’t fulfilling because you’ll just want more and more and never get enough. Now I just focus on improving my skills and I don’t really talk to artists online or irl anymore. (Sorry for the essay btw lol) God bless
