@@NB-fb8pw Rugby is an extremely physical game. People get hurt in pretty much every sport. We have a word for those who purposely like to inflict injury with illegal play, we call them Grubs. There is no place for them in rugby, if they want to fight then go fight professionally, but they won’t because they’re grubs who like to take their shot when the other player is defenceless. Again rugby is tough, accidents happen. It’s a sport with rules that don’t include cheap shots. There have been a lot of rule changes over recent years with sole intention of protecting players from serious injury. For the most part it’s working.

2005 Lions tour New Zealand, Tana Umanga spear tackle on Brian O'Driscoll should be on here and all he got was a slap on the hand. This ended O'Driscoll's tour.
@Justiceforpets Жыл бұрын
O’Driscoll’s shoulder injury was 18 yrs ago and managed in accordance with the rugby guidelines of the time. The incident itself was never attributed to intentional or malicious play, as to accuse either or both tacklers involved, neglects to acknowledge both experienced players with equally unblemished behaviour, both on and off the paddock. Firstly - Two players were clearing the ruck, (neither guilty of predicting each others movements) consequently their independent actions created a momentum, resulting in the dangerous effect and result. It’s completely relevant to appreciate the character history of both Kevin and Tana prior to as well as since then, in terms of appraising the incident. Next - The NZ public do not tolerate poor sportsmanship, thuggery or lack of manners either off the paddock. Every All Black knows the standards they have to keep, before they pull on the Black Jersey.

Someone help me out on some of these red cards. Cause it looks like, that if someone jumps as high as they can, and you decide to tackle them, you get a red card, because they could fall on their necks? But how would you know if someone is going to jump high? Isn't that their own choice? Like, shouldn't the person that jumps high, get a warning or a card? Because jumping with your knees at face height, is way more sketch than taking someone down in mid air, imo'. (04:23 for example)
@DAILARNER Жыл бұрын
Your example (04:23) - you are allowed to compete for the ball in the air (that is when both players jump to catch the ball), you are not allowed to stay on the ground and hit the player who is jumping for the ball. Jumping for the ball is a useful skill because it allows the team to get to the ball early and secure possession. It is foul play if you prevent that from happening illegally and put the jumping player in danger

@@littlellama8405 Both the ball carrier and the defender have a responsibility not to attack the head or neck of the opposing player, so a ball carrier can use an open hand to the chest of a defender to push him away but not a forearm to the face, likewise a defender cannot tackle a player around the neck, in the air or tip tackle an opposing player because they may land on their head or neck risking serious injury, it is a sport not a death match, no one likes to see someone seriously injured or paralysed, but we do want to see good clean running rugby.

Watched rugby since the early 70s when Wales trashed us [English] every 2 years at Cardiff Arms park. LEGENDS in their team. SA are historically the dirtiest team I have ever watched. LOVED "99". My grandson I forbid playing it for potential brain damage. Karate is his love. TRUE discipline and control. Just my personal opinion...Oh, and he loves how HUGE forwards call the ref sir...😀

That chokehold one is appalling, what suspension did he get?
@johnmc3862 Жыл бұрын
Just a 4 week suspension, unreal.

The Moriaty one? I agree. The fact that he is surprised at the red card and the captain is asking for mitigation really pisses me off. Moriaty saw red (after being provoked to be fair) and held a player in a choke hold for an extended period of time… while in front of a ref. Moronic.

Few of these are just sloppy tackles but others are obviously intentional, definitely should be banned longer.

I think 2 i find not to be red cards but some wow they should serve life sentences

2nd red card was tough. NEVER tackle with your HEAD or standing flat against opps.

Why do they all pretend to be surprised? Did they not know they're cheating? "Oh, I thought the tucked elbow to the face was perfectly legal."

Love how rugby is refereed and that transparency in why decisions are made right. The Premier League could benefit so much from that clarity on the day.

To all those comparing Rugby players to football players: Most rugby players are from private schools, not the streets. "Rugby is a hooligan's sport played by gentlemen. Football is a gentleman's sport played by hooligans"

Rugby, were men frown on such action cos they know real tough men don't need to do it. Legends

As a soccer fan, I love the fact that most players on the opposing teams are rather collected, and not getting involved in the fight...
