@AWE Hey great place, fascinating! I just want to let you know that rusty heavy thing you picked up by the downstairs window? Well, it's actually a MAN TRAP! Made and used in the medieval times, they would be laid out, wide open and camouflaged to be disguised using the leaves, sticks whatever and placed around as you would land mines!! Once something touches the plate it releases the parts that literally snap the bones in the ankle or in the foot. Either way you are caught, stuck, in absolute agony and bleeding profusely - death is imminent, either there and then or if you survive until you're discovered then you will no doubt die from infection - slowly! My assumption is that Mr Trench had these man traps concealed only in areas which his servants would utilise in an escape plan! The traps would be set 'open' alongside hedgerows and wooded area's that appealed to potential escapees because of the natural cover they afforded. Nobody other than Mr Trench and perhaps his gamekeeper would know about them, but they like all traps need checking daily so that they remain 'set'! As Trench was notorious for killing and burying servants on the property, its my guess those servants had, had their lower leg/ foot totally mangled and as most died on the very spot through bleeding out due to a severed artery, OR you'd eventually die from the infection, shock and trauma. Mr T wouldn't have had this runaway nursed in a bed until he died now, would he?? Absolutely not!! So I'd imagine he'd shoot them. The only thing he wanted back from the escapee would be the trap hanging off his ankle!! They have these man traps in glass cages inside some really old museums that have medieval torture devices and the infamous man traps but for safety's sake they're inside an alarmed cabinet!! But that's definitely what that kind of trap is, just please don't get curious and fiddle about with it, as I can assure you that thing will have your arm off as quickly today as it did over 500 years ago when the tortuous medieval folk turned man hunting into a national sport!! Now I've said that I'll get on enjoying the rest of seeing this beautiful house, but it has definitely got a heavy aura of sadness, pain and power and torment also. The power and torment energy has to be Trench's and he's still there being an absolute bastard, bullying and mistreating those servant spirits that are a residual energy as they've nowhere else to go. I do love video's like this and many urbex have captured loads of paranormal evidence, and I think you do when you aren't looking so hard!! I'll sub and do the 👍on my way out!! 😂😂😂

The third Frederick Trench went bankrupt and closed up the house in the 20’s. In 1947 the 4th Fred Trench moved there. So the 40’s were the last time someone lived there. There was a fire in 1980’s. Trench family at one time owned most of Ireland. Thousands of acres everywhere.

Wow - it’s been quite some time since we’ve been through a massive mansion like that. While you’re walking through showing us this place, it’s fun to imagine what certain rooms would be used for. Places like the dining hall, the library, the music room and imagine the furniture and the portraits and the statues. Those columns were magnificent and to me that meant they had to have statues. That stairway up, such a shame the 1st part of banister wasn’t there. Such high ceilings and those doors were huge! Then it seemed like when you were walking down the hallways, they seemed to be so narrow, didn’t seem to match the rest of the mansion. I’d bet all of those fireplaces were absolutely gorgeous. The medallions that they hung their chandeliers from - wow! So gorgeous and so much detail with the ceilings. I wonder where the bodies are buried 👻 Thank you for taking us with you David. Always look forward to your videos. Thank you & as always, stay safe❤

Wow, this place is huge! Watching this made me think of how square footage only refers to the measurement of the floor area. It doesn’t account for the massive volume created by these super high ceilings and stairwells. And to think of how huge the basement alone is…😮! Surely it would cost upwards of 10 million US dollars to fully renovate. That’s only a guesstimate. The cost of just addressing the windows, adding indoor plumbing and electrical would be astronomical- let alone restoring the ceilings, walls, and chimneys… But, yes, I can feel how haunted this place is from just watching the video. Some of the areas are especially creepy.

Hello Dave, Sandra from across the pond in USA here. Thank you for letting us tag along with you as you explored this mansion. I am so intrigued by old huge dwellings like this ... the architecture was exceptional in the past - it was important to them. Like I have told you before, I feel a kinship with you as you see beneath the declined condition of the rooms today to imagine how grand it originally was. We are blessed with a creative imagination that we let fly through the years to be there a long time ago; it's fun to pretend I was living there. I have always retained a bit of "the child" within me that serves me well the older I get - it keeps me enthusiastic, it keeps me curious, and I can still feel the wonder in places like this. As always, I gave you a thumbs-up because you deserve it and I love what you do as well as the respect you show for the places and for the memory of those who once existed. Dave, we're both still alive in this amazing time that enables us to stay in touch across miles with just a few clicks! It's great to see you, and I wish you well as we enter the year 2024. Take good care my friend. Sunday, December 31, 2023

It still amazes me how beautiful and detailed these places are. I wish we could just watch how they built these homes because nowadays they just throw them up cheap and plain but expensive to purchase, unless you are one of the numskulls who have lots of$$$ & think they have to have the best, biggest, and so on. This would have been amazing for children playing hide and seek.

David if you read my comments you know what I'm going to say...WOW just wow this is beautiful you showed us so much detail, and I always say OMG what a shame. Can you imagine being an aristocratic family member of the house and as a ghost seeing it in this state now from what it use to be like? I would be distraught. The toilet you showed was a first for me too, I have never seen one like that. The servants quarters were amazing. Everything was amazing and wow I wish I had the millions of pounds to do it up back to its original state and live there, but even still it would never relive its past glorious days. Thankyou so much. I suffer really bad with depression and watching your videos gives me the will to keep on going. Thankyou David xx

I really enjoyed this video because you took time to pause for a while on interesting architectural points and even to zoom in on things so viewers could see more detail. So many explorers rush through so quickly that you don't get a chance to see much. That mansion is incredibly beautiful, even in its decaying state. I would love to explore it. Better yet, I think it would be marvelous if it could be restored as an historical site. It would cost a fortune to restore, of course, but the finished product could bring in revenue from all over the world for the local government. So many people would want to see it. They could start by renovating small parts to completion so that tours could begin in those areas. Of course, a new roof would be the first step in renovation. I believe they already do this sort of thing, for example, in old castles.

Dang that is one beautiful mansion. If they gave it to me free and I had 3-4 million to spare it would look like it should and well loved. Take care and thank you for sharing 🥺👏🙏❤️

@AWE83 - Brillant old place. Thanks for taking us through. The item at 28:30 is probably a mop sink. There would have been a grate over the bowl and a tap coming out of the hole in the wall, so you can sit your mop bucket on the grate and fill it with water. When you have finished mopping, you tip the dirty water down the sink.

😊❤ Excellent Show, so sad to see a once so beautiful place rotting away when there are truly so few left. Less as time passes. America has almost none, so I really enjoy these videos of yours. ❤ Thank You and God Bless you All 😊

This could never happen in Australia , someone would have been held liable for land tax, and if not paid, the state government would confiscate it.

Just wondering if their were any old photos in books that showed the inside. Such beautiful scenes of the grounds around the beautiful Mansion .Dave you do such an awesome job taking us in all your exploring journeys. Just keep doing what you love to do to bring some more of amazing adventures. Take Care and stay safe ❤X

It's such a shame that beautiful old buildings like that are allowed to just go to ruin and decay. Doors and windows left open to rain and wind and mildew. So sad! 😢
@lindatimmons3675

Those are probably left open by people going in and rummaging and tearing up because no one lives there. And they don't care. If I did this I'd have to close windows and doors for that reason ...... help keep the weather and animals out.
